Nice compositions, however some but not all pictures when displayed magnified show very strange artifacts. I'm not completely sure if it is just a video compression related (I view video at 1440p60), but it looks to me like artifacts from focus stacking. At 19:03 7:34 and 9:04.
Yes I am aware of some distortions on the shot of the branch and that is focus stacked. Didn’t actually notice it till after full video edit and to late to go back to it but oh well, I’m not a perfectionist just enjoy photography, nothings perfect 👌 thanks for watching
Very nice work Sir. I Hope to experiment using your examples in the parks around my city this spring when there's more green available
Thanks for watching and commenting please check out my other videos
Enjoyed that mate.Happy new year.Need to catch up soon, been too long….👍
Yes mate time goes to quickly
Gorgeous pictures. Love me a mossy woodland
Thankyou please check out some of my other videos. Many of woodlands that may interest you.
My dad said the very same words to me after the festive season. I have always appreciated his wise words, and am now 70 years old but man he got it right. Think positive you have and need your job holidays aren’t everything we all need the money and security so as when the good times come along we will appreciate them more. They have stood me in good stead since. Not only are your photos a pleasure to look at, but you throw in good advice as well Sir.
Thank you for your comments they are really appreciated
Nice to see you out and about Ian- I bought myself a new 16-35mm f2.8 lens - can't wait to get out and use it - as you say work gets in the way
Nice lens, would be good for Astro as well.
@IanBarrowPhotography never considered Astro . I know nothing about that genre lol 😆
Happy new year to you too Ian! Beautiful scenery and nice video and photographs as always!
Thankyou Tim and a happy new year to you
Some nice images
Thankyou Stephen
Wow. Plenty of motion in those shots Ian. And burst mode really came into its own. Well done mate.
Thankyou Mick
Well done Ian for finding something to take pictures of in this winter of awful light.
Thankyou Nick
Happy New Year Ian, great to see you back . Great shots of crashing waves. Bristol channel is great for its big waves.
Thankyou Rob happy new year to you as well.
Awesome sea conditions at Watchet and a great angle to shoot from. It looked fun. I’ve only ever seen it calm and done long exposure. Now it’s on my bucket list for storms.
It’s a good location Chris as long as wind north westerly. Or at least northerly. I also think it’s better at a slightly lower high tide. This was 9.5m but been there at a higher tide and waves don’t break as well. Definitely worth checking out.
@ Thanks for the information Ian. I get what you mean about the height of the tide. I’ll bear that in mind 👍🏼
Thank you, at last someone explains the basics in plain English. Always wanted to give it a go but found it daunting. But now I have a better idea 💡
Thankyou for the feedback much appreciated
would be great to see the pre and post processed images?
I am considering doing another edit video using a couple of these to my work flow. Thanks for watching and commenting. Please check out some of my other videos
Great shots and love the editing, maybe a video on your technique would be good
Thankyou Guy, I am considering doing another editing video
Some quite dramatic images there Ian nice to see you stayed quite local too - Happy New year mate
Happy new year to you as well Lez
Wow! Awesome!
Thankyou Jayne
Good to see you back out with the camera Ian, you've captured some great waves there. Happy New Year.
Happy new year to you both Peter.
Great to see you back Ian with some fantastic shots
Thankyou
Good to have you back gaffer, and some great photos of the coast. Happy New Year to you and all of your subscribers Sir.
Thankyou !! And a happy new year to you too.
Truly awesome pictures Ian!!
Thankyou
Here in Belgium, we don't have such wild sea...great pictures, Ian!!!
Thankyou. I’ve been to parts of Belgium for the Motocross a few times. Lovely country although very flat in places. Good beer 👍
Great images. Good to see you back
Thankyou
Some really nice images there Ian.
Thankyou
Some nice shots mate….been a while since we were taking hundreds and hundreds of photos in a day….
Yes mate prefer the more selective photography nowadays
Nice video and some great images Ian. How fantastic to have a camper van as a base when out and about! 😊
Thankyou Steve. Please check out some of my other vids. I’ve had a short break due to other commitments but will be posting again soon.
@ will do and I’ve just subscribed. 😊
I love the woods but the rubbish and bags of dog shit left by these ignorant feckers really piss me off
Back in my film days. I would during the winter , be looking for trees that looked like black lightening reaching up. There was a tree, on the dark gray evening sky, that looked like black lightening. There was no way to get a photo ...Very busy road. So I would watch out for trees that looked like lightenng.
I love a good gnarly twisted tree.
Nice captures. For me, water has to look wet. I tried long exposure many times. Some end up looking " dry " . Others look like " ice ".
I like to take several different exposures of the same scene then go with which I prefer or blend together. Thanks for watching and commenting

No they aren't neccessary for any photography
No not necessary for most genres and also not needed for landscape but they can be good when reducing glare from water and enhancing colours and sky detail. When I did motocross media I never had a filter in my bag just a neutral density on each lens to protect glass. Thanks for watching please check out some of my other videos
some nice shots there i take it you walked upstream from the bridge
Yes Roger. I have walked the lower stretch before a couple years ago.
👌.
Lovely spot that.Gets better the further up you go….See you soon mate.👍
Yes next time we go there will walk further up to those better areas first as already now done so far. 👍
Some lovely shots Ian, Autumn seems to be a bit late this year especially over here in Norfolk. I think the polariser is essential especially where water is concerned, but also great for making those colours pop.
My most used filter. A must have.
Great video and photos as always. :) For me polarizing filters are one of my most important tools for landscape photography, only exceptions being low light, wanting to retain certain natural light and reflections or using an ultrawide lens. They should also be avoided for panorama shots, but I don't do those (yet). They make your shots (and skies) pop more, in a natural way, which saves a ton of time and effort in post-processing, and remove unwanted reflections which is practically impossible to do in post-processing. Love them.
Yes 100% a must have essential. My most used filter for sure.
Fingle Bridge is beautiful. The pub does great food too. Not far from Castle Drogo.
I’ve been to Castle Drogo, it had parts closed off for renovation last time I went. 👍
@@IanBarrowPhotography I haven’t been for a while, we walked from the castle down to fingle bridge then back along the river, I got a great reflection shot, it’s difficult to see which way up it is, a pleasing shot.
Love Robbers Bridge
So do I when it’s quiet there. 😁
It’s fantastic there. Things have changed now they ask that you don’t enter the wood anymore. So it’s a little bit harder to get your shots
Yes I had heard that. Shame
Horner woods are beautiful, we go there quite often. Great little tearoom there too
I’ve yet to try the tea room. Must do it one day. Thanks for recommendation 👍
This is my local go to place.
It was so windy that day.
@@IanBarrowPhotography it can be a bit unpredictable there. But on a nice day it’s really good. You have the wild goats to add interest
Thank you, it’s a type of photography I’m really keen to get into, your video has been really helpful
Thankyou for the feedback Stephen please check out some of my other videos I’m sure there are others that will interest you
Thanks for taking us along on your woodland photo shoot 👍 thx for the tips and insights
Thanks for watching. Please check out my other videos.
Good to se you out and about again Ian, things dont always go to plan. Look forward to your next video.
Thanks Peter
Buddy , why would the images when clicked with phone camera looks soo small , while when we observe with eyes it looks decent, is there any way to click same size image as our eye see's
Phone camera is a wide angle lens so will give you a smaller perspective. You could get similar effect by zooming in to make the moon look large. You need something on the horizon to give large look. This is what your eyes are seeing.
5 mins down the road from me....Took images of wild garlic in the spring there...Looked at the waterfalls close to the bridge lots of times...will scramble down there soon...happy to join you !
I have got to them in the past. Although a bit of a scramble, this time not accessible at all. Need to go back with decent wellies or waders now.
Nice video Ian- I love to got to Tarr Steps on Exmoor for a similar experience
Yes Tarr steps is a nice area
Another great one from you Sir. Doesn’t matter how often you post a video, all that matters is the fact that you are alright and we are all happy when ever you post.
Thankyou for your kind words
Great video Ian ,really enjoyed it.👌👌
Thankyou 👍
Always an early morning mate….when we left yesterday at about midday that car park was rammed…..enjoyed this one mate.👍🏻
Yes mate earlier the better
As they say: it's about the journey, not the destination, but sometimes the journey isn't too pleasant either. Don't beat yourself up about it: you'll get them next time. :) Very nice photographs as always and loved seeing you out and about again and the beautiful location you visited here. :)
Thankyou Tim
