I finally bought my RV - a 2016 Thor Vegas 24.1. I bought it in September 2020 and have spent the last couple of months getting things ready to full time. That, and a nose surgery, have delayed this video. Hope you enjoy. On this last video of my Spring 2020 RV Trip, we finish up our time in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, visiting some of the springs for which the town is named, as well as shopping and eating. As we left Eureka Springs to take the RV back to Oklahoma, we slice a tire and have to have it repaired. Not a fun end to the trip but a fun trip in the end.

Im buying a new 2023 thor vegas vin 1FC4E4KN9PDD19516 Do you recommend this manufacturer and model? Safe trips.
Congratulations 🎉
Jody we love you.
Jody ,i too will be traveling solo. I have to fly to Tennessee to pick mine up. Have a safe and great time . More videos. Thanks. ❤🎉
Hi jody, could you tell me if you need a class A license to drive this motorhome? Id like to buy a new 2023 24.3 vegas for $95k includes taxes and registration. Do you recommend this brand and model? What electrical or mechanical issues did you experience? How did the power train handle?thanks
We want to go there this new year!! Great share and new subscribers here!! Happy New Year❤Zack & Linda
I'll admit, this is the only RV by Thor I'd be interested in if it wasn't for Thor's bad rep putting me off. Usually prefer the dinette being on the passenger side but love everything else, especially the generous inside & out storage & big wardrobe for an under 30ft RV. Can always cover the mirrors with something but it's nice to have access to a full-length mirror. Being one of the smallest Class As is a BIG plus! Make sure you get a good RV inspector to go thru it thoroughly - this is _Thor_ we're talking about after all. Hope you snag a good one for a great deal!
I ended up buying a 2016 Vegas 24.1 (wanted the twin beds for taking my sister along). The only problem I had was the macerator pump that the first owner had installed. Then I traded for a 2022 Winnebago Micro Minnie FLX travel trailer, so I could have the truck to run around with. The Winnebago has been nothing but trouble. So, you never know.
@@JodysJourney In the future, look for good name brands _before_ 2018. Anyone buying anything built during the covid RV crush craze will be beset with crappy quality control issues. I was interested in a Minnie Plus myself but won't touch anything made after 2018-9. Did you get a thorough RV inspection? They're worth the $ so you're not stuck with an ultra expensive newly built lemon. That sucks that Winnebago sold out & went cheap too, they're supposed to be one of the best. Avoid 2018 RVs or newer!
@@celestepalm6949 The FLX was not built before 2018 and all of these problems developed in the months after the purchase.
Hi Jody, I am really fascinated by this motor home! Does it require an upgraded drivers license to operate it? Also, what are operating costs like? What were your fuel costs? I am interested in things like fuel tank size, cost to fill up, and miles per gallon? Do you feel there is enough room for two medium size dogs? Thank you so much for making the video!
Hope you are doing OK, enjoyed your videos. I know this is two year old and you may not check it any more, but I am looking at a 2021 Thor Motor Coach THOR AXIS 24.1. We are in our late 60's and my wife's sister and her husband might be going with us to help with the driving. Do you think 4 adults could sleep comfortable in one? Thanks TC
You do NOT want a THOR product. Check out videos about it, horrible!
The 25.5 has a bigger shower, necessity for me
Hi I love your video Brava.
Enjoyed the video. We had a class c that leaked over the cab after a few years. Common in that style I’ve heard.
That is a great price im looking for a thor what state was that in ??? Im in ohio. And they got CRAZY PRICES here
That was in Lincoln, Nebraska. About 3 years ago though. Yep, prices are crazy right now.
R.I.P This the first time my seeing and to see 1 of your puppies to cross the 🌈 🌉 really hit me hard. I'm planning on taking the journey and I'm planning on getting a Thor, it kinda hit me. I'm so sorry for your loss loosing a pet is hard just like loosing a CLOSE RELATIVE. And I know I'm about 2 yrs too late but again I'm just now finding you
Hey Jody, looking for an update. Are you still RVing? Would love to hear how the Rig has worked out. Was it all you hoped?
No, I haven’t been able to RV over the last year or more. My little brother had cancer and just passed in February. I was his primary caregiver for the last year (spinal tumor meant he couldn’t walk or drive). I am in the process now, though, of getting back on the road - getting his house ready to sell and my Vegas back up and running. She dewinterized and started back up great. Unfortunately I must have gad a blockage in my water heater and some wires got melted. Ugh. So, need to fix that and maybe put a macerator pump back in. Then, keep your fingers crossed. 😊. Thank you so much for checking in.
@@JodysJourney I'm so sorry to hear about your brother. May his soul rest in peace. I imagine you were a great comfort and blessing to him. Wishing you a safe and easy transition back to life on the road. Many happy trails!
Jody, I hope all is good, we are watching your videos and hope to see you back.
My brother passed from his cancer in February (I have been his caregiver). I’m in the process of getting his house up for sale, fix a couple of things on the RV (though she weathered my neglect fairly well). Then, I’m back on the road. 😊👍🏻
@@JodysJourney I am so sorry to hear that but I am sure he greatly appreciated your support. Looking forward to seeing you online again.
Hi Jody. I am about to purchase a 2015 Thor Axis. Do you still have yours?
I do. Mine is a 2016, though. The bathroom doors are much better on this model and newer, just fyi. I am planning to trade soon though for a class B. Need something easier to maneuver in cities and busy parks. And I don’t want to tow. Otherwise, I love the Vegas.
I really enjoy your videos. My sister and I are interested in the Vegas 24.1 also. Glad to have found your channel!!! C U on the road!!!
I’ve been off the road for about a year now because of a family member’s health crisis. I will be back and making videos as soon as I can though. Thanks for your kind words. I still love my Vegas. 😊
Just found you, we live on Beaver Lake west of Eureka Springs. We can see Christ of the Ozarks from our back deck. We have a small a travel trailer and camp with our Good Sam chapter the Jolly Rogers from Rogers AR. We have considered a small class A so very interested in your reviews...
Great place! I love Arkansas! Thank you very much for sharing!🌹🌺💕👍👍👍
Great video 🤩
Thank you.
Just curious our your RV was holding up.
I really haven’t been able to use it much the last several months as I am taking care of my brother who has stage 4 cancer. It has been running just fine though. The only real, continual problem I’ve had is with the sewer system and that is mainly because a previous owner had it plumbed for a macerator pump. The pump engine went out early and I’ve been trying to get service centers to make it just a gravity dump and I seem to keep having trouble. So I’ve decided just to replace the macerator pump and hopefully be done with that. Haha.
New follower here, I hope your travels are fun filled and memory making... i know you had some bumpy roads but there is a lot of rattling, does this go away on smooth roads? you are truly an inspiration to a lot of people... God bless you...!
Amazing job with the video! We did exactly the same thing at the beginning of 2021. What an incredible journey has been since then. We bought a 2022 Airstream, soon after the super show and started a RUclips channel. Beyond blessed to be a part of the RV community. Well keep those adventures going. These newbies are supporting you, from South Florida!! Subscribing 👍🏼
Thank you so much. Unfortunately I have been off the road lately as my brother has advanced cancer and I am taking care of him. But I will be back on the road some day soon.
@@JodysJourney We’re so sorry to hear that. Wish you guys nothing but the best, hope everything works out!!
Hi Jody. I'm a little late on seeing this from your collection. I was curious to know something about the slide. Does the slide have to be out all the way, for the bed to function? Is the bed a jack knife style? So do you have any ball park dimensions on the bed? I can't seem to get concrete info. I love the twin to king setup for the rear, and the single drop down in the cab. It's the slideout bed, that's not getting any press, lol. Is there any small storage space behind it, when it's in couch mode? I see a new short vid on Thor's slideout bed coming up, by Jodi... 🤔. Safe travels to you!
I’ve never pulled out my couch. I believe it unfolds out as opposed to being a jackknife although that differs with different years. I will say the slide comes in to even up with that wall (where the mirror is) and hallway, so even if you can fit it, you probably wouldn’t get around it. It is long enough to sleep on, as a couch, for someone under six foot. Hope that helps.
How was the mileage?
I didn’t write it down but other owners report 9-10 mpg.
Why you stop making videos nice lady?
My brother was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, so I haven’t been traveling so I can stay close and help care for him. I hope to continue when I am able to get back on the road. Thanks for watching and asking. 😊👍🏻
You purchased your RV sometime ago, how has the rig held up since purchase? Have you had to have any warranty repair work done on the rig thus far? Thanks for the videos.
It wasn’t under warranty. Bought it used from a personal seller. It has done okay. Always something to fix here and there.
where are you now I can't find you
Thanks Jody excellent very much enjoyed
Hello Jody, I'm hoping have more video as can't seem to find more. I so enjoy fallow you take care keep the dream
Yes. I am not traveling now because I have a family member who is sick and I’m selling my house, etc. 😊❤️
Do you ever have any problem with the engine?
Not really. When I was going up some hills in northern Arizona, I did have the check engine light come on. Freaked me out but by the time I got back to Yuma and saw the Ford dealer, it had gone off. The mechanic said that is just a glitch that happens sometimes on steep grades. Had it happen again somewhere else - same thing, mechanic couldn’t find anything wrong and said it was a misfire. So, now when it happens, I just keep an eye on it and the light usually goes off by the next morning. But it’s only done it about three times and never affected the operation of the RV. Mine is a 350 and I wish it were a 450 but still does okay on hills.
Thank you, this is helpful!
I'm watching your video Miss.Jody did you highly recommend a thor Vegas?,me and my wife like to have something like this.
Thanks for watching. I’m not traveling right now so no new videos but hopefully in the near future. I really love my Vegas. Now, that’s not to say there aren’t issues. Every motorhome/RV has them, and the Vegas is a lower-end model (which is why I can afford it in the first place - haha). But it is such a great size and yet has everything I need. I’ve been looking at bigger and smaller rigs, and I keep coming back to my Vegas as the perfect medium. 😊. I’ve heard you should try to get a pre-pandemic unit as the newer ones are being made so quickly, they have tons more issues. Plus, if you buy used, someone else has taken the depreciation and hopefully fixed all the bugs. Haha. Best of luck with whatever you get.
Jody…. How easy is this Thor to drive?? I need/ want one 😜
Super easy. A bit like a big van. If it is windy, it can get buffeted around some but really not too bad. Such fun.
Hi Jody! I'm just curious about your experience with the 2016 Thor Vegas RV. What are the common problems and/or if you have a chance to get another RV what would be the upgrade you would add ?
Overall I’m still really happy with it. Every now and then I think I want something different - smaller, bigger, etc. But then I always come back to my Vegas as having just about all I need. If I were to switch, I have thought about the 25.4 because I would like a bigger bath and a bit more closet space. But I just didn’t like the dinette in the other one and switching it out with a sofa was a bit weird with the depth and step up on the dinette. So, back to the 24.1. Haha. When my sister isn’t traveling with me, I switch out the two twin mattresses for a full (running the other direction) and it’s great - gives me space at the foot for laundry basket, etc. My biggest issue, unfortunately, has been plumbing (nobody’s favorite). First the toilet flush kept breaking, so got a new toilet. Then the previous owners had put in a macerator pump, which died in the middle of nowhere. So I was just hooking up a hose to it but it was difficult to fit (because of the changes). Tried to get a couple of RV shops to fix it up some how but still having issues so I think I’ll just put a macerator pump back on it.
Post an update!
Sorry - family health issues have kept me off the road. Hope to be back up in March.
We will be visiting Texas in May 2022 for our upcoming trip Out West. This video was very nice to watch, thank you!
Thanks for watching. I’ve caught some of your channel. So fun. I’m looking at maybe a Scope 18M or Sequence 20K for a few years down the road.
I love this. Are you still in the rv??
Convertible twin beds are way better!
We currently live in TX and haven’t made it down to Padre Island yet! Love this video and we can’t wait to make it down there soon! 😄
Thank you for watching. I loved Padre Island.
Hi Jody, thanks for sharing your experience with the Thor Vegas. We are in the process of purchasing the Vegas 25.5 and your video was helpful.
I’m glad to hear that. The 25.5 was on my short list. 😊
@@JodysJourney I seen your video on the RV you got. Congratulations!
@@cindyhughes3036 Thanks. 😊
I love historic sites like this!!
Me too. Thanks for watching.
Where can you rent a axis or Vegas 24.1 ?
I found mine through RVShare. Outdoorsy is another owner rental site. I did a Google search for “Thor Vegas 24.1 for rent” and several listings came up. The closest was a day away but the owner let me park my car where he stored the RV. Good luck.
Does this RV require the A class driver license?
Just a regular driver’s license.
How do you like the Thor so far ? Is the reliability keeping up?
I’m really loving it. Just everything I need in an easy traveling unit. Some repairs: needed a new toilet as the lever fell off twice and there’s a leak in the grey tank line - on the schedule to get that fixed in a couple of weeks; a trim piece off and a couple of drawers I need to fix the glides on. But, overall, all things to be expected on a five-year old unit that shakes and rumbles down the road. Haha.
As a guitar teacher/player, I really appreciate your music clips. Please keep that up. Thanks for the park tour.
Thanks.
