Kove 800x Pro test drive, purchasing and review in Dublin, Ireland
hi , your oil was soo clean ? good job 👌 i hope for you a good journey ride safe
Hey man it sounds like the engine is running without oil 😂
Thank you for your video and favoring light-weight adventure bikes. Other reviews talk about Kove 800 X's fueling issues from low rpm. I hope they solve that problem soon so that I can buy one. Not many years of riding left at age 72.
Youve had PTSD from your work and mental health affects your life and future. God bless you on your travels
Good bike....KTM motor ..👍
Hopefully they continue to kake good bikes but im concerned now that fhe passionate founder has been ousted. Similar to Steve Jobs. A passionate founder ousted by corporate idiots who ruin the company.
Id love to buy this, if they ever bring it to india. However, they'll have a monumental task in india cos indians like the rest of the world, dont trust chinese products for quality. Secondly, since china has made advsnces on our borders multiple times, we have animosity towards them. And since the country is huge, setting up effective sales and service network would be very very difficult. Keeping my fingers crossed. I ride in the himalyan mountains fpr atleast 3 weeks every year. Almost exclusively above 12-13k feet above sea level. So at that altitude, oxygen is less and i dont want to wrestle with a heavy bike. My limit is 200kg and this fits perfectly with that. I was keen on getting the Aprilia Tuareg if it ever launched in india. They did launch it but priced it the same as a Tiger 900 Rally Pro. Idiotic pricing, so that's out of the question now.
New subscriber. I just put a deposit down on an 800x Rally for all the reasons you state. Kove's Dakar commitment proved they are serious. I look forward to following along your journey and wish you safe travels. I think it's a brilliant bike. I chose to spend my hard earned money on the only bike currently available that fills the mission. KTM, BMW, Yamaha, and Honda keep missing the mark offering increasingly bloated machines. My choice is about buying the bike we need and have been asking for for years. If the big boys want my money I have one word for them: compete.
Nice vids :) how is the bike to travel with so far? Any vibeations and buffeting on the motorway?
Good service job and Eric's place looks a good find too. At 3:26 in the video it looks like there should be a second pinch bolt in the bottom of the lefthand fork? Hope you haven't lost one enroute and can easily replace it if needed. Ah I see now it's been reported already lol. Great trip and video's
Loving the videos man.
Nice Videos. Subscribed. I am a relatively new biker and not done much travelling on the continent or anywhere else for that matter. So watching with interest and picking up a few tips... A key lanyard seems to be a must......
Great Video Gary - keep them coming- I'm looking forward to them - Eric is cool and I enjoyed the oil change - all the best - John
I like watching your change of lifestyle and your trip . from Crete I wish you a nice, safe trip !!!
That teasing would have occurred when the first Japanese bikes appeared to challenge Triumph, BSA, Harley etc, look what happened then, RUclipsrs are raving over them and buying with their own money, if reliability is sound and there are plenty of dealer networks look out Japan !
Another great channel to help me through a wet Cumbrian winter ! Good luck and safe travels.
I think you are getting flashed by people because it's a UK configured headlight.
Bike is purring by the sound of it , great to get the oil change done …no spoiler alert 😮 you made it to South America 😅
Well i can safely add 'watching an oil change' onto my list of things I thought id never do 😂another great episode Gar. Eric was adorable ❤
i always remember a guy i worked with over 20 years ago buying a Kia, he got laughed at every single day, i bet they all own them now😂 and look at the Kia sales to date.
Agreed on all accounts.
What a great guy the owner of the Airbnb was, I could see his enthusiasm for your journey. Stay safe and enjoy the trip, go with the flow.
Thank you! and I agree, Eric is a great guy!
So kind of your host. A big merci a lui.
Thanks everyone for the nice comments. If anyone wants to stay at Erics place in France, here is the link for his Airbnb: www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms/750654602099993037?source_impression_id=p3_1732406192_P3ldXt7j98AKva3u
Have you noticed the missing front wheel spindle clamp bolt 🔩
You're dead right. I must get that addressed asap!
@GarysJourneyYT Have a great time on your trip liked the house owner Eric thinking about your needs for the oil change.
@@paulgibson490 Thanks Paul
Im also always tuning engine few times without starting it. Difficult to explaim how to make it. You can also put 2nd or 3rd gear and push bike to turn engine. You will see how many of old oil will go out. With that I always drain 1 L more old oil.
I will look into that as your the second person to say this.
Nice ride. With oil change fill up new oil filter with new oil. After that new oil will come faster to the engine parts.
Thanks, I will do that for the next change!
Well done I like how you go between the map and your riding to show location.
Glad you like it! I will keep it up
You see different variations of that. But you have a unique take on it.
You should have had 2 oil prefilters, one for each bolt you removed. Maybe you didn't check deep enough and you have both. Also pus as much oil as you need to reach the upper part of the red circle. 3 litres is about right.
Really? Pretty sure there is one oil strainer and one oil filter. It did take exactly 3 litres though
If you want to expel all the used oil from the engine you have to turn the engine on for a second without the oil.
Mmm, I would not feel comfortable doing that haha
@@GarysJourneyYT The oil is trapped inside the engine , by starting the engine the oil will be released. I am not saying to let the engine run without oil, just to turn the crank a few times.
1st off great video, now onto the real legend of this video is the owner of the airbnb. You can see he is a great man who cares about people. Nice to see
Thanks Danny. Eric was a legend :)
Ability to change oil on the road is really useful. I do extended touring and always carry a spare oil filter, doesn’t take up much room and very little weight. I find carrying a small plastic funnel useful as well. I’d be looking to get that backpack strapped to the bike somewhere, the weight on your back has got to get tiring after hours in the saddle. Thanks for posting and best of luck 😁✌🏻
Hi Warren. Good call strapping the bike to the back, think I will do that for long rides. I have another oil filter but no funnel. The cap sticks out a little form the bike so wasn't too difficult during oil in thankfully.
Great to see all is going well 🤘
Thank you!
you have me hooked .cant wait for the next episode ..im intrigued to see how the build quality is over the coming episodes ..good luck enjoy bud
Thanks Joe!
just stumbled onto your channel ..great videos up to yet ive now subscribed ..all the best god speed
Glad to have you on board Joe!
could you fit any more crap on those handlebars?
Same engine as KTM for oil change
Yeah, I saw a KTM 790 today and it is exact same setup
Continued good luck. That bike sounds amazing on the videos 🏍️
Thanks John. Yeah I do like the sound of the Kove once it gets going!
Interessante e chiaro ma un po' maldestro. Non si usano coltelli ma i giusti utensili....😊. Dopo quanti km hai sostituito l'olio e filtro, 6000? Il paracoppa non e' originale, di che marca e'?
Correct. First service is 1000km and second is 6000km. It is from Uncle Wang.
Another great instalment, what a lovely chap Eric was. Looking forward to what comes next.
Thanks David!
I’m always thinking that I want a long service oil change interval for when I’m on the road. This video helps cement that😂. Nice job. I’ll keep looking for long service interval bikes. I subscribed looks like the start of a nice adventure.
Don't be scared of a little maintenance, it's good to get to know your bike, besides, that was a really easy one....
Thanks Starlordman!
@ you’re totally right. However, just to set the record right I do the oil changes and valve clearances and stripped down the bike to the engine pretty much but my love for doing it in the field is low .😛 I look forward to your next video thanks a lot .
Can sympathise about the cover dropping in the oil but made me laugh. Cheers
Thanks Ian! I laughed myself watching it back!
Watching closely to understand reliability as you quickly pile on the miles!
Me too!
careful tightening the oil filter cap bud, they only need about 8nm to strip
Yeah i tried to not over tighten. Just tried to gauge by feel.
Factory mechanic secrets
Have fun and stay safe!!! 👍
Thank you!
when doing your comments, you are always in the same room in each video
Yeah I was catching up in Buenos Aires. On the road again 😉
Kove should be sponsoring you. Ask them, say, to pay your fuel? Great content.
Thanks Brant! That would be nice!!
fork bottom left is missing a bolt
I just went out and checked. You are dead right. Must get that sorted asap..
Fantastic Gary , great job all round , your doing well , my envy is kicking in , ride on 😎
Thanks Owen!!
Buon voyage Gary
Merci!
