I had the memorable experience of hearing Sills and Gedda at San Francisco Opera in about 1972. I attended operas at SFO for over 30 years and this is one of a tiny handful of operas that left such a powerful emotional impact that they will remain at the top of my list of ultra special performances forever. The season is worked there as a dancer 75/76 season ,i think,she sang Ballo with Carreras 2 performances in Nice, friday night and Sunday afternoon. Then we travelled to Toulon for a performance on the monday night Patricia Payne was the Mezzo Later that season she returned to sing Adreana Lecouvreur
