THREE BUCKS SPARRING UP CLOSE
Caught these three mule deer bucks testing out their antlers a few weeks before the rut. I was less than 20 yards away on my mountain bike and they didn't care at all. Video was shot at sunrise so pardon the grainy low-light footage.

BEAR CRUZER / G2 / CRUZER X Bow Review
Просмотров 31 тыс.4 года назад
There are a lot of good entry-level compound bows out there. The Bear Cruzer is a great beginner or youth bow, but versatile and capable enough for the experienced archer. There are a few variations with the Cruzer X, Cruzer, and Cruzer G2. If you're looking to get into archery, this is a solid option for your first bow. It will get the job done well without breaking the bank and without any un...

Utah High Country Solo Public Land Deer Hunt

Had a blast on this public land DIY solo mule deer hunt in the Wasatch mountains... Struck out on archery but has success with the rifle. This is the first buck I've killed since I was 14, so needless to say I was excited. Next year we'll find a monster :)

Utah Hunter has Scary Mountain Lion Encounter

My dad had a pretty wild mountain lion scare while elk hunting and Outdoor Channel got a hold of the story and asked him to be on their show. Pretty cheesy but entertaining :) Scary experience for him! This happened back around 2001.
Black Hole 4-Sided Archery Target Review
Просмотров 11 тыс.5 лет назад
Review of Field Logic 18” Black Hole 4-Sides Archery Target. Would not recommend this target for broadheads with a compound bow over about 40 lb. After 10 shots arrows were passing through to the fletch. Got way worse after the video and was having consistent pass-throughs into the dirt even at 50 yards. Does ok with field points. Spend a little more on something more durable, a couple options ...

Kanarra Falls - Crazy Hike! Logan & Alexa

This is one of our all-time favorite hikes. Kanarra Creek Canyon is just outside the town of Kanaraville in southern Utah. Shot in September, 2014 with GoPro Hero 3 Black.
I have a cruiser as well and I can tell you that the sight will get you by but is a cheap plastic and will eventually need to be upgraded.
100%. And I found that the peep was too big... I bought a smaller slightly nicer one. A cheap upgrade that makes a big difference!
How long can you store this in a ziplock bag?
Good question! I'd say several months, if you refrigerate it the it'll last even longer.
What temp? Im doing it rn for the 2nd time but usung racks instead of tooth pics this time
I do mine at 175, which is the lowest my oven will go. Anywhere close to that should be good.
@mountainstandardoutdoors8673 right on, i have a decent oven i can go lower, im at 170. Thanks!!
Awesome good luck hope it turns out good!
@mountainstandardoutdoors8673 thanks! Last time was great, and i pretty much just copied yours, this time a lil sweet and spicy :) ty!
I’m currently doing this rn it’s been 4 hrs at 175 and it’s still not done looks like it might take another 2 hrs however I’m using backstrap into 1/8 thickness
Oh that's interesting it's taking so long, let me know how it turns out
@@mountainstandardoutdoors8673 will do
I add a table spoon of FRANKS RED HOT SAUCE for a little kick to this recipe. It works great
Love that idea. Need to try that
Made two pounds of jerky using this recipe, It turned out amazing ! Thanks for the video. Simple, easy and very tasty 👍👍
Awesome!! Makes me so glad to see this I appreciate you sharing!
I’m gonna have to try this exact recipe based on all these comments🤣 gonna be first time making deer jerky
Do it! It's so hard to mess up haha. Let me know what you think 👍
Baking or on broil at 175 for 3 hrs?
I just do bake so it's nice and slow with low heat. I think the broil on my oven is too hot
@@mountainstandardoutdoors8673 so you have the foil on the bottom as a drip pan on top of hot burner?
There's no burner at the bottom of my oven. You could also put the foil on a lower rack if you have two racks
@@mountainstandardoutdoors8673 thank you
Good to know I dont need a dehydrator. I'm gonna try this now!
It's just as good in the oven in my opinion! Let me know how it goes
Bought this for my mini crossbow with a 80lb draw, definitely wouldn't buy it for my high speed xbows. Broadheads for my mini xbow will only touch this enough to sight them in, no excessive shooting with them.
Yep, I think that's spot on for this target.
Just got the g3 cant wait to shoot it
Awesome! You'll have to let me know how it goes
I bought this now mainly because I got it for $200 at a pawn shop. It had never been shot. A quick glance at a few videos told me it’s all the bow this old boy should ever need. It’s poundage adjustment range is important because I’m shooting low until I get my form right. Then I’ll focus on finding my ideal pull.
Love to hear it!
Good video bro. Concise and to the point. Hopefully you gained a little confidence since you made that video🤙🏻
Appreciate you watching!
Can I hunt with the bear cruzer g2
Absolutely. What are you looking to hunt?
Mostly deer
The Cruzer is a great option for deer.
Ok what pound should I use to hunt
There are a lot of factors to consider, but 40-45 lb. draw is probably as low as you'd want to go for deer. Anything above that you should be good assuming the rest of your setup is appropriate.
If you are a beginner at bowing and are using it to hunt, you are a true piece of s#%t. Until you are good enough to hit kill shots 90% of the time all you are doing is making an animal needlessly suffer. If you’re that type of person screw you, we don’t want you in our sport.
Hello good evening my name is Guillermo I am speaking from Panama my bear cruzer g2 bow has a problem when I pull it to shoot the top pulley it makes a two clip sound that could be already checked the screws and they are fine
Hi Guillermo. That's a difficult question to answer... My best advice would be to try and find a shop with the the right tools and knowledge to diagnose and fix it properly. Good luck to you!
My rocket powered arrows. Twice the speed of sound.
Your title says cruzer and cruzer x are they not he same?
To my knowledge the Cruzer and Cruzer X are the same other than some different finish/color options. If there are other differences they are minimal. And the G2 is the newer model since they phased out the Cruzer. Biggest difference between Cruzer and G2 is a 30" AtA length vs the 32" Cruzer. Thanks for watching!
@mountainstandardoutdoors8673 what year did the bear cruzer g2 release Google confused me that it was 2017 or 2018
That is pretty awesome... never seen that up close before
Are the cams metal or plastic?
Hey Patrick, the cams are metal on the Cruzer.
The cams are plastic
The cams themselves are metal. The adjustable draw length modules attached to them are plastic.
It is correct if you are right but then what must be making the noise? He brought two more plastic adjusters, the one he uses is 1" the other half an inch and the other has almost no holes
very nice shooting
Thanks for watching, Bill!
use metal shish kabob skewers instead of toothpicks.
Good idea!
Much appreciate your perspective and review. What arrow spine do you use with your Bear G2 Cruzer?
Thanks for watching! I'm shooting a 340 spine Gold Tip arrow. About 65 lb. draw and 28" arrows.
@@mountainstandardoutdoors8673 Thanks I can check arrows that off the list. Very helpful and appreciated knowing the spine when I purchase arrows. I get my Bear Cruzer G2 this coming Tuesday. How much tuning is required out of the box? Did you take to archery shop to have it custom fit to your shooting requirements? Oh, and I am planning a elk and mule deer hunt and will be using this bow setup. With the bow being lite weight is see it as a bonus for all day stalk hunts.
Yes I took it to a shop and had them help me tune it. They've got the knowledge and tools to make sure cam timing etc. are all set. They were surprised by how little tuning it needed out of the box. I'd probably recommend spending a few bucks on a better peep, and possibly a more substantial stabilizer, but that's about it.
@@mountainstandardoutdoors8673 Again very helpful. Peep sight, will take your advice and upgrade. Stabilizer: Duly noted and I'll add that upgrade as well. I'm sure the archery shop can help me with that.
Yesterday I made my first batch which is delicious but if you're a fan of spice and like some heat, add 2tsp of red pepper and 2tsp of Cheyenne
Sounds like a great way to spice it up for sure!
Great review, glad you made it after using the bow for a year. Sadly I just returned my Cruzer G2 after a month of use due to what I consider some QAQC issues which I hope to not experience on the replacement they send me. I haven't seen any real bad reviews on the cruzer G2 yet and can't wait to continue my journey into the world of bow hunting.
Hope the replacement works out better for you. Thanks for watching
I have had a couple of these targets and they didn't last long
Fair enough. Mine is now fairly mangled in the center. Have you found any bag targets for a comparable price that hold up better?
@@mountainstandardoutdoors8673 no I don't think there is a target out there that will hold up against as many arrows as I shoot
I just bought this bow, (G2) I love it! I was shooting some bullseyes in the first 10 shots from 30ft. Never shot a bow before
That’s great!! Thanks for sharing
My favorite canyon :)
Ours too!
Great review mate , just got a bear legit , I’m a complete and utter novice, but I’m enjoying the learning curve , I’ve had some instruction from a mate who’s been using a bow for 20 years makes all the difference ps your 40 yard group pretty good , I’m getting there , I’ve yet to find an arrow that suits my style, ? That’s another subject , all the best mate from the uk 🇬🇧
I love hearing about people getting into the sport! You are right about the learning curve, I’m not sure it ever ends 😄 I have been a big fan of the Gold Tip arrows, I shoot the Hunter XTs currently and they are solid for my needs. Cheers
Thanks for the advice just ordered 12 400 grain from the USA 🇺🇸, nearly choked on my cup of tea £150 uk pounds , but they have a real good write up , thanks again
sir,i need one piece string for my compound bow, bear vast 70 lbs
This was an honest review…thx
I bought my Cruzer when first released. I have no reason to upgrade. A more expensive bow is a nice to have, not a must have. I'll bet the deer I shoot is just as dead with my $300 Cruzer RTH as the you dear shot with your $1000 + accessories. Spending that much money won't make your deer more dead nor will spending two or three times more on arrows or broadheads. Dead is dead.
Definitely a very capable bow, especially for the price.
At full draw the lower buss cable touches the other one where it splits at the bottom. Is that normal? My nephews does.
Yeah mine comes into VERY light contact at full draw. Haven’t had an issue with it, but if it’s rubbing more than that you may want to have it looked at
@@mountainstandardoutdoors8673 I did more research on it. I found that it’s a normal issue. It’s because of its wide range of draw lengths. To fix it all you have to do is remove an even amount of twists from each buss cable. Thank you for replying!!
Good to know! Thanks for sharing
@@mountainstandardoutdoors8673 of course! Thanks for the video!
Is this in the front side of timp? above the G? My dad said they always got something when they backpacked in there 20-30 years ago, I’ve just never gone
Not exactly but not too far off :)
Very nice and thorough review! I have a 2015 Bear Cruzer that I originally bought with the intention of trading up later at some point but I it turned out to be everything I want in a hunting bow. I have harvested at least one deer with it every hunting season since I got it.( 5 hunting seasons) and I've harvested hogs with it as well. I did a review on it on my channel after owning it for three years. Not as thorough as yours but I was basically showing how well the thing shoots. Good luck to you on your next elk hunt! And enjoy the bow!
That’s awesome! Yeah, if/when I feel that I can “out shoot” the Cruzer I will upgrade but for now it does what I need!
Sweet congratulations.
Yeah I got one and it’s a pos! Mathews halon 32 slinging arrows slam threw after first 15 shots complete pass threw
Yup. The reviews on it were decent so I was shocked at how poorly it performed. Too bad
Most people shoot two points from the road you worked hard for him sure the meat was super good nice video
did you shoot with a compound bow or a recurve?
Compound bow
@@mountainstandardoutdoors8673 me too, thanks just got it in the mail a couple days ago
It’s a solid bag target and holds up pretty well, let me know what you think.
This is advertised as a crossbow target here in Britain. I was thinking of getting it for my 400fps, 185lb compound xbow. Do you think it would be adequate?
In my opinion it’s nowhere near durable enough for a crossbow, especially if you ever plan on shooting broadheads into it. I’d pay a bit more for something that will last you.
@@mountainstandardoutdoors8673 Aye see the problem is I'm in Britain and we are limited in terms of options. We do have the crossbow version of this here though.
Perhaps the crossbow version is a bit more sturdy than the one I purchased. Regardless, if you place 4-5 layers of cardboard on the front it helps a lot with stopping arrows/bolts. Just have to change out the cardboard every so often :)
@@mountainstandardoutdoors8673Thanks for the advice mate. Appreciate it.
just ordered an orange one in this same model tonight ! i've owned a daisy childrens compound for about 4 days, so decided to graduate lol. hopefully wont have to hunt to eat, bought it with the intention of home self defense
Should definitely be an upgrade ha! I hope it works out well for you
I don’t like jerky..never have. But I LOVED this deer jerky. I was pleasantly surprised and snacked on it legitimately every day. I can’t wait to make more!
We've tried our fair share of venison jerky recipes and WOW, this one takes the cake by far! Can't wait for the next recipe, keep them coming!!
Thanks for way watching and glad you enjoyed!
Outstanding did add a few pepper flakes but this amazing recipe thank you!!!
So glad to hear it! I agree with adding a bit more spice to it for sure 👌
Good review, and as stated, arrows will start to go through after a few dozen shots with a high powered bow. My 70lbs kuma ate it up real quick with fieldpoints. I keep using seal foam to repair mine every time arrows start getting through. I've shot many arrows with my recurve and nothing is getting through. its helds up to hundreds of shots so far.
your shooting this with a compound bow lmao of course ita gonna punch through i mean arrows go through deer out the back and 2 inches into a tree you think foam will stop it 😂
Yeah it’s too bad it’s so flimsy... bought it online and there’s a photo of a grown man with a compound bow in the product description so one would think it might hold up a bit better. They need to advertise it as a youth target.
Congrats. There are three trophies you get out of this experience. First some good backstraps loins and quarters, second some antlers after years of going without, and third you filmed it. I sure wish I had film of some of my past hunt successes. I'll have to try on my next hunt.
would you reccomend this for a recurve crossbow (260 fps)
Probably not. With broadheads you’d tear the target up pretty quickly... my bow shoots around 270 and was passing through after a few dozen arrows.
My bow is shooting 320 and rips right threw every shot
Great job!
Those are the wrong shoes for this hike🤦🏼♀️
Great video and the single reason why I got this bow! Most definitely is great for the value. I blew up my cable slide and replaced it with a better one. In addition got a longer stabilizer for it and it’s been shooting great!
Love it! Yeah a couple fairly minor accessory upgrades and you’ve got a pretty solid setup.
