Thanks man!
Very nice thanks, just one question if you can: I didn’t get this map so well, change in first leaf date is when the leaf changes color in the fall or when the first leaf grows in the spring. And if it is in the fall the leaves further north are mostly changing earlier, if it stays warmer longer in the year why are they changing earlier. The south makes sense because if it stays warmer longer they start to change later when it is colder. And is the comparing the change in first leaf date from 1950 - 1960 seeing what changed in 2006 - 2015 compared to how it was back in 1960? Thanks
test tomorrow for chapter 2, and teacher was absent for whole chapter, this guy is a lifesaver
For the FRQ i think an answer could be that the Anglerfish adapted in the aphotic zone to have biolumanesance(idk how to spell it :( ) so they can see and that its body is really squished and flat to adapt to the water pressure of being far down in the aphotic zone. Is this correct ?
I’m so screwed 😭
Great! I'm 邱屎拉 from China, this video helps me a lots on understanding the main concept that I couldn't understand myself, thanks for helping.
Other types of figurative islands can be like lakes as well? I even heard one day about a forest surrounded by desert
1.2 FRQ. A Tundra is a biome with an important characteristic of nutrient poor soil being due to dead organisms not being able to decompose fast, how this characteristic could determine the community of organisms found in the biome is through the lack of nutrient rich soil, which means less plant growth which could equate to less plant growth and less herbivores in the community.
The heimler of APES, the true heroes of AP classes
Mr. Smedes, you are the greatest teacher of all time. Please keep doing what you are doing because you inspire me and my classmates. DreverDrama387 is my best buddy and agrees with what I am saying. You may think this is glaze, but sometimes people need to hear the truth. You are him, Mr. Smedes. I bet you get all the huzz because you are such a smarty-pants. Let me know if you'll let me hit. Please, I am already on my knees and begging.
Bro who are you. I am not your best buddy. Bro thinks Mr smedes is gonna let him hit. The smedes glaze is wild. Mr smedes is not that cool lil bro. you are the biggest glazer of all time. pls let me hit huang drama. OOps did I say that out loud. Anyway dont bring me into your glaze.
I just have to give a major shoutout to Mr. Smedes, the GOAT of AP Environmental Science! His RUclips videos are a total lifesaver-like, no cap, they’re the reason I’m not drowning in a sea of carbon cycles. He breaks everything down so well that even my brain feels like it’s vibing instead of frying. Honestly, he’s got that knowledge drip that makes learning feel so chill. So, thank you, Mr. Smedes, for being the real one and helping me navigate this class. You’re basically my academic hype man, and I couldn’t do it without you! Keep doing your thing!
Smedes u da goat😍
The population grows the fastest in Stage II since the birth rate is high while the death rate is decreasing and low, and this is due to some access to healthcare and stable food resources which decline the death rate. One economic or societal indicator of a country in this phase is a low GDP per capita or shorter life expectancy.
Based upon the graph, it can be noticed that the canine virus caused the moose population to increase in population size. Since the canine virus decreased the population of the wolves, which were most likely preying on the moose, the moose were able to rise in population due to the lack of predators, allowing the population size to expand.
The trend showcased in the survivorship shown in the graph is highlighted by a big drop-off in early ages with a steadier decline later on. This survivorship curve most likely represents a Type III survivorship curve, and this is due to the fact is that this curve has a high death rate in early ages, which is prominent in the characteristics of a Type III survivorship curve.
A characteristic of an r-selected species that could increase the likelihood of the r-selected species becoming a more successful invasive species is their ability to mature quickly and reproduce at a young age. With the ability to mature quickly, they are able to reproduce much more offspring in a shorter time frame, allowing the population to rapidly grow compared to k-selected species, which mature slowly and only have a couple offspring per parent.
Nice thanks Mr smedes
you are a goat
I’m still cooked but not as much anymore😁

Thank you❤
Germany has the lowest population because it has the highest ratio of older people (post-reproductive) to younger people and kids (pre-reproductive and reproductive). When a population has too many older people that can hurt the economy and also reduce the surge in babies which would later become the primary source of a growing population. Once all of those older people die the population will suddenly decrease and then from there create a downward slope into a declining population.
please pray for me
Papa
Countries in stage 3 (19:11) are NOT considered a developed country. While they are industrialized, it still takes time for them to develop fully. India is an example of this.
india is not a stage 3. and technically stage 3 IS referred to as developed even if it isn’t “fully” developed.
are you using Genetic DIVERSITY and Genetic VARIABILITY interchangeably or is there a difference?
THANK YOUUUU MR SMEDES YOURE THE GOAT 🫡🫡🫡🫡
these videos are too goated
this guy helps so much, hes a replacement for my current in-class APES teacher who unfortunately doesnt teach well at all. THANKYOU
helo stwewi griffin
This video was very helpful thank you❤
Hey man, you’re an excellent educational resource and I find your videos helpful. But stop saying Fun-Jai. It’s Fungai. Thank you.
Thank you. That made me mad. I 100% agree
Finally someone said smth abt this. It was bothering me so much!
That's funny, I definitely say fun-guy in class and in general conversation. I did research on fungicidal compounds in the summer of 2017 so I was pronouncing the g as a j sound a lot during talks around that time. It must have crept into this video too.
Oh that makes sense. Sorry about that
no practice frq???
My teacher literally doesn’t teach you are a literal life saver
Stage 2 grows the fastest because the death rate drops while the birth rate increases due to factors of industralization and a indicator would be a country still with a high TFR and high IMR
A problem would be immigration, not to get political haha but immigration is a key factor to increasing population, and a solution proposed by the government would be laws/policy that take action on allowing immigrants for example they would need to take courses on citizenship, background checks that only allow clean backgrounds, etc.
immigration isn't an environmental issue tho
i hate this unti
I fucking agree with you fuck man fuck
THANK YOU MR SMEDES I GOT A 5 BECAUSE OF YOU UR SLIDES AND TEACHING ARE SO HELPFUL I WISH U PROSPERITY IN EVERYTHING U DO
Thanks for the kind feedback, but don't forget to thank yourself too! You did the hard work studying and thinking like a mountain on the exam. Well done, scholar.
my test is tomorrow i'm praying for a 75+
