Qigong vs. Neigong: Which Is More Powerful?
If you really want to be healthy, to feel freer, to become a better human being, you must first create balance. Taoist energy arts have been practised for millennia for these reasons, and many more. Most popular is qigong (and younger tai chi), but in the Water Method, the focus is on neigong and the 16 methods for developing qi (or chi), for internal power.
In this video, I sit down with TTCS Instructor Javi Martinez to answer the question: Qigong or Neigong -- which is more powerful?
Javi Martinez teaches tai chi and qigong in London:

I teach a full Water Method arts curriculum online, and in the USA and UK:

In the Pursuit of Wu Wei
Просмотров 1,2 тыс.14 дней назад
Wu wei is often translated literally, based on the Chinese characters. But Water Method practitioners have a much different understanding of the Taoist concept of wu wei, and flow. Following the principles of water, it starts with the physical body and goes through the Three Treasures, the Taoist path of ascendence. www.paulcavel.com/ #flow #wuwei #taichi #taoism #daoism
When Bend-and-Stretch & Lengthening Become One #taichi

Bending-and-stretching and lengthening are two separate and refined streams of neigong. However, in more advanced stages of qigong, tai chi and bagua training, bending-and-stretching and lengthening become one. Here's how. @PaulCavel #taichichuan #qigong #taoism #neigong

In this video, you'll see the Eight Mother Palms clipped from a practise session in Spain. I've studied bagua with my teacher, Taoist Lineage Holder Bruce Frantzis, since 1994. The palms are accompanied by a discussion on Taoism, Lao Tzu and the genuine, millennia-old origins of our bagua system. you execute these movements with parallel stepping yet in other videos its done with bow stance .Using bow stance makes it harder to step through where straight step its fine please advise

    • @PaulCavel
      @PaulCavel 3 года назад

      You can practise Circling Hands either way. Wu stylists usually use parallel feet, while Yang stylists usually turn out the back foot to an angle.

      @@PaulCavel Many thanks for your reply I practice both Yang and Wu and have played with both with regards to the Circling Hands .Yang style bow stance lends itself to hip turning due to the 45 degree back step, where as Wu lends itself more to waist turning due to it's parallel step .Is this correct Many thanks

    I watched Bruce's video too. I don't understand the purpose of this exercise. As Bruce points out, these circles already exist in tai chi et al. With regard specifically to tai chi, I am not familiar with Wu style, but in Yang style the three circles are in the first set and repeat over and over again throughout the form. This is a question, not a criticism.

    • @PaulCavel
      @PaulCavel 8 лет назад

      +Page Eric The purpose of the Tai Chi Circling Hands set is to hardwire into your body motion circularity on all planes in all directions. When you have achieved this (at least to some degree), you will start to notice how linear your tai chi form (or other internal art practice) actually is, and can then go about the process of eradicating all straight lines generated by reciprocal inhibition of your muscle groups, which has no place in any internal art. Hope this helps! Good luck with your practice, Paul

    Paul! Thank you so much. This video helped me greatly with improving my standing posture. I can really feel the stability in my lower legs and feet. I've read Bruce's book on the Energy Gates and this was the clarifying step I needed to properly get my alignment correct for the basic standing posture. Much obliged.

    Re Ninpomasta111: Only a small percentage of the D&T system is in the book and video. The initial technique is an advanced qi practice, which is only taught after achieving a solid grounding in the physical movements.

Thanks for so graceously sharing this with us. Now I'm so thankful...I'm going to plead with you to make a longer one with more repeats of each movement. ;o)

    Great presentation. Like the info around 6:00 about the "safety net" and sinking and dissolving energy. Basic information like this would be of such great benefit to people in this age of stress and especially meditators that don't have in person one-on-one instruction.

      Yes, Gods Playing in the Clouds was brought to the West by my teacher Bruce Frantzis. We do not use visualisations in our school as our focus is on internal nei gong development. You can learn more on my website and contact my staff from there if you're interested in training with me. Good luck.

    Do you not pull from the front and push from the back a bit too?

    • @PaulCavel
      @PaulCavel 9 лет назад

      Hi Rupert. There are various stepping techniques in bagua: mud stepping always uses the pulling of the front leg; at slow speeds, mud stepping uses the pushing off from the rear heal to shit weight but, when walking at faster paces, drops this component in order to create fluidity and continuum. Otherwise, fast walking produces inertia -- the very quality bagua seeks to obliterate. Of course there are a number of modifications to this principle that are well beyond the scope of this medium.
