Welcome to my channel and Northern Michigan! This will be my video catalog journey about the great outdoors. Food plots, hunting, fishing, camping , tree and shrub nursery, microgreens, wood working, and anything crazy and cool in between. I will also feature my newest passion starting a chestnut orchard: Seed to field, to producing nuts on the trees, to harvest seeds.
We rented a lodge in Mio Michigan
We took a mini vacation to Mio, Michigan where we met my brothers and sisters and their families and spent some time together and through the new years eve into 2025.
I also take you to the Mio Hydro power dam and the Au Sable river and the portage over the dam.
I also reveal some of my plans and goals for 2025 with this youtube channel moving forward with a lot of new things planned.

In this video I show step by step how to make primitive arrows using red osier dogwood. Inspired by the Native American way of life and always having a respect for the Indian lifestyle, I am inspired to try it myself. This is the first half of a 4 part video series and show you all the way to straightening the arrow. These series videos are longer than I normally make, so take it all in. #arrow...

Second to the last day of this new late firearm deer season in Zone 2 of Northern Lower Michigan. Do I get to shoot a deer today? Happy New Year!!
felt like the rut was a little early this year in my neck of the woods
Agreed. Rut early, and antlers being cast early. My late antlerless hunt. I thought I shot a nice doe. Ended up being a buck with cast antlers
@@M32outdoorsoh wow !
Wow no chains, you could do way better if you had chains. My 2WD 35 horse Ferguson wont pull my hat off especially on wet ice, without chains
When one misses rock hunting this is what they do 🥶 I have been there, done that. Nice finds😊
Thanks. When you get the itch, you get the itch and go. ❤️
Id get the hide off first ,then quarter up and hang hind quarters and back straps ,week or so on hind quarters few days on straps. Will see it starting to sweat when ready
Very good info! Thank you! We try to process at the week to 10 days mark
But we take the inner tenderloins out once we get it home
Oh nice! I harvested some more dogwood few months ago. Grows all over the areas near me in upstate NY. I am gonna harvest more soon.
Awesome! That's always great news when you have a lot to work with!
Wonder how it is that one tree survives so well? Are there more? Maybe you have a blight resistant tree? I have some regular chestnut trees, but they are getting the blight. Love to buy some that were naturally resistant. Would like to plant natural trees as apposed to hybrid Chinese cross.
That's a good question. I talked with someone in Ohio and he just made the simple comment of..."your so far up there in northern Michigan that maybe the blight never got up that far" I'm not sure, but I'm happy.
There are a lot of smaller ones nearby. But I can't seem to find a second one producing catkins and nuts? But Am chestnut doesn't self pollinate? So, I'm not sure.
Brrrrrr!
Yes...burrr...it's even colder today
I process it same day. Usually too warm to hang longer than overnight.
That's usually the case up here in October, but recently it's been well below 40 degrees
I personally don’t age my deer but I would be careful after like a week or so because even though it’s freezing bacteria can get on it
That is true. We try to have it processed within a week or so. 😁
Blustery cold day at the beach but looks like you found a few keepers. 👋😎👍
yes, blustery. And i did find a few, and looking back over the video while editing. Looks like i missed a few!..lol
How many Petoskey Stones did you see that I didn't pick up? Or other cool rocks?
It has to be frustrating that the loader is so slow.
Goodnesss YESSS!!! The hydraulics on this little guy is sooo slow....but im glad i have a loader.
Wow no chains, you could do way better if you had chains. My 35 horse Ferguson wont pull my hat off on wet ice without chains
@joedoe-sedoe7977 no chains. Haven't really been in a spot where I've needed them. :)
We have had such mild weather! but that has changed as of today, hasn't it?
My fat @ss seriously thought that was a White Chocolate Chip Raspberry cookie from Subway in the thumbnail. Nice rocks and a very peaceful video.
Received 14” in those two days here in East Jordan.
yeah, its a lot.
Makes me feel chilly but beautiful looking none the less
same, from my cozy jammy pants and hot coffee.
in my 70 years in michigan it has been called still hunting which i always thought was a weird phrase because you are not still.
yep, i get it. This new property i have been anything but still. Its been cold and for me, a long walk to where i see "good hunting sign" usually gets me to warm and sweaty, so i just move slowly, but not still. :). Thanks.
Have same tractor , hard to start when 80 degrees amazing how good yours started.
wow, I thought the issues would only be with super cold weather, but 80? and trouble, weird. I do love this little machine. Do you have trouble starting yours in cold weather?
Where about are you located? By Dutchman’s Bay Area here.
We live in EJ but the orchards are out between Ellsworth and Atwood.
@@M32outdoors Sure is a small world!
Not everyone can afford a garage. It is what it is. I have stuff outside too. sucks, but that's life.
True. I also have a lot of stuff too.
Agreed. All my equipment is outside, some covered with tarps , some not. You make do with what you have.
Put your finger over the indicator and when you start to feel your finger burn you know to try to start it. I did that for years on my International 284.
Thats a good idea....Sometimes im lazy and just count to 30...Thank you
I just don't understand why people spend so much money for a piece of equipment and let it set out like this. As my long deceased dad always said, if you cannot keep it under roof, you should not own it.
Brand new equipment will sit outside for years at dealerships
What a machine
Thanks. She does run quite well for its age.
Good morning, new subscriber here. I enjoyed watching your Kubota in action. I have a b2601 and I love it. Thanks for sharing, have a great week, Ben 👋😎👍❄️
Thanks! That's awesome. I love these older machines,! What year is yours?
@M32outdoors we bought ours new in 2020. It has about 600 hours on it. I ask a lot of it, and I am always amazed at what these tractors can do! 👍
@whenworkisplay awesome!
Dang! Petosky stones just laying there! Water is so calm
It is a very unpicked section of beach.
Buy one of those covers at CTV to cover cars
Thats a good idea. didn't think of that. Thanks
For no reason, i oddly feel like satisfied
yes, it is. :)
What is your favorite Christmas ornament made with natural wood?
Have you found any flint/chert in the wild? What is your favorite?
I will be making a separate video about the Chaga Mushrooms. It is a great find! What are your favorite mushrooms?

bird chirping, its wonderful and my favourite animal aswell

@@damienchin5988 lol
I really want to get one of these.
They help quite a bit with seeing inside the blind. Doesn't feel so dark
How do your vehicles even start ? You are one strong person to live where it gets so cold ! Lovely sunrise though!!
Remote start from inside...lol......
Heck, we had 14 in western North Carolina last week
We all are getting more snow than our totals from last winter! :)
it was 14° when i went home last night, damn warm ngl
ugh....its gonna stay cold here for a couple more days then reach back up near 40 Monday.
@M32outdoors damn, 40? das hot :O
@@Thunder_Star yeah....weird roller coaster weather fo sure
Bruh it’s like 60 this morning in Texas I walk out with my sandals
Wanna trade? ...ugh
Hey Matt, thats a good point about the more snow the taller the deer get.
I haven't seen the deer eating my trees yet, but I've watched plenty of hunting videos/others of deer being able to reach further up a tree for food. Thanks Joey
The country side in Michigan is so beautiful covered in snow is even more
I agree, thanks for commenting.
I have two of the Tidewe blinds and use a HME support pole due to the snow here in North East Minnesota. I got mine thru Amazon.
Thats awesome! is it made for the tidewe or a multi pop use? Either way. didn't think they made one! thank you!
@@M32outdoorsBased on my experience with the HME support post it should work on most any pop-up blind with the center hub system incorporated into the roof via the hub and poles. The support pole has a removable flange or cup that has two Velcro straps that will attach the cup to the support poles at the hub for removal of the post when you are in the blind. The support post has a screw in the post to allow the post to move up and down so you can remove the post while inside and keep the cup or flange still attached to the ceiling hub. So far I have had 4 to 6 inches of very wet heavy snow on mine and its held up with no problem. I own two Tidewe ground blinds and one barronett ground blind and it works for both. Got mine last year during our rifle season and used it during both our rifle and muzzle loader season with great results.
Thank you! I will definitely look into these. Here in Northern Michigan we keep ours up through New Years to be able to hunt till end of season, then we take them down. We had a total of over two feet already this year and had to clear them off twice. These support poles will be a great addition. 😁
Beautiful 😻
yes it is, cold, but beautiful! thanks for commenting.
I have one on my place. It is quite tall. I noticed the leaves this fall and looked it up. I'll watch in may for pods. morgan cty.,tn
That's awesome!
I have three American chestnut trees on my 5 acres. Two healthy and one other, all three produce seeds. This year 2024, 4140 nuts. Alto Michigan. The largest is 97 inches around. 100 plus years.
Oh my goodness. That's huge! Not to mention a lot of nuts!!!
Have a muzzle loading hunting for the last 20 years. Bought a new inline muzzle order 10 years ago. Really love it. And now you can use any weapon you want during muzzle loading season. Personally, I'm still hunting with my muzzle loader. I took my buck this year during both season. I'm just looking to close the deal on a big, doe. But with the new laws in effect this year, you can hunt. I believe until January 12th. For doe. Good luck to all aim small, miss small how true.
I guess zone 1 (Yoop) is kept muzzleloader only. Good luck getting your doe. I absolutely love late archery season, but apparently late archery only doesn't exist anymore. So, I'll be sharing the deer woods with my late doe hunter friends. Good luck. And yes, aim small,.miss small
