Armscor says the light piston is for 2.75" shells and heavy is for 3.00" shells. It is my understanding that 3.0s usually throw more metal but at a slightly reduced velocity. It is my further understanding that with the gun recoiling rearwards rapidly then enough power has to be used by the gas system to force the bolt carrier and bolt to "outrun" the recoil of the gun. The heavy piston actually delays opening the action a millisecond or longer than the light piston (added volume to gas circuit = longer time to build pressure) but when it does set the lockwork in motion it's average speed is a little higher (speed sustained better by bigger reservoir of high pressure gas). Annnnnnd it's a considered guess of mine that the felt recoil of a VR firing 3" mags will be less using the piston intended for it. That's what I heard.

Yeah never rest the muzzle on anything unless it's like a nice clean wooden surface. Wife's coffee table works.

Owned my VR-80 and VR-81 for nearly 2 years and just a little under 1,000 rounds each. Very little feed or ejection issues. One of the first things I did when I got them was to get rid of the lame factory stock and put on a practical 6 position adjustable stock. The BRM 20-round drum mag is also a nice upgrade to the 12ga. As far as I know, there is a drum mag made for the 20ga version

I’m a lefty but I have just learned to shoot shottys from my non dominant hand. Pistols I only shoot left handed. No way around it since most shottys eject on the right. I think it is a plus to get familiar with using my non- dominant hand and it’s working out pretty well.

I have the all black model .. it came with 2 x 5 mags but no case.

I use the light one for all rounds never have a problem.

Thank you for making this video. I had my heart set on the white storm trooper one and then I saw this video and I went down and I bought the exact same package. And yes it came with everything you showed in your video. I still don’t know what the angle things are for either, I’ve had it for about two years and I still haven’t had time to shoot it but I definitely like it better than the white one. Thank you again for the video and your opinion mine was a little bit more than yours. It was $ 820 if I remember correctly but I also bought 2 10 round mags I guess they’re actually nine.

My VR always jams using quarter inch brass...half inch brass flawless every time ..and I've used light gas piston with Winchester super x 7 and a half shot 1255 velocity rounds never had a problem

I just did a similar build but with QPQ coated SS barrel.

So ive the 20g vr82 heavy pistion shooting 3 in bird and it is not ejecting any of them but the #2 buck comes out fine and i was wondering if it would be okay to shoot the 3 inch birdshot with the light load its 1 1/8 oz the brass part is about the size of your heavier shots but the light load piston was shooting the 2 3/4in 7/8 oz #9 shot just fine its my first gun been doing mad research but i can find anyone talking about this

As a lefty myself I'm not a huge fan of bullpup guns which eject right side only, due to extreme proximity to the face. Also, reason one should always wear *eye protection* when shooting. Other than that issue the Escort BTS model isn't bad for the price. Purchased one in .410 bore for my wife, as she doesn't like the recoil of a 12ga. Haven't put as many rounds through it as we would like to due to difficulties finding .410 buckshot, but it works well when we do fire it.

Hi, just saw a YT video on Firefield's website for the Charge XLT laser & light combo. I have 3 Firefield products (happened to be my first reflex optic) Then purchased the red laser/light combo, unintentionally, not realizing it too was Firefield until mounting it, to my surprise and satisfaction (matching manufacturer and quality for price) However, the laser light combo (and single green laser charge) are definitely different than what Firefield's YT video shows. Maybe it's the "XLT" version that's different, or Firefield "re-designed" the charge to be more compact, etc. I have to say I like the traditional Dbal/PEC design appearance, finger adjustable W&E, (have to have an Allen key on the ones I have) But mostly like the looks of the pressure pad port on yours/XLT model, the ones I have the port and plug in are super loose & exposed to either fall out, or get smacked.. They do have the buttons on the backside of the module, which seems to be more handy and accessible to actuate. If you know what the differences might be and/or whether or not the Charge "XLT" model is still available, if you could let me know.. Thanks for the info and quick review... I'm certainly in no need of the $8-$1200 Dbal, IR, etc.. Unless the US is invaded by a professional military, I don't see myself in need of anything super high end... Unless we're allowed access to direct manufacturer purchasing... And they keep em sub$500, then a strong maybe... Happy building my man..

Was the handguard added to this model after purchase? Because I thought it came with the standard style handguard?

Are these any good? People dunk on cheap stuff all the time but I just need a light and a laser that holds zero I don't care to spend more than I need to.
