HAL is listening.
Check your rudder. Pressure from the tail wheel can make the rivets tear apart.
Hey so what city, state area is this video made from?
how does the xwind effect the aircraft what is the max x wind
that is pretty good I only get a 25 mile radius for all my 40 hrs of phase 1
Really liked your narration of videos and the multiple angles. Wondering what you’re flying these days.
Yo! Spooked me when that other plane crossed you from your 2:oo! Nice video’s
As a new subscriber, I am really enjoying your videos. I hope that you decide to get back to making more as they all seem to be about two years old at a quick glance.
Bro! You GOT me! First video I’ve seen. Like your style. 2 years old now, so things may have changed, but I have subscribed and definitely will be checking out some more of your videos.
Very nice I just bought one can’t wait to fly it A model 👍what size engine ?
Nice. Good to see what "normal" every-day operations are like. Makes me want to get back in the air :)
How are you connected to your handheld? Bluetooth?
Curious, what was ur load weight with the 2 of u?
The EFIS go bye-bye? Did not see you drop any flaps. I like how you talk through what you're doing.
Flaps on landing? What is your practice?
Hi John--I have a Sonex Waiex and have been making videos. I really like your multi-camera shots. What cameras are you using? Also what video editing software do you use? Thanks...Mimi
Hi John thanks for the video. Nice commentary.
Thank you so much for the videos. Seems like a very flat approach. Is there a reason that you come in so flat?
Really late to the game here but does your Stratux have a good external GPS in it? The inexpensive Mems gyro in its AHRS has poor drift specs and the GPS is needed to correct for that drift.
Mind me asking what weight are you? I big guy ;)
Hey john, is flying the Sonex light and bouncy like a Cessna 150? But FASTER !
Hi John, I enjoyed your video. As it played, I paid close attention to your airspeed indicator. From my experience, it appears to be working perfectly. Please note that when your are in your landing configuration with a high angle of attack environment, and you do windward slip activities to maintain runway alignment, you will always see an airspeed disturbance - especially if your pitot tube is located on the lee side of the slip. While I would pay close attention during your walk-arounds, I wouldn't bar press too much over this. It's just a part of gathering it all in as you acclimate to your ship.
Time for more videos!

Nice paint job these planes look better all one color like yours 👍
Very helpful - thank you
What engine? Could you comment on your carb and carb heat set-up? Does your carb have mixture control? Seems like you have more power than a VW. A friend running a Zenith said he has to run the pump full time. If I remember, he said during testing with pump off, engine quit at altitude. I can't remember if it was 5000 or over.
John runs a 3300 Jabiru.
Nice flight and narrative. No weathervaning, good.
Be nice to install an AOA/lift reserve indicator and fly that on approach rather than the ASI.
Nicely done...yes, pucker factor in gusting cross-wind take-offs and landings. Just know your own personal limits/comfort factor (I probably would have scrubbed the flight and went up another day) For the fuel pump, I personally learned: on - to prime the carb, off - for start; on - for the duration (taxi, T/O, flight, and landing) only turning it off in the event of nearing the surface during an emergency landing. With the bi-plane and other tail dragger experience, I would think you have gotten good at 'walking the pedals' for helping control the bouncing around on gusty landings.
If that aircraft is ever for sale,I would be interested!!!!!!!!!!!!
What engine do you have?? Im confused ,when you mentioned the fuel pump.
Airspeed - my pitot static (the factory recommended one from Aircraft Spruce) suffers from big calibration errors at low speed and high angles of attack. Flaps 30 also just makes a nonsense of the ASI at high angles of attack. Anything below 40 KIAS (I fly in knots) and I take it with a BIG pinch of salt and pay more attention to the seat of my pants and the VSI. I use Downwind 80KIAS, Base 70KIAS, Final 60KIAS and over the fence at 60 - then slow, flare and put her down by eye - the ASI is saying anything from 35 to 45 KIAS. Depends what I am doing with flaps 20/30 at that point. Here are some stall numbers I developed: ruclips.net/video/rNuGon8IbGE/видео.html&ab_channel=graemejwsmith My logbook says I fueled at KUSE 28th July 2012 - while on a flight from Iowa to Rhode Island!
What engine do you have?
John is running a 3300 Jabiru.
You made it look easy! What toe brake set up are you running?
Pretty cool! Thanks for sharing!
Friend on mind just purchased a Sonex with an 80 hp Aerovee engine. Can you specify your engine size, and how much y’all weighed for this flight? We are worried if we fly together, we will be over gross weight. Thanks, enjoyed!!
Thanks for sharing this! my Stratux appears to have the exact same issue... watching for firmware updates for a while now.
I think the exhaust wrap is a good thing as it so close to the oil lines. Great video Baron!!
Good video! Just a suggestion ... I installed an LRI (Lift Reserve Indicator) in my Cleanex (Corvair powered Sonex) and it is very steady on the readout and gives excellent information for short field take-off and landings. You can see it here in this video (old video from flight testing so please excuse the quality) on the top left of the panel. When the wheels chirp (at :28) it reads one notch into the red zone. ruclips.net/video/WjA7JDJVKeQ/видео.html I can get really consistent approaches regardless of weight, density altitude, etc.
Nice video buddy!!
I'm your first thumbs up and second subscriber haha. Way ta go my friend. Check the pitot tube obstructions. Your idea sounds valid as well.
Congratulations on the purchase of N801UD! I’m glad she found a new home! You’re going to love it! I’m not far away; I keep my Jabiru 3300 powered Waiex at KMRT. Hopefully I can run into you somewhere!
