Incredible DIY Camper Build (FULL VAN TOUR)
Join me for a tour of my DIY Mercedes Sprinter camper van conversion which took an estimated 500hrs to complete. The van is fully off-grid and self contained and includes a shower and toilet. We converted this van with no prior van building experience and completed the build in our spare time and holidays while working full time and then spent a year living in it full time while we explored Australia.

Thank you ☺️ the finished and certified weight was 3.6t without any water or any of our stuff. I guess around 4-4.2 fully loaded, which was below the limit of 4.5t we were working too. I think it was about 2.6t before we started

This shows how to take the first one off, which ive repeated. But what about the others? The cabling makes it impossible to get the covers off the other 3
I used the same process on all of them, didn’t have any issues so only showed the one. Don’t have the van anymore either to check for you. Hope you got it sorted
The interior: *covered in rat shit, cobwebs and mould* The engine bay: “man I love being in a showroom where it’s nice and dry and warm”
Found one just like this here in Swaziland with a broken rear shield and idling issues. It starts and dies randomly, but parts are so rare here.
Damn, hope you find some parts! They were quite a common car here, so lots of parts. Lots available for import on the internet too

Next thing I’ve gotta do is upgrade the head unit, put something modern with CarPlay etc in it. Down the track would love to put a bigger turbo and retune it. What sort of content are you interested in?

Nothing in the immediate future for the car other than a head unit and some more maintenance, but have some bigger plans down the track! What sort of stuff are you interested in seeing?

is wrx motor reliable as wrx sti?
They are fairly reliable with stock power or a mild tune. The sti motors handle higher power better
So it should work on a 2017 facelift Mazda cx-5 base model right?
Should do. Access to the the head unit etc might just be a bit different in terms of how you get to it

Will you build this Grandma one? I lose my Apt in October and I have no where to go. I’m terrified. I wouldn’t have the first clue how to do all that! It’s so hot here in FL without those vents and electricity, I’d die in my car. Everything you did is so intricate yet adds to quality of life. Truly amazing. I am so impressed. I wish you were my Son, or Son in law lol Because She is just as amazing and smart! I’d be proud to call either of you mine 😊

Cheers! Short term I’m just gonna sort out a few little maintenance things and probably do a double din apple car play head unit. Long term thinking is bigger turbo, intercooler and dyno tune

From what I remember when I had a Mazda 6 the screen is touch when the vehicle is not moving?
Yes the vehicle must be stationary for touch to work
My wife recalls our 2016 Mazda 3 as having a touch screen, but this one doesn’t have it

Are you gonna modify this beauty ?
Not much in the short term. It’s got some minor mods already (exhaust, suspension, wheels). Longer term though I’d like to go bigger turbo & intercooler and then push a bit more power into it
