Deck Trains Week Seventy Nine
WEEK SEVENTY-NINE: Sep 4, 2024 { Sid Meiers }
From 1988, we have the Roco® #43514 DRG BR E 71 29. 27 units were built from 1914 to 1921 for main line freight service. The Preußische EG 51X series was initially rated at 50kph, but later modified to reach 65kph ( 40.39mph ) and nicknamed ‘Iron’. All were withdrawn from active service by 1958 and at least three survive in preservation in the Koblenz, Berlin and the Dresden Transport Museums.
So, since this is 2024, after 1958 - my version does not function. I have put in a number of hours over the past three weeks trying to get the wiring and bogie contacts to work in unison, but have been - so far - unsuccessful. SO, instead we will featur...

    Wow! Great video. Brought back memories. I bought a Shifter kit back in the early '60s. My dad and I built it together. I ran it on my layout. When I moved out, all my trains stayed behind. I got them back when Dad sold the house in 1979 but there was no Shifter. I never found out what happened to it. I still have cars and buildings from when I was a kid. I've been thinking of looking on eBay. You've inspired me to try to get one. Thanks.

    I have one of those too but it runs for a few seconds, makes a weird high pitched squeal and stops unless i push down on it

      These Fleischmann ’ring’ motors are needy. I fully cleaned and re-oiled all the shafts and gears before shooting. I find most of my whines and squeals come from the armature, and oiling behind the drive gear and next to the commutator is tricky. Enjoy your Loco.

    On the parts where you voiceover with the audio of the trains, you could make either the video quieter or your voice audio louder, so it can be heard better. Nice filming, and editing though, also a very nice video description

      I was on top of a fence and clearance was marginal, I would say I 'flinched' as the locomotive arrived. The next few seconds of video were chaotic as I dropped/jumped/fell to the ground. So - I show the best, delete the rest. Thanks for watching!
