Sintra Portugal, tour of Pena Palace plus Castelo dos Mouros and a walk around Sintra
Sintra is a day trip from Lisbon. As such it tends to get overrun with tourists during the day. As such some of the sites like the Pena Palace can be a bit overwhelming with tourists. I describe a few hacks on how to make your visit a bit more agreeable. Sintra is a must see. It has quite a number of sites to visit . We stayed for almost a week. Sintra sits n a mountain of sorts and has a unique micro climate. It can be hot in Lisbon and Sintra can be in the 70's

The Portuguese Camino day 9 , Labruja to Ponte de Lima
Просмотров 7212 часов назад
This is the final video of our Portuguese Caminos. We explored 3 routes the Litoral, Coastal and Central Caminos and by far the Central route was the most agreeable. There is something about these Caminos that leave you wanting more. A bit like having an opening of sorts. We're still processing our Caminos. As a disclaimer we had not intended on walking al the way to Santiago from Porto. We act...

This is the Portuguese Central Route. We wanted to get a flavor of 3 Portuguese Caminos. I also think the Litoral and the Coastal Routes did not do it for us. Those 2 routes have to much development for our taste. We're looking for less development and we did find the Central to be more to our liking. It's a wonderful way to have a very unique experience of a country. Lets face it everyone goes...

We are currently on the Central Portuguese route at the town of Caminha. The natural next step is to take the water taxis across the river to the Spanish side to continue our journey to Santiago. However it was not our intention to walk all the way to Santiago as we just completed the French Camino in Northern Spain. We are just exploring the Litoral the Coastal and the Central Caminos to get a...
Camino de Santiago the Portuguese Way Day 6 , Viana to Caminho

Viana do Castelo is a favorite town for us. Caminho is also a fun place to visit. The country side is getting more natural but because the distance to Caminho is long we took an Uber from Viana about 25 minutes up the coast. Bypassing some of the development and making the walk doable. Caminho is the last town before crossing into Spain. If you are walking you would have to take a water taxis t...
Camino Portuguese Day 5, Antas to Viana do Castelo

We finished the Camino Frances and decided to review the Portuguese Way. We started with the Litoral Route but found it lacking. To much development for our taste. So we employ a few strategies to skip undesirable sections. Viana is an unknown gem. Forget the crowds in Lisbon or Porto, Viana is a true gem. You must visit the Santuario de Santa Luizia Complex. If you can afford it stay at the Po...

We've been on the Litoral (beach) Route and have decided to switch to the Coastal Route to get a more typical /traditional Camino. The Coastal Route is by far much more natural but still weaves in and out of the beach. So you get a nice taste of both caminos. It is not our intention to walk all the way to Santiago as we have already completed the French Camino. We are exploring the Portuguese r...

A Quick Disclaimer, my description of this camino is my personal preference, preferring a more natural ,less commercial , less crowded walk. There are many pilgrims that love this camino,. For this reason we explore all three Portuguese routes to get a sense of the differences. In this video we tire of the endless development in certain areas and take an Uber to get to less condensed areas.

If I can give any pilgrim advice it is to skip the very 1st section that goes through the heavy urban coastal area. In this video we interview 3 pilgrims . It's always interesting to hear why folks are doing the camino. I stop a German couple ,as they are going the opposite direction. When asked they respond that they had already finished the Portuguese Camino and are doing it in reverse becaus...
Camino de Santiago, Day 1 ,The Portuguese Litoral Route. Start in Porto

We just finished the French way Camino de Santiago . I suppose as a way to process what we had just completed we decided to start a new camino starting in Porto Portugal. There are 3 routes one can take. The Litoral route which closely follows the actual sea shore, the Coastal route which is a bit more inland but does brush up against the coast at time and the Central route which as the name im...

When you walk the camino you are travelling upon the footpaths of pilgrims that had real quests for insight. I hope this video isn't to personal but I felt compelled to share it.

Some indispensable traveling accruements to make the journey a bit easier and a little cheaper and probably healthier. Watch as we demonstrate a simple collapsible cook pot, a basic water filter that affixes to a faucet to make filtered water and my personal bestie is my simple orange juicer. I love to have fresh squeezed orange juice in the morning. All this saves some money as you cook it you...

The final day! A bitter sweet to be sure. We vacillate trying to process this experience. Noy uncommon as we're spoken with other pilgrims that have similar doubts about finishing. Now we understand why pilgrims do multiple Caminos. We decided to take a bus to Porto Portugal and do the Portugal way

One day to Santiago! It's getting real about now. I've heard and have spoken with a few pilgrims about post Camino depression. I'm beginning to understand or at least am aware that something is ending. There are still some hills to climb but we 're doing a little less km in this section.

We're 2 days out from Santiago and I need to start to prepare you for the drop in morale when you actually complete the journey. I'll make a separate video post Camino, we are not alone. I've talked with many pilgrims that speak of an emptiness and that's probably the reason they do multiple caminos. Right now there are still kilometers we must complete. I Am a Man Who Will Fight for Your Honor...
