I honestly have no idea what happened. Not 50. How did I not see the diminishing numbers Simone? I sit and video them daily, counting them, it is all on my last videos. I was shocked when I realized there was only 12 left. I am sure some became food, but not 50. I know the ones that started to sleep in the trees most probably were taken over the wall. They are awake before me.

Poor things are they dying from the heat😔 interesting about the Barbet? Are they territorial, do they attack other birds?

​@@PinkandPossiblethey are sensitive to getting wet and it seems that they then catch a cold that kills them. I guess they can die from extreme heat as well especially if there is no water and the parents walk them to death. Guinea fowl do not kill other birds but they are territorial. Lots of rooster chasing and fighting. Thanks for watching. ❤

Then you hear the desperate little calls. The parents can't always successfully get them out of there especially when they are weak. It just breaks my heart 😢

I am trying my best. Unfortunately as soon as they can fly (which does not take very long) the adults take them over the wall to start walking and then I have no control and I don't see the little ones ever again, meaning they did not make it. 😢

@TheOutdoorNeighbors no. They can fly at 4 weeks old. I would be picking up dead bodies in the garden. Nothing of the sort. Remember they are wild. I do not coop them.

I have learnt a lot from this breeding season Simone. Nature is nature and I need to work harder not to transfer my human emotions onto the guinea fowls. They will climb the tree they climb the tree. If the weaker babies can't do it yet, they are left to stay on the ground. I made 2 grass nests for the hens with the tiny babies to stay dry and warm if it rains. No, the hens will lie in the middle of the lawn soaked to the bone with the babies under her. Guinea fowl want to walk. They want to walk the weaker ones to death. They don't want to sit in the garden all day long. Guinea fowl babies die. I think of 100 babies or more this season if we are going to have 15 adults it is going to be a lot. I have such a hard time dealing with the cruelty and harshness of nature and my brain just can't understand it. And then I begin to question things, which I shouldn't as it is a sin to do so. I can at times fully understand that other people must think I am bat crazy as often I feel so myself.

Thank you Gordon. So true and only if more people can realise the health benefits, especially mentally to just be in and with nature. It forces a person to slow down and relax. But unfortunately here we have a group of people that think the noise and air pollution of motorbikes and cars with cut exhaust pipes are the answer. 😢
