In the Southern Hemisphere is is Spring/Summer and with that comes new life. Birds' nests and baby birds in abundance. In Gqeberha, my city of residence in the Eastern Cape Province, South Africa, this time of the year is also accompanied by very regular, very strong winds which also means that a lot of little nests and baby birds get blown out of trees. For animal lovers this is a very busy time of the year trying to save these little defenceless creatures. Each species comes with its own challenges as different babies have different demands on how to be raised successfully.
I should have done a little bit more reading up while this little one was in my care. As I was putting this video together, I've realised that I knew nothing about bringing up little doves and I am affraid I might have released this one before it was fully ready to be on its own. I have also realised how imported knowledge of the timeframes are as that is a good indication of how long you should keep the little one in your care.
I hope that this video would be a one stop guide for other novice bird rescuers when they are faced with caring for a baby dove or pigeon.
I must say the 'bottle' feeding gave me immence pleasure and satisfaction.
People have reached out to me regarding what to do with rescued baby Egyptian Geese and Cape White Eyes. This has become the reason for the format and content of this video.
Thank you so much for supporting my channel.

You’re very caring and talented! I love this channel 😎🦌
@@TheOutdoorNeighbors thank you so much. It does not always feel like a blessing. I am killing myself cutting the grass and am neglecting my own place, but I know I must do it to prevent the municipal tractor from coming in and mowing over the guinea fowl. 😢. Thank you for your support.
That’s terrible! I’m sure they don’t care about wildlife ☹️
Nice sharing 😊
Wow how beautiful and informative ❤ Such a sweet sweet bird 🥰
Thank you so much. I value your opinion very much ❤

Very interesting stuff Sonet♦
Thank you Anne. ❤
Did you ever consider becoming a vet Sonet! You are naturally apt to taking care of birds and other animals. That little bird trusted you with its life. ❤
I was not allowed to choose my own career path as a young girl remember. I was forced to become a musician by my mother. I hated every minute of it. Here to become a Vet is a 7 year degree. I had my fill of studying Simone. ❤
@@SonetLandman I do remember you saying you couldn't choose your career. I think you would have made a most wonderful Vet! Saying that, you are good at all the things you are passionate about! 😍

@SonetLandman welcome 💚
You do such wonderful work, cousin!
@@charmellewessels3892 thank you Charmelle. I am trying. Not always successful and it is also often a huge learning curve for me. I had no idea that this is how to feed a baby dove. They will not eat any other way and it is actually one of the easiest baby birds to feed. Thank you for your support. ❤️
Wow, this is so precious. You did such a great job with it ❤
Thank you so much. ❤
Thank you!
I must say thank you to you for watching and always supporting my efforts ❤
@@SonetLandman Thank you for your educational videos on how life is there. So much is the same yet different. When I see people walking or driving there I know they have a mission and I know God knows them as much as He knows me. I keep tabs on at least two people other than you who are from SA. One is Elon Musk and the other is Walter Veith.
