Thank you so much Stacy!! Happy Travels sis!
Yakoke for the excellent presentation. You may have travelled by Durant,Oklahoma where Choctaw headquarters is possibly? That was founded by my 3X great grandfather after my family came across the Trail of Tears from Durant, Mississippi which was named after my 5X great grandfather Captain Louis Durant.
I love the Choctaw Cultural Center, it is so informative and tells of the history of my people. I was very emotional after learning more about our sad forced march on the Trail Of Tears.
Thanks. I lived there for 6 months, 6 months ago. So romantic there.
You can’t be too long winded because you took a long walk Nice walk tour. Thanks
wow I am so glad I found your videos and thanks for that book recommendation
aw man! I wish I had seen this video before I booked my airbnb. Thanks for the vid. I leave out for porto solo tomorrow.
It's been neat to see Sac International grow from its original 1967 terminal, to the 30 plus gates it is today! It is definitely a hidden gem in a fast-growing region. I'll admit I'm anxious for the day when we finally land nonstop service to Europe and Asia, I'm always happy to hear when the airport announces a new nonstop to a different city. It only goes to show how the airport and the region has grown and has continued to grow over the years. I'm definitely excited about the airport's SMForward project as well, which will definitely put the airport on the map, if it hasn't already. One tidbit: for those who live north of Sacramento (like me, in Yuba City) and Roseville, the Elkhorn Boulevard extension off Highway 99 is a great shortcut if you want to avoid I-5. P.S. great video!!!
I loved visiting the cultural center! It was fun, emotional, and educational.
I was there this season. It was a fun time.
SMF was crowned the #1 "stress-free" airport in the U.S., with an 82.30% score for flight punctuality. Last year it scored sixth place in J.D. Power's North America Airport Satisfaction Study for large airports, which took into account factors like quality of terminal facilities, food and beverage options, and passenger experience at baggage claim. I love KSMF... but what I hate is the The Well used to have this awesome pretzel bun sandwich in the grab in go chiller -- but then all of a sudden...no more...
As a Sacramento residence I can agree with you. We always like returning and leaving SMF. Especially after an airport like San Diego!
Very nice airport once you get into the terminal. A complete disaster is getting in and out of it. It's huge for no reason. Which means you have to walk miles to get to where you are going. Car Rental, wait a very long time for a bus; the bus is not big enough, and it seems like you travel across the state to get to the rental facility. I hate going there.
Yes, the rental agencies are mad far! I forgot about that since SMF is home for me and I never need to rent a car when I land there. Your comment is a good tip for visitors.
L.A. resident here. I've been to Sacramento but never the airport. But, you know, you're at the midpoint between San Francisco and Lake Tahoe/Reno, the two major tourist spots. A tourist, already weary from a long flight, isn't going to look forward to 100+ mile drives between Sacramento and those points.
Yup, a long drive after a long flight is never fun, but I appreciate that Sacramento is the closest of California's major airports to Tahoe/Reno 💛
You did such a good job of explaining the real history of faire, as well as explain the purpose, I would definitely give you an A+ 💙🍖⚔️🌞
Aww thank you!
What's your favorite part of your local airport?
Our family has been attending for about a decade and we love the experience so much! Although our kids are grown they still enjoy the faire today as young adults. Thank you for your review! I think our Northern CA Faire is special indeed!
So glad you introduced the whole family to Ren Faires!
Nice review. A day at the Faire is always fun. I've been going since the 70s when it was at Black Point. My room mate was a character at the "Soak A Bloke" booth...he had some pretty interesting tales of the after hours parties.
Wow, you probably have some great stories, too! Thanks for watching 💛
Thanks for the review! Looking forward to going this weekend...I have to get my Toad In A Hole fix 🙂
Thank you for such a kind review of our faire! I'm so happy you had such a wonderful time! Hope you get to come back and play with us again soon!
Yet another Faire worker/reenactor here. Until you know you want to commit to the faire as a paytron (non-worker who dresses up and pays to get in) or a worker/actor, I would recommend renting a costume at Bellrose costume rentals. You can go a couple of different times and get a variety of costumes to see what fits your personality. Cotton is a must. Keep the amount of leather to a minimum, unless for safety reasons. Watch the bodice. You do not want to show too much and risk a wardrobe malfunction. (And be sure to hit the Fencing booth if you didn't this time. Where else can you have funning poking people with metal sticks. And if you are a fencer, they can use you as a worker.) Huzzah and well met. Master Shishkaberry from Dogberry's School of Fencing.
Great suggestions, thank you!
Thank you for your most gracious and enthusiastic review of our faire. I am exceedingly pleased that you had such a good time!! I'm also impressed that you had down some of the history of the Faire. Please do come back again. As for tips to increase your enjoyment of the faire, well, you already did the biggest one, Engagement with the townsfolk of Willingtown! Costuming/clothing, stick with natural fabrics (100% linen/cotton/wool) they breath better and are cooler than synthetics. (yes, even the wool is cooler than polyester). Simple loose pants or a long skirt and peasanty shirt make a good start. Wear COMFORTABLE shoes!!! Drink LOTS of WATER!!! Even when it is not very hot, spending all day in the outdoors can leave you a bit dry. Again, Thank you for your delightful (and informative!) review!!! I look forward to spotting you on your next visit!!!
Yes, great advice! I can’t wait to go back 💛
The Northern California Renaissance Faire is such a special place. I’m so happy you were able to experience the magic
Huzzah!
Gurl, you got it figured out. I'm working my first year and I'm so glad you got such great tea with the Queen. I ain't even met her yet. I'm just happy to be a cog in a weird, dirty, genuine machine. The people make the festival and you've proven worthy to be our people.
The tea was hot 😂 hope you can catch up with the Queen soon
We've been going since Black Pointe and my kids who are now off in college were raised going to Faire every year. We've been the several around the nation, but NorCal will always be our favorite. If you want to enjoy the best shows, I personally love the fools stage (especially the Washer Women, but I sure miss Moonie!). Tea with her Majesty should be tried once, and a massage at the massage booth is a great way to get refreshed halfway through a tiring day. We also love to bring little gifts and trinkets that we give to our friends at the faire as a way to increase the magic of interacting with other people. God Save the Queen!
God save the Queen!
I think Black Pointe was the best location, but Casa de Fruta is a good location too.
Hi! I'm one of the reenactors at NorCal Faire, in the Guild of St Swithin, the Mongers. We are middle class villagers walking the town, selling things like raw meats, soaps, vegetables, chamber pots, eggs, dung, etc, as there would have been in a normal Market Faire in the late 1500s. I just wanted to thank you so much for this wonderful, kind review! You also did such an amazing job of capturing the essence of our Faire. It is true that part of the magic of casa is that the camping out together for 6-9 weekends a year we all get to know each other very well. This gives us as actors so much more to work with improving in character. We also, as do other faires, take classes and practice and teach in the weeks before we open. But still, my friends from faire are all the closest in my life year round. And once you know someone very well you get those unspoken shorthands and inside jokes, and then we do it in Elizabethan! It's truly the most magical community ever. And I am sooooo touched and honored to know that you came to your first Faire and really felt that spirit we are working to create. This review really touched my heart. I feel seen, even though I wasn't there the weekend you visited, I feel seen as a part of my family/cast/community, and that magic is why I keep having to come back each year. Your joy and energy made my day. Hope to see you at Faire in the coming weeks. Come talk to the Mongers! Look for the raw meat! ❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
❤️ ❤️ ❤️
You can now add time traveler to your résumé 😉
If you come back and visit feel free to come by henna! Many of our artists have been around since the beginning or grew up in the community. We’d love to do some art for you.
The designs at the henna booth were GORGEOUS! Definitely going back for one.
I'm so glad you had a great time especially with my Maids of Honor (the gossip ladies). They have been working on "Lady Whistledown" style gossip tidbits and it's very entertaining. Northern is really a special place AND it is the only faire solely owned and operated by the participants (booth owners, actors, crew members, etc.) in the country. We take great pride in what we do and strive for interaction with the patrons. I (Queen Elizabeth) am usually in the Court Glade between 2:45 - 3:30pm. The Germans over at their camp right by the entrance always are good for stories as are the Washing Well Ladies! The Mongers and the Puritans are also good for a laugh. I hope you will return. Getting feedback like this makes all of the work we all do worthwhile. P.S. I have 7 of Tony's cups from As Wood As It Gets. I think I have a problem! 🙂
Thank You for this wonderful and glowing review of the Northern California Renaissance Faire, and especially the participants and stage performers of our little town of Willingtown! It is incredibly heartwarming to know that the hard work and effort made to provide a unique show is seen and appreciated! Your family, You and all our patrons is why we do this!! Thank You!!
Thank you too!
I've been working the Norcal Ren Faire for almost 20 years. You should definitely come back and have more fun with us! I do want to point out that our Faire is only 11 acres, not 100. Thank you for the amazing review!
❤❤❤
Oops! Thank you 😊
It warms my heart that you had a wonderful time in Willington! If you do come back this year and aren’t with any children, make a stop at the 21 and over. We have stage shows aimed for adults only. Plus the Ladies of the Mermaid Tavern can pass on some good naughty gossip as well. 😉
It's not 21 and over but I highly recommend The Broone Show^^
Definitely come back and play with us, great video! Love it.
Thanks! Will do!
What are your tips for a great Ren Faire experience? I'm looking at costumes for my next visit amzn.to/3ZxpEBs
Tip from a faire worker myself- keep it 100% cotton or Linen. No polyester blends. This will help keep you from getting overheated or any kind of heatstroke. Cotton/Linen breathes better and will not heat up from the sun so you'll stay cool. Also stay covered head to toe. It keeps the direct sun off your skin which also helps with overheating and sun damage. Hope this helps! We look forward to seeing you again!
Another Faire worker here! I definitely recommend comfortable footwear. If you are a paying customer, you have the freedom to wear whatever you need to be comfy and safe. BUT there are vendors at the faire who make amazing footwear, including the option to order custom shoes made to your measurements.
@@katelynherbert4923YES! Excellent advice!
I’m so glad you had an amazing experience! Another Faire worker from Danse Macabre 💀 Also, you can rent costumes at faire 😊
If budget is an issue, start with BASIC pants or skirt and top. Then you can add pieces every time you go, so that you only spend tons of money if you go back for tons of fun. The costume rentals are very nice as well.
Efkaristo ecmerka edadit hapi se stilno❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

So, a guy (from Ireland) who was living in Spain for years, didn't realize his pronounciation was a problem until he met you. In all his time in Spain nobody told him and he couldn't heAr the problem himself. Really, it's a miracle. To the beginners who are watching this video, I am sorry there are videos here like this with such misleading titles. There is no way you are going to have a funcional level of Spanish in less than a year. Even if you are lucky enough to enjoy total immersion you can only hope to have brief interactions before you are completely lost. Please be real with people madam. Unreal expectations kill motivation. By the way, I'm an Irish guy who reached a conversational level after TWO years that included periods of immersion.
Looking forward to viewing video!
Good video. Thanks for articulating solo travel well.
Glad it was helpful!
I have the same mindset about living and/or traveling for most time out the year outside the U.S. Working on it. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for watching!
you are so beautiful! And I'm excited to hear your story.
Thank you so much!!
freedom, problem solving, improvising, falling asleep at a park in italy for however many hours - like you said you can do what you want pretty much. I love that you mentioned the social parts too, like meeting new people and getting invited to opportunities that might be otherwise complicated with someone else. Love love love.
Instead of talking and telling us what you did it would’ve been a lot more interesting to actually show us
Thanks for watching 💛
Thank you for this! Going to Porto in August and beyond excited!
Stop talking shite ,why don't you learn russian in the next three months
Where are the photos? Boomer video
As an elder millennial, I graciously accept your compliment. Some of my favorite people are Boomers 💛
What’s a coworking space?
She made it complicated lol I had the same question. Basically your job
A coworking space is a place to work when you don't have an office. WeWork is a famous example.
Hazlo en español para el que no sabe inglés como yo entienda y aprenda inglés de esa manera
Only 3 months? Well this is extremely discouraging.
There is no way she was having any form of meaningful conversations with natives in less than a year. The title of this video is misleading and her story questionable. It takes significant time but it's worth it, keep going.
Don't be discouraged. There's no rush to learn in a short time. I studied for 6 hours every day for 3 months so that when I landed in Colombia I was able to converse with native speakers. I was not fluent, and had years more study to do, but the steps outlined in this video were a really great first step. Keep going, it's worth the effort 💛
