Hardest Thing You Can Do

Doing the right thing can be the hardest thing you will ever have to do. I have to stay strong because his step sister is missing him and she needs me. Wrangler was a rescue from Heaven Can Wait. He had a bad start in life. I am 100 percent positive he forgot about that. We were both grateful for our time together. It's been 48 hours and I am surprised I already feel a little better. EcoFlow Delta Pro Solar Panel Upgrade

This is Timcat and the off grid homestead. Tryna make Troy jealous one video at a time. With this setup I have reduced my grid-tied solar consumption by 50 percent, this enables me to sell more energy back to the grid and import less at night. Plus it is backup power in a grid down situation. During the warmer months my mini split air conditioner will be running 100% off grid.

Repair Solar Panel with Bad Diodes

At first I thought it was a bad MC4 connector. This panel out of circuit tested good. But when in parallel or series with another panel of the same size, it had zero amps. The junction box was filled with a white silicone. That made the task difficult and it looks messy. But hey it works. #solar, #solar diode.

Solar Powered Heat Pump And Future Plans To Heat Water
I salute your table of memories, not a speck of dust. How's the e-bike coming along?
I've only gone out riding 3 times. It's been to cold. Finally getting some warm weather today. And off I go.
A golf course would be green with envy with a backyard smooth as velvet. Geez year 4 for the fence. Recall the hand digging of post holes, you sure got a mega dose of vitamin D from the 🌞
Lawn's looking positively English, Tim. 😁 It's been a nice day here, today. Makes a pleasant change.
They should put rails on those roads...
I'm just glad I made it out alive. This was actually a good day.
Cool song...Have you heard that Troy has been missing for 3 months...No goodbye or nothing. Do you think that drone finally took him out?
Betcha TR had to save up for a box of ammo to lock & load in the "terminator" in order to combat another fictitious spy drone. Maybe one of those unsafe rusty vehicles broke down up at preacher of preparedness Bible camp & the cleansing light of day got too hot 🔥. Recall TR's life long avoidance of physical labor, calluses on those dainty hands & propensity to overheat easily from the mildest exertion. Imagine Bible camp had a fainting couch in the shade just for him.
I think his fence blew over and un-alived him.
Memories & memorials are important you may seek an easel, plate displays, a shelf with a lip at the edge and a routed channel to hold your precious memories. Most available at various home decor stores or a handyman's workshop made to order or a lucky find at a flea market or estate sale.
I found what I need on Amazon. Very nice setup I have got going now. Will upload a follow up vidja.
Best thing in the world to take your buddy to work. Bet Wrangler looked forward to those times too.
I had to take him to work. He had separation anxiety. Did that for a whole year then adopted Shakira and he was fine to leave at home with her companionship.
@@timcat1004 Agree a companion canine is essential.
@@quietkate I'm down to one dog now. The best part is I'm retired and we spend a lot of time together. Took her for a car ride today. That cheers both of us up.
Sorry to hear about Wranglers passing Timcat.
Sorry about you're loss Timcat100 I just lost my dog also
My condolences.
Sorry for your loss. I got one that's time is coming soon. It sucks
Use your heart. If you wait to long you will feel guilt. If you do it too soon you will feel guilt. Look into it's eye's and ask. Your pet will tell you when it's time. Your pet will tell you when it's time. It's one of the hardest things and the most selfless things you can do. God Speed brother.
Hi how are you
I'm fine. What do you want?
I had to put my cat down last week from heart cancer 😭. I miss her so much! But you just have to be strong and know that they wouldn’t wanna see you sad and depressed over their passing, weather it’s a loved one or an animal family member, they will always still be watching over you and protecting your soul, waiting for you to return to them when your time comes. But never hold in your feelings or think of suicide because that’s never what they would’ve wanted to happen to you.
Yes, by gosh Wrangler did the right thing taking on Tim. The greatest gift is a sense of belonging & in turn years of joy, matched with devotion, companionship & fur to occasionally vacuum. A safe haven resolute kindness, ice cubes to chew & decent chow. The thought of an empty lounge chair in front of the widescreen brings tears to my eyes, too.
It's been four days. I've gone through multiple stages of emotion. Yesterday was the anger stage. I took a long bike ride and I'm sore today. I pumped most of my anger into the pedals. Today I started cleaning up the house. Wrangler was an indoor pisser. He had three favourite spots. Years ago I moved furniture and a camera tripod in front of those spots to deter from pizzing there. I removed those barricades today. Another one was the chicken wire around the bottom of my back deck. He was pooping under there where I had a hard time getting to it. Over the years I just kind of got used to it and how he held me hostage in my home. As much as I miss him I'm actually feeling some relief. I do believe he was sent to me as a challenge from above. Spell Dog backwards with a Capital G. I'd do it again and I might just do that. I loved that Dog.
I hear ya brother. Gut wrenching. Wishing you well
That's why we overpanel! Great cloudy production! I'm running 1800 watts on my delta pro. Nice job!
Always the hardest thing to do.
It really is, Tim. My heartfelt best wishes are with you. So long, Wrangler.
Man oh man i am sorry for you...But some times it is the best thing you can do for your pet.. Sorry for your loss
That small wire always scared me and I, too, replaced it but I have 10gauge for now and higher voltage.
I retired in Jan of 2023 and some days I miss driving around getting paid $39 an hour.
Nice setup.
Is there a reason why you didn't move the bottom rail down a bit? You've had to position the top of the panels at roughly the same place where the old ones were but with those new panels (228cm) being much taller there's now a pretty big overhang at the bottom. You mentioned snow potentially collecting at the bottom - and add in some blustery wind - and I think that you may be risking it. Anyway, just a thought. Thanks for the video. I enjoyed seeing your setup.
I measured and thought about it. It's pretty close to being divided into thirds. The rack is also adjustable. In the winter time the panels will be closer to vertical. Heavy snow will slide off just like it did last winter.
Are you exceeding the voltage those Delta Pro's can handle with those big panels or do you have them in 2s2p configuration?
2S2P 100 volts.
@@timcat1004 what were you seeing with two of them in series vs. two in series and parallel? I'm asking because I have the Renogy 550w bifacial -- LOVE THEM! But have 4 of them ... 2 for each DP i have and maybe I should reconsider and just put all four of them in 2s2p configuration like you have. What kind of wattage are you seeing with them? Have you seen it max out at 1600w?
@@tlteal It maxes out at 1,350watts in partial cloud and full Sun. Turns on earlier and shuts down later (15.9 amps) at 10 C. I expect the wattage to hit a little higher in the winter when the voltage climbs. You are saying you have two DP's and two arrays. Leave it like that. If you make the four panels into one array you can only charge one DP at a time.
@@timcat1004 yes I have 3 arrays. Each array is for each DP and the other array is for my 48v battery.
@@timcat1004 get yourself a Bluetti Pv Step down module, it works for ecoflow. It will step down the voltage under 150 so you can put a bunch of panels in series
Something is really noisy inside... are those the delta-pros or something else? Otherwise, nice upgrade! Though you may want to find a solution to the noise if its as bad as it seems coming through on the audio. My setup is dead silent using discrete components. Victron charge controllers, discrete 48V (51.2V LFP) batteries, and three small inverters which I hacked to add an additional always-on "slow" fan to which can't be heard. Their real fans on the inverters turn on only when the load exceeds roughly 50%, which almost never happens. And nothing else has any fans. Silence is golden 🙂 -Matt
I will be hacking the fans if the noise gets to me.
@@timcat1004 you should get a delta pro ultra, I sleep next to mine :-)
Nice upgrade! What was the cost on the new panels and what did you get/ask on the old ones? A 545 watt panel is serious power.
The old ones are in the garage. I'm thinking of buying a garden shed. Put the old panels on there and connect them to a resistive heater in the garage. I will make up my mind after a couple more double cheeseburgers.
When charging, how do you avoid exceeding the 1600w and 150v / 15a EcoPro charge limit?
The built in charge controller won't let it get over 15.9 amps. That is why over-panelling on the Delta Pro is easy.
@@timcat1004 But you can't go over 150v, right? Those panels are 46.68 V VOC x 4 = 186.72 which is over voltage, and I heard that the Delta Pro would not charge at all? I'm trying to figure out for myself, as I just bought two Delta Pros and two extra batteries. Thanks
Actually, the website that I went to said 46.68 V, but yours is even higher at 49.65 and that is 198.6
@@jglayden Dude...they are 2 in series and those 2 are in parallel for a total voltage of 100 VDC. You need to relax man.
@@timcat1004 okay, yeah just trying to decide how to do it. Thanks and great video!
6kWh is 50% more than I consume in a day. I wish...
That's more than what we consume per person here. We are three adults in this house. In the spring summer and fall we use on average 10 kWh a day. In the winter that jumps to >20 kWh a day. Most of that is directly off of the grid tied solar though. Around 2.8 MWh per year.
@@timcat1004 I average about half that. 1.4 - 1.5 MWh
@@sarkybugger5009 The minus 40 C here does have an effect...
@@timcat1004 It's not that often we see minus anything. It's the damp that chills you to the bone. I have Scandinavian friends who all say it feels colder here than at home. Also, I have gas fired central heating, not electric, thank fuck.
That noise would drive me (more) bonkers. 🤫
The sound of money
Yup those wires get hot. Recall some of the returning GI's from Occupied Japan bought cookie cutter houses with aluminum siding & wiring, proved to be dangerous. Glad there are better standards today. Don't miss the snow do you?

1:33 Aren't you concerned with suffocating your heat pump with it being so close to the wall and having panels covering the top?
Not at all. It will get shade all summer while in cooling mode and some Sun while in heating mode. It was planned that way.
more solar panels excellent
Where did you get the heat pump? I was searching for dealers for the Recreate brand.
I got it from Facebook Market place. From Red Deer Alberta. He's got four more systems with panels. Want his info?
@@timcat1004 That would be great or a link to the FB market place ad.
Diodes normally blow short circuit. Ask Troy about his garden fan / wind turbine. 🤣
Really hard to tell witch one it was though. The factory ones have three legs plus a common. None read as shorted. But two read a plus bias from the tab too all three legs and one reads a short to the tab from the center pin. So did two blow and short or did the one open. Replacing them all fixed the issue. I was impressed at how many watts I pulled in after replacing and temp wiring it all back up. Having 4 tabs means the cells themselves are three strings in series. By the time you chissel out the silicone and isolate the cells witch are diodes too, you are f'ckd. So I just changed em all with the old fashioned round diodes. This is the first time I had one blow out of the 41 panels I own. I bought a 30 pack...so there is that. And they were cheap from Amazon.
@@timcat1004 I had a _full bridge rectifier_ blow in my meat mincer, and the difference in price between buying 1 or buying 10 was pennies. I bought 10, and still have 9...

Omg thank you ! Found the tool kit!! So cool, saved me a trip to the store
Not a shear pin by the bearing, that is the bolt that attaches the auger to the side bearing shaft.
It's a shear pin incase the bearing fails.
@@timcat1004 you would need to look at that particular bolt that was installed during manufacturing. If it’s a Grade 2 steel then it will shear, if it’s a Grade 4 or 5 then the Auger shear bolt is the only shear protection from having the gear box melt. In my unit it is a bolt, but many are different of course.
I have the ecoflow delta pro and the extra battery with 4 370 watt silfab solar panels. It charges up fast after the sun comes in to the right angle but it will not last all night with only my security camera system and the monitor. together they draw 145 watts but before the sun starts generating enough the batteries on both units are at 0,0 percent Very disappointing. I have 5 ecoflow products and not one of them come near lasting as long as they claim. I would tell my friends to avoid ecoflow.
My guess is that 20-25% is lost just having the inverter on. I'm okay with that.
What you need is one of those garden fans, like that guy in Michigan used to have. It would save having to store all that FREE electrickery, and generate a cooling breeze for outside on the deck.
Looks like some good programming you are about to watch. Must be pretty quiet on Troybusters with the Lewiston Loser being MIA so much of the time. Love the Ecoflow setup.
4 330W off-grid solar panels seem to be providing plenty of indoor entertainment, thank goodness the days of candle power & coal stoves are icons of history, definitely no ROI on wax & coal dust. Stay well.
My ladders are all fiber glass. No point in smelting them.
That's a nice setup. I like the way you can adjust your panels. I used some of that black wire loom from Auto Zone on my boat trailer wiring and it didn't last but a year or so. It is not made to be in direct sun, or at least what i used wasn't.
Dang, I was just badmouthing Husqvarna and here they have their own tool box included. Only the second brand I've seen do that. Many have shear pin storage, but not a whole tool box.
Prefer normal seasonal weather but one must accept the last train to Clarksville long ago left the station with Mother Nature in a casket. Adaptation to the changes in the environment have left after the fires, floods & chemical amendments to the soil many toxic fields to till for the farmers.
It is what it is.
Somewhere in the north of Scotland reached 19 degrees a few days ago. Hottest January day on record. It's about the same in the summer, if you're lucky.
What is the typical temps there? Normally we have double minus digits here. I'm pretty sure we broke a record today. There isn't even any frost in the ground. You saw that video I uploaded on the 15th called baby steps? We were 68C warmer than two weeks ago.
@@timcat1004 January average high 7, Low 1. Average high in July is 19C. Lucky guess, but I've been to Scotland quite a few times, and it's never what I would class as hot. (30+) Edit: Those temps are for Inverness, the northernmost large town. (It's not very large.) My Nan used to have friends in Strathpeffer, not far from there, and we visited a couple of times when I was a kid. Her friend married a German POW. Lovely scenery in the highlands.
