Hey guys I’ve been dealing with an overheating issue on my 2012 JKU Rubicon. I replaced the thermostat twice with aftermarket units, because Mopar units had been on back order for a year, and it would still run too hot climbing a hill or when accelerating. What I found is, the aftermarket units are not only junk but are assembled with the spring upside down! I noticed the new one in this video has the spring upside down also! Another thing with most aftermarket units is the struts the spring retainer is mounted on are too short! This reduces the amount the thermostat can open! I have however found an aftermarket on Amazon that is not junk, has the taller struts like the OEM, and is made with an aluminum housing! It’s sold under the name MILIPARTS. I hope this helps. Jimmy

Hopefully Mechman was able to tell you why your charging light was still on, but if not I’ll go ahead and let you know. When you put in a fuse tap of that kind, be aware that it has now two slots to put a fuse into. You must add a fuse to both locations. The lower location is to power the circuit you removed the fuse from initially, and the upper location is to power the circuit you’re adding.

Hi, nice helpful, and detailed video. My situation is, first it wasn't getting gas so I tested the vacuum petcock and witched it out for new Yamaha gravity flow one. It ran but you had to choke it a lot and then it would put gas into the airbox. So I bought a new carb - put it on and it's doing the same thing. It was a new carb so one would think everything, main jet, and float would be set to spec when built. What are your ideas, any would be appreciated?.

Hmmm, 🤔 not sure just double check all your lines are right and maybe adjust your throttle cable and see if it helps at all? And have you changed the spark plugs recently, cheap thing to cross off the list of possible issues. I'm no pro but happy to help spitball ideas. Thanks

@@Blakess2 I don't work on them every day so not a real pro either but can usually get the job done. It was an error on my part. One time or other, could have been before I first took the carb off, but when checking things over close on the vacuum lines I found the tube from the right rear brake backing plate ran up and was hooked onto the over - flo vent at the very bottom of the float bowl. I had to trace it in disbelief as I said to myself...Did I effing do that? I think the very first time I took the original carb off I threw the short vent hose in a little parts box and it got misplace or thrown away with me thinking I'd put a new one on. When I got to putting hoses and lines back on after I cleaned the original carb and put it back together I must have grabbed the extra-long brake shoe vent line that was up close near the carb with plenty of length and pushed it on the bottom bowl vent. After correcting and re-tightening things she fired right up idled good and purred like a wild - cat and didn't bog when given the gas. Sorry so windy here but this just shows the importance of checking your work over real good because it may be something as simple as a hose is hooked up wrong. I'm actually saving the original carb because it may be just fine. The aftermarket carb was not very expensive at all. Thanks for taking the time to make a video and posting...very helpful.

Great video. I just got these for Christmas and couldn't wait to put them in for my next trip to the mountain. I have the same helmet so this showed me all the tricks!

Perfect glad I could help they work awesome and last 3-4 or more trips up on the mountain on a single charge!! And yeah the k2 helmet is a perfect candidate to swap these in for!! Thanks!

That opening tunnel is the exact place my fully built 13:1 B20/ITR engine blew up years ago. Sad reminder of good times.
