I have just finished reading Landlines and like Raynor on her what she felt was last journey I didn’t want it to end. How she draws life and breath to her thoughts and puts into words was exhilarating, what a journey, what courage and what an understanding of life itself, I walked the trail with her and Moth and loved every minute though I am emotionally exhausted. Thank you Raynor, I believe you have given me a lift in life, I hope to write a book about my son who died of Cancer but his story is special very much like your story one of grit determination giving hope and belief to all around, I just hope I can do it justice, if I can get any where near to the excellence of her writing I will be so pleased. Read the book Landlines it will change your life forever, I now need to squire the salt path to gain more inspiration it seems.

The protein flour George mentioned will be very helpful, but meat eaters will not be satisfied with it. Clean, cultured meat produced with lab technology, along with dairy alternatives from precision fermentation at a similar cost to what they replace might just do the trick. These three plus plant based animal product alternatives all will help to end animal agriculture as we know it.

With or without this guy, the fate of HK was sealed once returned to China. It's just sad how things have turned out, especially for the young generation (including me). We didn't ask to be born in such a cursed tiny city, with nowhere to go.

Agree 100% that the core problem is money in politics. So our first step has to be to outlaw vested interests from financing the election campaigns of politicians, making them rich while in office (insider trading??) and giving them sweet jobs when they leave office. Politics must be financed from the exchequer. Anything else is false economy.

This protein flour combined with a 'victory garden' and a soon to be decreasing global population may just possibly save us from our sorry selves.

The book is LOVELY and has been given me peace during my own tumultuous time...not as sharply desperate of a health crisis and homeless...but my husband and I have been quite near that position of - our financial income is gone due to layoffs, now what and where. But, Raynor, I am not as brave to let go completely...you and Moth were SO BRAVE to just go. I wish I could purchase the rights to the book or be in collaboration with you on a film about this visceral experience the two of you were transformed by (caterpillar to butterfly). BTW...totally see Kate Winslet playing you...Rhys Ifans playing Moth. You both are lovely! Sending thanks for the book!
