    • @hockey4life418
      @hockey4life418 2 месяца назад

      Probably not for the 3 at the back as I tend to not start with this and simply promote either a CB or a WB if we're not under a high press. Other than that I'm not a fan. I do like the 2323 though so I'll do that at some point.

      @@hockey4life418 Excellent, I look forward to watching it. While I too am a fan of 4 at the back, my intrigue around 3 at the back systems comes from the fact the majority of international teams seem to set up this way. Would love to know more. Your videos on formations and positioning are the best I've found online (Including some of the subscription based coaching services). Really helping me get back into the sport after almost 15 years away!

  • @bavobruylandt2378
    @bavobruylandt2378 6 месяцев назад

    I can see the triangles form when you shift the lines on attack, so thats good! At first it looked way to linear to me However, this formation makes the presses quite hard to learn, not easier, due to the positions being all dynamic for that. There is no natural structure to do that press out of the 2-2-2

      Thanks for the video. Really interesting to see how there are different ways to utilise that back four transfer. Senior players might get the idea of the press better also having the mindset of letting opponents play wide and then compress/ collapse the middle.

    • @hockey4life418

      Take the ball early so the other team can't press. Or chuck an aerial over the press. Or if your CDM are confident players and can move the ball quickly that can also break it.

    Really good videos and drills - best on youtube thank you! One question please - I'm coach for a very small men's club I have only 18-20 players and a goalie at training but the problem is such a range of skills. I have 7-8 really strong players and tbh the rest would be more like your 5th team players or up coming juniors.. If I set rondo up with mix of ability it just falls apart because of a weak link in skill levels the better players want/need intensity - should I put the weaker players all together only, but then they will not progress. (the weaker old players I've got are probably not goign to really improve but the young weaker players need something more. One other thing be really good if you did a few good shooting drills where there is not too much standing around waiting to take shot, many thanks!! Great vids!

    • @hockey4life418
      @hockey4life418 9 месяцев назад

      Is it just you or do you have someone else coaching. I think it's fine to split them up as long as at times you include them all together (in the same session). The rondos will make them progress due to the number of touches on the ball and when they make bad decisions just ask them if they had the same opportunity again,what would they differently and they grow rapidly

      442 for me is more of a football formation but yes the 1333 is a great system which has the sweeper. Pretty much the same as 4333 but you split the CB

    • @TangibleLife
      @TangibleLife Год назад

      @@hockey4life418 Yes, 1-3-3-3 is probably what I meant! The (1+3) is kind of 4 at the back on push back but then on sweeper obviously has more freedom than CB. Maybe you could do something on playing with a sweeper - pros/cons. Thank you.

    • @hockey4life418
      @hockey4life418 Год назад

      @@TangibleLife Sorry for taking so long to reply. I would set out offensively the same as I described in the video but for transferring I prefer the 2 centre back options. However, promoting one into the midfield if the opposition are strong there is an option but the mindset of outletting remains the same. For a press though, and the sweeper being a front sweeper check out Field Hockey Education channel and look at latest video on 3/4 press. I really like it and will be moving away from zonal as too easy to go wrong.

    • @hockey4life418
      @hockey4life418 2 года назад

      Hi Muthu, if they have that in their locker then yes but the idea is only to press half the pitch so would have to be a huge overhead. The press is intense and their player would have very little time to execute. If they have a flicker capable of that they will probably rely on that and I would switch to a 3/4 or half press.

      I know but for some stupid reason at school hockey (when playing 7s) they do this but in reality it's a little further than than the 23. I shouldn't have used that pitch layout in the video. Thanks for bringing it to my attention and I'll redo.
