His ideas of COMMENSURABILITY is fallacious. This guy is not an authority in the Qur'an and hadiths. Very ignorant of WAHY. He needs to PROVE commensurability based on WAHY. not based on HIS opinions or ibn 'Arabi "illumination". He blames democratization of knowledge and modernism in order to justify his wrongs. This is the fallacy of two wrongs make a right. Guys, look at his knowledge of the Qur'an and sound hadiths. He rarely quotes the Qur'an, let alone hadiths. If he debates with Saeed Foudeh, surely he shall be devastated easily.

He has a lot in deep information but very poor in presentation. He SERIOUSLY needs to LEARN how to articulate and maintain focus.

Just a small reminder that Platonism, Aristotelianism, and Neoplatonism are all polytheistic at the core. In Platonism, the One is not an Individual, it is the principle that states that each thing that exists must be one. That is to say, each thing must be a unit or unity of parts, with an analysis of the parts eventually reducing down to the barest units. This definition does not make the One a deity, it makes it the principle by which we grasp individuation as such. This principle is not causal as is pointed out numerous times in the Platonic and Neoplatonic texts except in the way that unity is the supreme good for each thing that exists. As the One is not causal, it does not determine the number of Gods, or units. So there is no way to limit Platonism or Neoplatonism down in such a way as to apply them to monotheism.

Islam is not the system of deep philosophical thinking. Analytic philosophy is absolutely incompatible with Islam. Islam is full of concepts like for example: "If your heart desires to do a certain act, and your master's order is against it, you should carry out that order. If something seems good to you, but if your master says it is bad, you must accept it as bad. And if something else seems bad but your master says it is good, then you must accept it as good. If you think a certain action will be harmful, but your master says it must be done, then done it must indeed be, even though it may entail you in loss of life or property. Similarly, if you expect to benefit from a certain action, but your master forbids it, you must refrain from it even though it might have brought all the worldly treasures. Indeed, the noblest among you in the sight of God is the most God fearing of you".- al-Hujurat 49:13

A beautiful podcast and insights/ilm. The Shaykhs are a treasure and so needed in these modern times. HOWEVER, I'm not really seeing why people feel the need to call Shaykh Hamza out. Shaykh Hamza spoke publicly on Gaza four times at least since 10/7 * His Zaytuna talk soon after 10/7 * His public discussion with Chris Hedges on the history and current Palestinian situation a few weeks ago (when reviewing Khalidi's Palestinian book) * His signed Zaytuna letter soon thereafter * His RIS talk (and not including his numerous talks over the years weren't speaking out on the Palestinian cause). I guess some people want some quota of how many times equals enough to prove someone supports and speaks out. Does it have to be weekly, daily?

Why do people insist on throwing terms from other languages into a discussion thats taking place in another language. Its not helpful

Is it not plausible that Ibn Arabi came across the works of Plato/Plotinus and re-imagined those ideas into something of his own making upon contemplation (of the Quran and select hadith) and his worldly and "other-worldly" experiences? If yes, one can say those works were a potential catalyst in his thought process or helped him in his expression of his own ideas (if they were not the initial catalyst) and thus may have been "influenced" to a certain degree. That degree of influence was obviously not 100% as if it was, he would be a Neoplatonist. Let's assume he was "influenced" by the works of Plato/Plotinus. Why is this a problem given it's plausible for people anywhere in the world or universe a Nabi did not reach (if you think Plato/Plotinus are not coming from a Nabi "tradition") in a given space/time to come to similar ideas through there own rational processes and worldly/"other-worldly" experiences/observations - vis-a-vis the Ibrahim A.S. process (Ibn Tufayl)?
