I've always loved the magical whimsy of this episode!

I really enjoy season 7 over all, and also love Matt Smith as the doctor! There was just something about him that also made me emotional.

This is the first time I've seen a reactor actually correlate the fact that the creature is called a "shadow" by the driver - and that's what it does. It shadows the people it encounters, copies them... chills. Excellent observation. "He's about to get humbled." Very perceptive. The Doctor NEEDS his human companions to keep him in touch with the humans around him. Without her at his side, his arrogance and curiosity and all the things that are usually to his advantage become dangerous to him. The creature didn't move into the Doctor. It started controlling him, forcing him to repeat. He's shaking and struggling SO HARD to regain control of his own body. It went from copying, to synchronizing, to controlling - forcing him to repeat her so that the group would think he was the monster. The sad thing is - none of these people are crazy. They're just human and flawed and reacting out of panic. That hug between Donna and the Doctor - he needed it so bad. He's clearly traumatized. His response to her repeating him is because of what he just went through, the repetition is triggering to him. Love your reaction here, very well done!

The 8th doctor stories are mostly big finish audio dramas n the tv movie n this should check his big finish stories out.

I'll be honest I swore a lot at your questioning whether the Orient Express was real. But I took a step back. It's good for me to remember that not everybody's cultural and literary experiences are the same as mine. It was a great reaction, though. And this and Flatline are two of my favourite Capaldi episodes. They just shimmer.

At the end of 5x13 “The Big Bang,” the 11th Doctor gets a call from Gus in the TARDIS, mentioning “a mummy on the orient express.” 📞 🚂 🧟‍♂️ The 12th Doctor references it in this episode… that Gus has reached out to him before.

The Doctor Who phenomenon was real. As a 5 year old it was fascinating and immediately the Daleks came in it was the must see program, even if you were terrified (black and white is still creepy) and your parents tried to switch it off! Having said that the next Doctor, Patrick Troughton, was my favourite classic Doctor. More energetic, more friendly and far funnier.

Editing was impossible and very expensive in those days the BBC couldnt afford re-takes like most british shows of the time the show had to be filmed like it was live like a shakespeare play on screen if actors made a mistake usually other actors would cover for them and there were strict time limits everything had to be filmed in a rush.

Throughout the 1960's during the First Doctor (William Hartnell) and the Second Doctor (Patrick Troughton's) era you are correct the show was aimed for children it was originally a children's show without giving too much spoilers the show didn't become a fully family show until the Third Doctor (Jon Pertwee) era. John Wiles who replaced Verity Lambert as the producer was an incompetent producer and didn't really want the job so him and William Hartnell did not get on well at all due to the constant changing of companions throughout the third season because he didn't know what to do with those characters which frustrated Hartnell and furthermore was going through a difficult time in his life by that point as he had to work a whole year without having time off and couldn't attend his auntie's funeral who looked after him during his troubled childhood and was constantly forgetting his lines and became somewhat difficult to work with, so when Innes Lloyd took over from Wiles as the new producer it was he who asked Hartnell to leave the show not Sydney Newman who had already gone on to do other things at that point. When the "regeneration" was created although the process wasn't named then and because it was the first regeneration it was quite a risky bold move because they were worried whether audiences would except it or the new Doctor and had to workout how to keep the show going without Hartnell because it could had easily ended with Hartnell so the "regeneration" was born and it became a success and people immediately accepted the new Doctor and just kept going as normal because in those days there was no such thing as "the big goodbye" or "the emotion" there was no farewell party for Hartnell they just left and got on with the show.

Definitely an episode that people have issues with. Its a very important part of the Doctor/ Clara story but its often overlooked. People felt that it was out of character for 12 but I feel like this is perfectly in line with his actions. He felt like testing Clara but didn't think to consider it wasn't the time. He's so focused on her that it blinds him from making the right decision. 12/Clara is a pair that never quite seems to click for some people on first watch. The last scene with Clara and 12 in the Tardis is fantastic, what other companion would call him out like that(maybe Donna). She made sure to tell him that staying with him was a decision she made and a decision she can un make. She made sure to remind him that he's lonely and that she has the power to send him right back to that emptiness. Her choices define the episode. My issue with the episode is the lame opening few minutes and the kid adding almost nothing to the plot, they could cut this episode in half and it would be the same.

For the 60th anniversary of doctor who they went and updated the ending, so now instead of seeing Matt smith( 11th), you will see ncuti gatwa (15th) Lets hope they continue this again for future doctor anniversarys by adding the current doctor at the time.

I adore this episode from just a fun comedy drama perspective. I love the Doctor in it, he’s soooo funny and snappy 🤣

There were definitely calls to the tardis in the Matt Smith era, most notably in The Bells of St John.

The particula school has featured several times going back all theway to episode 1 in1963. The Doctors granddaughter was a visiting pupil and two teachers were the first ever companions.

That’s what The Moment does. It kills everything indiscriminately. Takes out the entire planet. There is no way to spare Time Lords without sparing Daleks.
