Modifying Dr Quack auto-wah for more control/sustain
Original circuit is great, but with my setup I couldn't hear anything when the envelope wasn't fully activated. Modified for more sustain and tone.

Something got messed up with the toggle, so excuse the glitches as I move between states. uses two input buffers with a knob between them to control the color. also has a fuzzy setting #diypedals #electronic

Excellent overdrive. Mean af
Sounds wild! 😂 Love it!
Pretty cool. Did you mean VCA in the description?
I made a vactrol by heat-shrinking an LED to an LDR, which works as a voltage controlled resistor of sorts. This is what fluctuates the resistance between threshold and vcc of the 555 circuit.
@@Jfetlife ah nice, it’s like a super fast tremolo. You should try feeding it into different logic chips, divide it down to get an octave effect. Good stuff.
@@bux77kinda, most modulations work the same way. Using one source to control the parameters of another. The vactrol isn't directly in the path between amp and output here. This is using the guitar signal to vary the resistance between threshold and vcc to change the reference voltage for the oscillator, which changes the frequency. There is some on/off as the resistance goes out of bounds of what's needed for the oscillation though, which does result in more of a super fast tremolo effect. Depends on pot values. Octave pedal is on my list of things to learn, so I'll definitely be messing with that!
very interesting sound. I dig it.
Could add a switch to the volume to select extra resistance for when it's preamp.
Good idea! I do like being able to just plug my headphones in and go
Looks good and the sound has character. Good job!
Thanks! I appreciate it. Pretty stoked about the direction it's going so far
Thats sick as hell keep rocking on
Some step by step builds would helpful. Thanks for showing your work!
Thanks for watching! I plan on doing that some time in the future. Been a bit busy, but I'm coming back to this some time this week
This is soo cool !!!

Do a infrared version.
I tried this with infrared but, since I only have diodes built for emitting, they don't receive very well. These UV diodes seem to work pretty well in either direction. I am going to try again when I get IR receivers because I'm sure staring at all this UV isn't great
@@Jfetlife add more diode on the receiving end?
