      I love that! Thank you for posting. Yes, SO many things possible in today's world no matter where you live. And once you clear out your local thrift every 2-3 days, maybe make one extended drive to a slightly-larger venue weekly to multiply your sourcing even more. But as someone who lived in the middle of nowhere from 2000 to about 2017, even we had yard sales all around us in the summer that could have supplied a year's worth of great reselling items had we not had several consignment clients who were keeping us listing. (Which is an extra tip, be sure to tell everybody you know in your town that you resell, especially the elderly who almost always want to downsize some and they usually have nice things. They appreciate the extra money and you get great items to list.) ~Greg

    how about tips on selling my fluid art I made myself?

    • @UltraAdvancedOnBay
      @UltraAdvancedOnBay 5 дней назад

      Shannon, I did a QUICK look at the past 3 years on Terapeak (now called eBay Product Research), and I sure didn't find a lot of sales for fluid art. I very well could have not used proper keywords as I know nothing about fluid art. My GUESS is it does not sell well on eBay. eBay is keyword driven, which means anything that has a brand, well-known artist, sports figure, team name, book/music/movie titles, things like that sell easily. The search engine rightly gives these keywords top importance in search results because most people are looking for these most of the time. Not having a name brand of any kind makes everything more difficult to be ranked high in eBay's search engine. The exceptions are lead crystal items and Depression Glass that often have no brand, but even those sell far less well than branded similar items. Bottom line - I'm ignorant of liquid art. But my knowledge of eBay makes me GUESS that a relatively unknown artist's work in fluid art would be a challenge to sell there. It SEEMS to be more of an Etsy sort of product. I wish I had better news! ~Greg

    Twice in the last year have had 2 different buyers claim never receiving their package, even though tracking showed delivered. Both times ended up being scammers and eBay closed the cases after little investigation on my part and sending what I found to eBay. The worse of the 2 was a buyer opening a case without contacting me, claiming not receiving the item on the same day it showed delivered. The tracking showed “delivered to local courier,” which was the address the item was to be delivered too per the buyers eBay account. I sent the tracking # to them and said it showed delivered to the address he had on his account, they responded they didn’t get it from the courier. I was suspicious and checked the buyer feedback and saw that 2 prior sellers left a comment saying buyer claimed package wasn’t delivered even though tracking showed it was. I then googled mapped the address to find it was a unit in a industrial park and it was a local courier service, but every single of the 100 or so reviews of the business were from online sellers mostly from eBay saying they where running a scam claiming undelivered packages even though tracking showed delivered, I screen shot all info and sent to eBay and within days they closed the case in my favor.

    I've only done like 8 auctions out of about 600 sales, and half or more didnt pay. Really dumb that ebay doesnt force them to pay a nonpay fee at a minimum. Even if it was only 4.99, it would stop the stupid, now-pointless auctions. I understand ppl dont always have the money the day your scheduled auction ends, but they absolutely should have to pay a fee for locking up your 7 day auction, plus an additional 5 or 6 days of them not responding. Then having to relist another 7 days again. It would get rid of the terrible buyers that can go and bid on 10 auctions of the same item, and just avoid the 9 highest wins.

      @@UltraAdvancedOnBay I was using it as an example of what many Ebay sellers do. Some of your offers are from other sellers trying to find your bottom line. This is what retailers like Walmart and Target do to their competition off of Ebay, but instead they send secret shoppers into the actual competitions stores. There's no objective morals when it come to making a living. We are resellers, but we are not business partners. If you don't like my comment you can block me just like sellers can block buyers who send lowball offers. The block feature is there for a reason. If you block people on RUclips then why wouldn't it be smart to block people on Ebay? Both are revenue producers.

    USPS does not directly fly packages on planes. Time sensitive packages such as Priority Mail and faster services are delivered to their main contractor FedEx. FedEx then hands the packages back to USPS for final delivery. You had better care about what date they ship the items because it will miss the estimated delivery time eBay is showing the customer, who may not be too pleased. Have used 3 day shipment period for 25 years. Most items go out the next day, but that really depends upon what time they order. Local post office is open till noon, but its best to have packages there by 11:30pm as the private contractor picking up packages at various post offices generally arrives at that time. Post office is 3 small city blocks away. If I have a car load of packages I can ring the rear doorbell for contractors and unload them on a large antique railroad card the office still has in the back. Worse case scenario is that they order it on Saturday and Monday is federal holiday so it gets shipped Tuesday. Not making a special trip into a another local town unless I am already scheduled to make other errands. In those 25 years not a single customer has asked for and opted for a faster shipping service.

    • @UltraAdvancedOnBay
      @UltraAdvancedOnBay 14 дней назад

      Understood and I truly appreciate your comments! The point of the video is "Handling Time" that eBay makes one of the Number One priorities of all sellers. Not delivery time or postal shipment time. Those are both issues important to discuss, but not at all a point of this video or most of the teaching in this group and on this channel. If a seller misses his or her stated handling time very often, eBay will not only remove Top-Rated Seller status IF they had that, but eventually move that seller down the Below Standard seller level where their search engine placement degrades considerably AND eBay imposes a financial penalty on all sales of that seller until he can go an extended time without missing the stated handling time. Since eBay makes a seller's promised handling time SO critical, therefore, anyone who wants to have great sales must also make their handling time one of the most critical pieces of their business. This means GETTING YOUR PACKAGES TO THE POST OFFICE ON TIME WITH TRACKING PROOF OF POSTAL ACCEPTANCE each and every time. Your three-day handling time is great for your business, works for you for 25 years, super! For most sellers who want to maximize their sales and minimize their selling fees, they must honor a 1-day or same-day handling time. This is the only way to eventually get Ultra-Advanced eBay sales. Plus, the 10% discount on seller fees is an instant profit AND the higher search engine rank that eBay affords Top-Rated Sellers adds to our sales. This means that for most sellers, if they want to maximize their income they not only promise a 1-day or same-day handling time AND THEY DO NOT MISS THIS EVER. This video here describes the last point of no return that many sellers should know about in their areas that, if you miss getting your packages to the post office on your stated handling time deadline, there is ONE MORE POSSIBLE POSTAL LOCATION to get your packages accepted on time before your metrics are harmed with a late handling time mark. AND if you sell a lot of packages daily, that handling time metric MULTIPLIES by the number of packages you miss getting mailed on your promised date. So, fortunately, eBay is far less concerned how fast the post office gets them out than eBay is concerned that their sellers do what we promise. That is, not missing our promised handling time. Finally, good news!!! It turns out that Same Day and 1-Day Handling times are not NEARLY as bad as many sellers assume they are in spite of all I said above. LITERALLY a same-day handling time sometimes has UP TO 4 DAYS TO GET A PACKAGE TO THE POST OFFICE as I show here: ruclips.net/video/Ti3Izxl3INM/видео.htmlsi=4I8gVgoCo1pjT60h

    Another informative video thanks. I have a few folder of older UK coins. My local auction house recently did a youtube tutorial pointing out that buying coins pre-certain dates means that these coins had a %age of silver content and thus have value even simply for the silver scrap value. 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

    • @UltraAdvancedOnBay
      @UltraAdvancedOnBay 16 дней назад

      Absolutely Ian. Here in the states, if a silver-colored coin is 1964 or earlier, it has enough silver content to take to a gold and silver shop (or shoppe in the UK) ( :) ) and sell it for the silver content, although of course it won't be worth a trip for just a single coin. But find out what the year is there for UK coins and and silver-colored coin you get on or before that cut-off year, put aside if it has no collectible value as a coin. The silver value will make it worth keeping to sell to a shop when you get enough. I considered talking about this, but the video was already getting long so I kept it at common collectible coins only. I would hope there is a similar website in the UK for your common old coins. Doing comps on eBay for each and every coin you have to sell can get extremely tedious. A coin site such as the one I showed makes it far faster to determine collectible value for coins.

And in the spirit of Streisand's "people who need people", I have 2 and a half questions for you I would appreciate your opinions on. 1: It is my understanding that BLOCK CAPITALS in item titles are frowned on by ebay, - however, do you see any benefits to putting a capital letter at the beginning of every word, or only some words? for instance examples title A: Star Wars Vintage Toy Bundle .. or B: Star Wars vintage toy bundle also Question 2: From your previous videos you enthusiastically encourage people to use white backgrounds in photos - specifically citing that Google prefers white backgrounds when indexing items with links to ebay. I get that, and appreciate this is good practice. However; - as a customer, when I am browsing ebay, i am often drawn to listings where there isnt a white background. With many items, i find a white background a little stark. Its just my preference, but i tend to be drawn to items where the item is perhaps placed on a light beige, wooden oak effect display table. This is similar to how many etsy shops display / photograph items - with a classy display, sometimes with a small flower arrangement in the background etc. Im talking very light tones, with wooden effect floor tile etc. Its just my 2cents, but with books etc, or a small framed print etc, i am often more attracted to such colour scheme set-ups as opposed to all white, and will often buy books/sports cards etc that are displayed this way. So my longwinded question to you is,.... forasmuch as white is standard and will get indexed more readily by Google... as a seller, could this be offset by the extra sales such an alternative classy photo setup could generate using these other colour schemes? Thank in advance for your reply. Ian 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

      Hello Ian, Glad to see you again here. As to capital letters at the start of each eBay title word, not only do *I* suggest it, but EBAY WANTS US TO TO IT. (Although UNLIKE what I just did, eBay doesn't want all caps.) And to the white background, I understand and I often like the look of some sort of background in good taste that compliments the item. BUT your and my preferences aren't what determine these things. What determines them is what marketing and consumer behavior studies show and that is that white backgrounds get more clicks than any other. This is why eBay STILL prefers them, still makes the white BG tool available, and that Google Shopping still gives white BGs preferential treatment. The white BGs do NOT results in extra purchases by themselves, but they do without question get more click throughs so the listing themselves can then work to sell the item or not. In spite of the hassle, in spite of my preference for non-white, I will continue to go to the trouble to white BG every "hero picture" (eBay's term for the first picture in every eBay listing) because eBay wants it and also my marketing background confirms the reason eBay wants us to do it. Have a great rest of your week and weekend! ~Greg

      I'm so sorry you are having this problem Scott. I just did a combined order yesterday, but certainly eBay has glitches. Keep in mind though that you first must select BOTH orders you want to combine. You will not yet see a Combine option. You must then, with both orders selected, click the Shipping button at the top-right of your orders (on a computers, I'm unsure if this is available on a phone app). That click of the Shipping button dops down options and you want to select Get Shipping Label with two orders still selected below. The Bulk Label shipping screen will then open. You will see the Combine button there. Select both orders again by clicking next to each, the Combine button will go active above, and you can click it to calculate and print a combined label after you adjust the box dimensions and weight. ~Greg

    after 23 years on ebay ive stopped selling clothes now, not worth it now ebay has removed fees, its flooded with 99p no profit clothing and sales have dropped to practically nothing, total waste of time, ebay is flooded with clothes that no one even looks at anymore, no views.

      I am a member of a closed paid group with about 2,000 members making money all from used clothing. No doubt though, it is much harder than ever. But that also can create opportunity since most sellers won't go the extra mile to find special sourcing deals on higher priced items. I don't want to see you give up.

    Do you put "approximately" in item specifics, or just the description?

    • @UltraAdvancedOnBay
      @UltraAdvancedOnBay 25 дней назад

      Good question, in the Description. RARELY I will qualify the Item Specific measurements. (Here's an example: I'm selling a WagnerWare dutch oven pot. It has fixed handles on each side. In that Item Specific for Width I might put: "14 in (handle-to-handle), 12.5 in (inner-edge-to-edge)" I don't like to pollute Item Specifics too much. They need to be easy and quick to read and access because buyers click fast on those. But yes, even when I use exact measurements in the Item Specifics, I will often repeat them in the Description if there's any possible chance they will matter with the "approximate" wording where I repeat the measurements. ~G

    • @UltraAdvancedOnBay
      @UltraAdvancedOnBay 25 дней назад

      Correct, John. It is such a shame. It's difficult to discuss International issues on any channel due to the great differences between jurisdictions that enable or disable companies such as eBay from being consistent. I do know that for years, eBay reps have hinted that Canada will be the first to adopt ALL the same International features that eBay/USA has, but after many years, nothing has come of it. In eBay's defense, countries are extremely fierce in protecting their postal monopoly and any free market idea that comes up is often shot down. It makes no sense, right, but there it is. I'm fairly certain that eBay is constantly trying to work with eBay/Canada and the Canadian postal system to bridge some sort of gap and help Canadian sellers TRY to transact business and support their families. Everyone hopes that happens sooner than later. Thanks so much for your comment. ~Greg

      I will look. Keep in mind, a full refund does NOT seem to be exactly what they are saying. I *think* eBay has made it clear that IF the buyer opens a return case, returns it, and you offer the full refund, then the negative feedback will be removed. Members of our Facebook group have experienced exactly that the past few months and mentioned it from time to time. If you have a neg and refunded it all BUT the buyer did not return it, I am unsure that will count. IT SHOULD COUNT, but I am unsure it will.

    nice video thx. ... you mention that train enthusiasts are getting older and thus dying out, which is sad - here in the UK the same thing seems to be the case with stamp collectors - ie less demand for stamp collections as the collectors get older and die off. Rather sad tbh 🙁

    • @UltraAdvancedOnBay
      @UltraAdvancedOnBay Месяц назад

      Ian, YES, the very same thing is happening to stamp collectors. I am thrilled you mentioned that. (Well, I am saddened by it, but I'm thrilled you mentioned it for others to learn from.) I actually find that stamp values are falling tremendously quickly, noticeably faster than coins or trains. From an economic supply standpoint, that makes NO sense because the old out-of-print stamps aren't getting MORE plentiful, quite the opposite. Obviously, the reason is the demand is dying out quickly. I was in my local gold and silver shop the other day selling jewelry items for their gold and silver content as that is often easier and sometimes as profitable as selling the pieces as collectibles on eBay. I have a ton of stamps from a stamp collection one of my neighbors... 85 years old! ... asked me to sell for him on eBay. I'm finding it just not worth my time to mess with. I asked the shop which has a large assortment of vintage rare coins for sale if they bought stamp collections, and he sadly shook his head and said, "In my lifetime I have seen the bottom fall out of the stamp collecting market because so few people these days have any interest in it." So sad. One learns a lot of history and geography when one learns more about old stamps.

    • @ianian2502
      @ianian2502 Месяц назад

      @@UltraAdvancedOnBay Absolutely! As a child/adolescent/teenager... i prided myself on my knowledge of history and geography. So much of it was through collecting stamps. Magyar Posta was Hungary...Ceylon would become Sri Lanka... and faces that adorned stamps... such as Franco , Spain... the Shah of Iran... etc... gave me a sort of fundamental picture of modern history. And so i share your pain that there is not just a reduced interest/monetary value in such collections these days... but a diminishing appreciation for stamp collecting, which has an intrinsic value to our history, and still holds such fond memories to my childhood/youth.
