The hood needed some rust hole and dent repairs. A little body filler, primer and lots of sanding this time around. The body line ridges wore and rusted as well as the edges. Touch-up paint was uses to hide it, poorly. I have one side feathered out. Next, I will need to use a plane to cut the level lines back into the existing paint. Next up, body line sanding and final base coat prep. Part 3 w...

The 2K clear coat has fully cured so it's time to wet sand it level and polish it out to a high gloss. The buffer is from Harbor Freight. The pads are from Amazon. The compound and polish can be found at most auto stores. If you want links to any of the products I've used let me know in the comments.

The old 4" 1950's water well collapsed and is too small to re-drill with current well technology. A new well was needed so I recorded the well casing drilling and setting as well as the final rock drilling. Almost an hour of drill rig noise and breeze sound cut down from the original real-time video. The rig bored into an aquifer that is fed from the mountains over 200 miles away. Thanks to N.W...

Here's a quick review of the current state of the car and a sneak peek of the front fender painting. The painting is a really long process of paint, cure for a week, sand, repeat. I also fix small issues in the paint and panel surface during this process since there may not be enough depth to hide it from one coat. The driver side fender has a door crease that will never come out. :( It is what...

Hello, your videos are great. I have a Double Diamond Deluxe that I am restoring and it gives me awards very often and it is not fun, I would like to know if the configuration can be modified to make it more difficult.
Yes, the S2000 requires a key chip and a programming chip in order to modify the settings using the console buttons. If you have a 2-line display the programming menus will be easier to navigate. Send Ron an email at msdollars03@aol.com for info on the chips. Check out the IGT S2000 forum at New Life Games for help on chip usage and settings menus. newlifegames.com/nlg/index.php?board=81.0

Jesus! Dont film ur fails if u want people to learn from u. U know better. Ive fought those fuckers on many things myself. When filming you make everything look like its not that bad.
I film for learning. I learned how much a piece of crap the N54 is and will never look for another german car.
you still have it! car looks great man. i just parted out my 1993 9k aero, 5 speed. let me know if you need parts. it is a TCS car too..
Always lookin for Trionic 5 ecus. Got a decent headliner you could ship? The weather has not been cooperative with hood paint work. Hope to have another video up soon.
Keepin' em out of the cabbage!I need to fix my peeling clear coat. Haven't been fierce enough yet to start.
I try but I do not have much space for projects. Sometimes it has to sit in the back yard for long periods of time. It is back in the garage now, along with a 1985 Honda VF700C project. These cars did not have a 2-stage paint job. No clear coat. Yours was repainted if it has one.
Неплохо. Вероятно будете зашкуривать лак на всём капоте. Сам недавно забрал полностью перевареный и покрашеный кузов из ремонта.
Yes, sand and more sand. Too much sand.. it will be shiny when finished though
Thank you very helpful. I have the same problem and at the same time the reservoir is overfilling at the same time ? How can that be two overfilling problems instantly at the same time? Maybe it is possible what do you think the machine should of shut off automatically when the reservoir was full. Thanks again
The reservoir has a float arm that pushes on a microswitch. That switch controls the inlet solenoid.
Thank you.Regards.
hı, Would it be a problem if we used black direct injection instead of red direct injection for Saab 9000? Would it affect the engine negatively?
Yes. Do.not run larger injectors without a retune. The Trionic 5 maps are set for the volume output on those specific injectors. It will not adjust automatically if you swap in red ones. Paul at The SAAB Clinic in UK can set you up with a tune for those. He can give you an idea of power and fuel usage gains from a eco or power tune with red injectors.

Good morning to my motto is having engine smoke
If it is an air cooled engine then smoke could either be blue (oil) or black (fuel). White smoke comes from coolant on water-cooled.
Can these be used on a 1990 9000? I believe the GS shifter cannot be installed on the early 9000 manuals.
No the kit I installed only fits 93-98 9000 models.

Thanks for the video....looks like a good tool
If you do DI intake cleaning service it will pay for itself quickly. I would probably do a liquid treatment with seafoam first to soften it up to speed up the removal.
I have a home run slot machine can you fix mine via Fb messenger or FaceTime? I’m pay you. Something just needs to be reset. Knuckle heads flipped a switch they weren’t supposed too
Sorry, can't help on that.
What type of locking differential do you recommend for this model?
I don't suggest a locking diff( or power launch) unless you do the sedan subframe swap. You will tear up the coupe subframe.
I'm in Argentina and I was thinking of adapting it to a Ford Sierra, which I was going to use for drag racing, so I didn't know the limitations of this differential and what installation recommendations.
I got a limited non-slip differential from a 2.0T YEAR 2014 donor. From what has been investigated, the casings are unique, only the core changes, but I wouldn't know what to bring from its origins and incorporate it since there is nothing here. Very kind in advance for the response.
@@marianocucu1895Quaife Engineering in UK makes a drop-in LSD that is heavy duty and has a lifetime track warranty. Might check with them on an application on the Ford diff.
@@Ryengoth The original differential of the Sierra is very weak The half axles don't hold up either, that's why I was looking for a variant The 8.8 irs would be ideal but very expensive to bring
Hello, how many inches is the differential? What power could it support?
The stock diff handled about 550 BHP on the last dyno test. We saw 504whp on a windyn before the DI setup dried up. 14psi on a 6266. I have no idea what the limit is on it. Check with Snoopy Panda.
How did it go? Did the piece work after installation?
100% OE refurb part, works great. Well worth the purchase from Detroit Axle. I never sent my old one in. I want to rebuild it after I finish the body work and interior.
effect worth?
For NA, yes just don't polish it to a mirror finish. Turbulence along the runner surface helps velocity of the main stream. Port matching is ideal depending on the flow you need. The main thing is to remove casting flash, large "zits" and any other runner surface defects like that from casting.
Mine 9000 CSi had not working back right door. The lock itself was broken and the previous owner even managed to destroy the manual latchet that could unlock the doors from inside (plastic pin holding it in space fell off). So I had to dismantle the doors while beeing closed. I was so happy when I had finally opened it. 😂
Had a similar problem on left rear during a door swap. The original door took a tree hit during a storm. Creased the top of the door beyond repair. While I was test fitting the donor door(with window up) the latch tang on the handle broke off. The pull rod was missing as well. After a bit of parts hunting I finally got the interior pull to work. Rigged a string through the front window until I could swap the handle out.
@@Ryengoth Sorry to hear that. Yeah that latch is very poorly fitted to the doors.
Oh it was messed up when I bought it. It needed a LOT of help when I bought it. It was a $250 project car that did not run.
@@Ryengoth Oh, I thought it. Didn’t know the full story, to be honest. Thank you for your work, right now I am trying to save mine and your videos are really helpful (especially the one with the engine head removal).
Hey Ryengoth, your channel is gold! You're the only one who posts 9000 videos on yiutube. I have a question - have you ever replaced a door handle/lock on these cars? My CSE 9000 had an unwelcome visit by an amateur car thief. I swapped the lock cylinder, but it doesn't lock when I turn the key. I suspect the metal rod with the little plastic joint - is it important to put it in a certain position?
I have swapped handles before. There is a short rod and clip that must be connected for the cylinder to move the lock lever on the latch. The pull rod also connects to it. Getting that short rod connected can be a pain. I will try to post a YT short showing the linkage setup on driver side.
@@Ryengoth That would be fantastic! I have a Haynes DIY manual, but I still don't get it right. I have so far only touched the rod with the white plastic joint - I find it weird that there is no "channel" or crease that fixes it in a certain position. It goes a long way downwards, to the door bottom. Thanks
Clarification - I have everything set, the door handle moves as it should, but I know of no other rod than the one I mentioned
Those are supposed to have a clip that snaps onto the rod. The split off over time.

Hey man im thinking about changing my transmission oil filter, and the rubber gasket, along with the 24 pan bolts, and drain plug. I bought 10 liters of automatic transmission fluid. The car has 105,000 miles and i dont believe its ever been changed. Is it recommended to change it since i plan on keeping it for the long run.
Yes. Every 100k. The timing chain as well if it is original. If it is an N54 I would suggest installing an aftermarket belt guard on the crank shaft seal. The oil filter housing is going to leak at some point. Avoid the death mine had from eating a belt.
@Ryengoth Thanks! Yes, I believe mine is a N54 its a 2008 535i automatic twin turbo. the timing chain has not been changed. I don't believe I'm the second owner. I ordered a drive belt kit from FCP euro so if I'm gonna replace that along with the water pump and thermostat, it would make sense to have the chain replaced, huh? I just wanna have this car up and running at peak performance and not worry about maintenance for at least another year haha. I got quoted 7k from the dealership and told them to tell me in paper form all that the car needs. They also quoted me for one tie rod but ordered a kit to replace all of them. I'm already about $1300 in parts alone with the chain and the guard around $1500. And final question I looked up the guard on FCP euro and this is what popped up
@@Ryengoth BMW Billet Crankshaft Seal Guard - Vargas Turbo Technologies VTT-CRANK-GUARD-1 I could just buy this kit and have it installed and be good to go?
@@brianprieto5532German cars get very expensive to keep after 100k miles. The computer coding is a nightmare, budget for at least 3 failed controllers and the time for someone to remote in if you buy the $600 aftermarket BMW/Mini INPA/INA laptop kit. The first one to go is the TPMS box hanging under the rear, exposed to road debris and water.
This is one of my most favourite channels, great projects and workmanship!
Thanks! I hope you learn something new and are not afraid to try it yourself.
@@Ryengoth I have practically watched every video on your Saab 9000 project with a thumbs up on every one. I have a 1996 Saab Aero in silver with manual transmission and it needs work, rust on the wings, rust underneath at the rear, and many other issues but I am not sure that I could do the kind of work you have done on yours, very technical! If only you lived down the road from me but alas there is an ocean between us! Thank you for your videos particularly the Saab videos.
Tell us what you can't do! ;) Do you work as a mechanic or is it just a hobby of yours?
It is one of my hobbies, I have lots of hobbies. I have been working on cars for over 30 years, including bodywork. Expert at only a few, but capable of many.
@@Ryengoth Keep it up! Really enjoy your content and how you teach us new things
@@Ryengoth I think that's understated!
Have you done a video on the coin acceptor? Mine put the coin to reject everytime. I take the top part out clean it and it work great until i install it and then nothing.
Which coin mech is it?
Cool stuff. I've found that a little teflon tape at the top of that handbrake adjustment plug along with a good copper paste cover will never get it stuck and creates a decent seal so crud doesn't get in.
I usually put anti-sieze on sealing plugs as well. I don't usually use pipe tape but you could also use pipe-thread sealant to seal the cavity.
Glad to see a new video from you. Keep those 9000's Rollins' down the road! My headliner cloth is stapled to the ceiling but that doesn't slow her down any. How hard is replacing the timing chain and tensioner? Mine sounds noisy. 1993 CSE turbo 5spd.
The easiest way is to pull the engine. You have to pull the timing cover off completely which is the entire front of engine. The valve cover and oil pan has to come off since they bolt to the cover and also serves as part of the oil pan sealing surface. The cover is sealed with anerobic sealant and has to be a perfect mating surface all the way around. There is no gasket.
I have 1995 Saab 9000 cs I love it
Does your model have the ODBII interface or the ODBI? It changed over in 95.
@Ryengoth the OBD1 so it’s practically impossible to diagnose codes lmao but most problems are easy to diagnose without scanning
@@Nobodyfashoooo chinese tech2 clone with v44 saab card will do anything you need.
You can always take the handle extension off of your jack and use it as a cheater pipe on your ratchet.
Yeah, I have snapped many aluminum bolts that way. The car ended up starving of oil anyway and seizing. N54 are a POS design. Never again.
Hi Ryengoth. Can you help me ? Could you, please, tell me where is located the cranckshaft pulse on a Saab 9000 turbo from 1990. You will be very Nice if you could show me on a video when you will begin the restauration of this new saab. Thanks.
The sensor is located behind the crankshaft pully on the 1990. Finding replacement parts for that older style sensor is getting difficult. Create a post on saabcentral.com under the "9000 Workshop" section to learn more information.

Would you be able to get me parts thank you a lot
Need axle seals and pinion
Your best bet is Albert Hwang on Facebook for Korea direct parts. Snoopy Panda can hook you up too. All of my GenCoupe parts designs and IP are his now.
Glad to see you working on her again! Found a metal flake in the last oil change on my Aero, so I took her offline while I settle on what to do there. I got some poly bushings and a braided clutch hose to keep me occupied. Lots of "while I'm in there" jobs already in my mind 😂
I wouldn't stress too much over a single flake. Drop the pan and check the intake screen. If the oil looks glittery I would pull the big end cap off #3 and inspect the shell and journal for galling.
@@Ryengoth I was planning to drop the pan and take a look. My thinking is, with 224k in miles, it probably wouldn't hurt to swap the bearings all together. Of course replacing anything else that seems worn while I'm in there. I'm pretty sure it can be done with the engine in. Why #3 specifically?
Was told it gets lower oil pressure and is common to wear bearings quicker. #4 is the farthest from the pump, so either one.
@@Ryengoth Good to know, you're always so darn helpful! Now that it's warming up I'll have to take a look in the next few weeks.
Congratulations on the project! I am restoring a 1997 9000 Aero! Greetings from Argentina!
Looks like I will be redoing some interior parts from water damage. Fenders almost cured, sanding and recoat video soon. Possible hood repainting as well.
This is the same sort of solenoid setup that ice machines use. I've had success disassembling and soaking the plastic parts in vinegar, citric acid, or CLR to dissolve scale buildup. If you're having trouble with it leaking or not working correctly. Often you can get it to work fine without replacing anything, just cleaning.
where did you buy your saab brake dust shield cover

Oh yeah, that S2000 tought me a lot about key chips and setup. I eventually sold it after adding multi-denom touch pad, TITO and a wifi hookup. The one-line pay got boring fast. Still looking for a cheap Bluebird video slot to play with.
What are those mechanical snap ring pliers?
Lang Tools 87. Heavy duty snap ring pliers. My favorite snap ring tool for any rings over an inch in diameter or ones that just will not budge.
@@Ryengoth Awesome! Thank you and I managed to get the snap ring out another way which was easy enough (amazingly). I’ll have to invest in the snap ring tool though.
Thank you for the videos. You give the 9000(s) the love they need to keep going. I'll be doing my heater core and fan blower in a week. - Saab 9k owner - Maine.
The heater core is a beast to get to. I accessed mine from the engine bay when the engine was out. The blower can be replaced without removing the entire hvac box. Remove all of the false firewall panels and the intake.
Awesome. Gotta do this on my 71 Pontiac
The best finish is to use a vinyl top pattern repair kit after you get the crack filled and levelled. The topcoat bubbled after 1 summer on my initial finishing.

It appears a squirrel sitting on the intake manifold my Saab 9000 chewed through the heat protective hose and into the vinyl fuel hose where it comes out of the top of the fuel rail I am curious how you would replace the hose with aftermarket hose, also clamps you would use for barbed connection and how far back under the car you would go with the replacement hose. I am pretty sure it is the fuel feed line and not the return hose. Thanks for any insight.

My temp gauge runs upp and down and there is not much heat in the coupé. I replaced the thermostat but its still the same so I bought a temp sensor and im gonna replace it. Heard there are 2 temp sensors though. I hev owned 18 Saab 9000 but I cant remember switching temp senosr of any of them.
The coolant sensor in the head is what the ECU reads for fuel maps and what the EDU deciphers for the dash gauge. It is likely the wiring is faulty or acidic coolant mixtures have dissolved the sensor casing.
@@Ryengoth Okay maybe I'll take a look at it today if I get the time for it. I did put in a new radiator aswell and another ac Unit.
@@BoRag70keep in mind, also, that the EDU and gauges are old. The lead free solder used on them gets brittle over time. Reflowing the joints on the cluster is another option if ths wiring checks out ok. If you have over 200k miles I would still replace the sensor to prevent future cold startup and idle issues.
@@Ryengoth Yes I have removed the cluster from several 9000 that I owned to fix issues. And almost every time I bought a 9000 there has been briken lightbulbs in the cluster that I had to replace. But when it comes to the poor heating in the coupé I heard that it also can be air it the system. Dont know how to get rid of that though if that is the case.
