Hodges Army Navy Surplus Store US Hwy 41 North, Marietta, Georgia. We walked in there in early 1962 to purchase gear for boating and camping. Today, December 26, 2024, it's still there. Probably still has most of the original dust and dirt inside. Today, they mostly rent stuff out for film, video and movie production as props and period clothing. Also probably from the Korean War era as well.

I remember the original Stanley's. Back in the late 60's, it was huge with pallet bins full of WWII stuff. The new one is OK, but the old stuff is obviously gone these days.

I had an original M-65 my brother got for me when he was in the army back in 1972. It was 100% Cotton Sateen. Not the 50% cotton, 50% Nylon they went to later. I had it for about 40 years until it just about fell apart. They do not make military clothing the way they used to. But I do have a 50-50 OD one made in the USA by the Golden Mfg. Co. that was made in 1993. I also have a liner that was also made in 1993 by the Royal Made Association for the Blind. The main thing to look for is if it was made in the USA. Some replicas are well made, and some are just plain junk.

That "annoying" triangle is very useful when sliding the sleeve of the jacket inside of gauntlet gloves or mittens during cold weather use.

I spent 28yrs in the Army. Living in South Texas, winter is really mild. Not much need for a field jacket. Also, I never liked them much. The liner? That is a useful piece of kit. Once in a while, I will wear it.

The pattern for the M65 eliminated that triangle cuff flap some time around the adoption of the ACU camo. I have an issued ACU M65 and it does not have them.

I'm 6'6" that extended sleeve, triangular flap was one of my favorite features! Anytime I can get extra length on a garment the better.

I highly suggest the Nalgene canteen that fit a usgi canteen pouch. They are plastic but you can leave water in them for extended periods and it doesn't taste disgusting. Supposedly they are bpa-free and the plastic won't leach into the water. Supposedly.

but now we are fukd cause they will run wild with the tri fectta and dikit all up. it is crazy to think one side is right about every issue, all the time. we have got to start working together or we are screwed. good points tho on the flag. I turned mine right side up on my truck hitch as well.

Good stuff man! I have both of those as well. The Alice saw pouch I use for my k9 stuff. Ball, colapable water bowl, treats etc.... the molle one i use as a GP pouch. Usually ends up with gopro parts and batteries in it.
