Bowhunting Kentucky, A Slow Start
In my first hunt of the year, I head to the bluegrass state of Kentucky. With ideal weather conditions, we try to capitalize on opening day, but unfortunately the deer don't read the script. The hunting was tough, but good times were had by all.

A Legend Returns, RENTING A Tractor to Plant Food Plots!
Просмотров 8 тыс.Месяц назад
In this week's episode, I finalized my 2024 fall plots by renting a tractor from a local hardware store. This was a cost effective, efficient way to get a food plot in the ground! There are several pros and cons to tilling a food plot, but a timely rain in the forecast sured up most of my worries. I wouldn't recommend this if you are in an area that is currently experiencing a drought and you n...
My Target Bucks of 2024, My Best Season Yet
Просмотров 11 тыс.2 месяца назад
In this week's episode, I start it out with finishing off my food plot that I recently sprayed with Landt Aerial Solutions. I stick with Monster Buck Rut Greens, and I add a healthy dose of fertilizer to aid the seed. Meanwhile, I also detail my hit list of 2024, and go over how I am finding these bucks during the summer months. Deer season is right around the corner, and I can't wait to be bac...

In this weeks episode, I end my two month long Hiatus and get back into deer mode. I check a few cards that I have put out in the last few weeks, and I actually make a new food plot. I dive into the process, and what I chose to do in order to keep this plot cost efficient, but still productive for the deer to utilize this fall. #DeerHunting #HuntingSeason #DeerSeason #HuntingTips #HuntingLife #...

In our annual trip to Nebraska to chase the ever elusive merriam's turkey, I meet up with good friend and mentor Jared Mills. We are also joined by owners of Elevate Stand Co. Jared & Josh Stubbs. Together we take an unorthodox approach to turkey hunting. Spot and stalk archery hunting flocks of 30 turkeys. We sure had a great time. If you like this content, make sure to like and subscribe. Finding My Target Buck's Sheds
Просмотров 4,3 тыс.6 месяцев назад
In what was a roller coaster of a season, I finally capped it off by finding my target buck, "The Flyer Buck" sheds. After several days of searching, I was able to match up the set by one of my best stands from last season. I also go into depth on what made that stand so successful, and what I will do next year to ensure I have a better season. #hunt #hunting #whitetail

THERMAL Hunting IOWA Coyotes ( we almost got ran over )
Is your home state Iowa and you’re just visiting Kentucky?
Correct. Iowa is home! I travel to a few different states throughout the year.
Tough hunt Ethan. Bucks were already on beans and bedding within them which makes it super hard to get on top of..They will transition to acorns when the crops are gone or bean leafs turn yellow..Good stuff never the less
Absolutely. Looking forward to Oct. 1
Man these smart phones are creepy! I was sitting in the stand yesterday and was wondering what happened to you. Hadn’t seen you on Bill’s show lately and you pop up on my feed this morning. Good luck to you!!
Haha, they tend to do that. Thanks for watching!
Also what editing software do you use?
I use premiere pro.
How high are you getting on ur hang and hunts? Good luck this season
I try to aim for 18-20’ depending on the situation. A lot of time it depends on the cover in the tree. More cover equals better shot opportunities and concealment.
I much prefer a breezy early season hunt. I can get in tighter to bedding, and it keeps the bugs off. Good luck this year
Absolutely. Deer seem to move better in slightly breezy conditions.
Keep up the work man love watching the channel and all you have been doing to improve your hunts .. god will send one your way when its time hope you will be ready !!
Always on his timing! Thanks for watching.
Good luck on your new channel and hunting career
Thank you Scott, I appreciate the support!
Are you done working/interning with Bill?
Yes, all of my hunts will be posted here now!
Early season In Kentucky is tough! Good luck this season!
Very tough! Thanks for watching.
Just subbed...nice 4k footage!
Thanks for the support!
I have to walk through my plots also. I didn't like the idea but it doesn't seem to bother them. Don't see them picking up my ground scent at all. Rubber boots and spraying them before walking in seems to do the trick for me.
That’s my plan as well. Thanks for watching!
I use a black adjustable flag holder that I bought off of Amazon. It's way easier to adjust the branch to the height you want, and I put a white oak branch in it. The leaves stay on the branch for a long time.
The leaves I put on there are dead, but have stayed on. If you’re going to run a trail camera I recommend knocking 90% of the leaves off to stop the camera from sending “false” pics. Thanks for the comment.
Finally an update 😅 looks great awesome setup. Time to hunt!
Ha, I need to get better at those. Thanks for watching!
In my experience certain scrapes will stay active year around. Especially inside timber edges. They’re just not as big like in fall. Good luck this year.
No doubt. Scrapes near main travel corridors will be a hub all year round. I see a lot of big community scrapes open up this time of the year through mid November. Thanks for the comment!
Plot looks good dude! Is that the farm with the flyer buck? Good luck in Kentucky!
Different farm. Thanks man!
Plot looks great, have you considered some 34-0-0, once the plants get up to 4 inches? I've found just before a rain, helps plots like this tremendously.
I have considered a variety of post emergent fertilizers. I know that brassicas love Nitrogen so I debated on doing a liquid fertilizer and spraying it on the plot. Thanks for the advice!
Love the update. Nice job!!!
Thanks Lonnie. It turned out as good as I could have hoped for. Thanks for your support.
Look great, good luck
Thanks Robert. Should be a fun season!
Will you be teaming back up with Bill Winke this year?
No, I won’t try to do much filming this fall. All of my hunts will be posted here!
Plot looks awesome. The good rain missed me in SE OK. Nit sure my plots will make. Good luck.
Dang! It doesn’t take much. I’ll cross my fingers for you!
Good job Ethan, keep it up and good luck in KY.
Thank you! Hopefully I have some exciting hunts to bring to you!
Food plot is looking really good. I plan to put me out a mock scrape pole like that and see what happens.
You won’t be disappointed. Thanks for watching!
So, we are headed to Kentucky the first weekend in September... Awesome!! Glad to be coming along
Weather looks promising. Good luck this season!
Good luck!!!
Thanks Mike, I appreciate the support.
The food plot looks great Ethan!
Thanks Eric! I was impressed
@@ethan_stubbs you’re welcome buddy! Good luck this season!
Why are the comments turned off on your most recent video with the mock scrape/ground bling?
Not sure? I’ll check that out. Thanks for letting me know
@@weekender38 should be fixed now!
Cons to using a disc: 1. terrible erosion when it does rain 2. Kills earthworms by the thousands 3. Kills beneficial microbes in the soil 4. Depletes soil moisture 5. Leads to a hard pan underneath where you tilled
Pair that with potential regeneration of dormant weed seeds, and there is definitely an argument for the no till strategy. I think breaking the ground for this first time plot was the best option. Next year I may try to get a drill to plant. Thanks for watching!
@@ethan_stubbs true. If ur gonna use a disc that would be the time
Thats not a disc, thats a rotary tiller.....
What’s your camera/gear you use for your RUclips videos that look awesome
Sony A7SIII. Drone is a DJI air 3
Check out those plots. You got the rain and a few days.
That’s the plan! We had a great rain immediately after we planted. Should be good!
Looks great! Bring on the rain. Good luck Ethan!
We got a great rain shortly after I planted! Just over an inch on my rain gauge!
Killin it man! It's all gonna pay off.
I hope so! Thanks for watching
Good luck Ethan!
Thanks Aaron!
As someone who owns land and a compact tractor, if you can rent a tractor for $350, don’t bother owning one. I have a $5,000 rototiller I use once a year for spring plantings. Obviously if you need the tractor for routine use like cutting CRP, then it might be worth it. Spending $20k - $50k for the equipment, you better use it every week if you think you’ll get your value back. Great planting and I see you got the rain you hoped for.
I agree, for now it doesn't make any sense to own one when I can do all of the work I need in one day. Next year, I may try to do all of my plots in the same day with that tractor. And yes, we did get the rain I was after! Just over an inch of rain in the last 24 hours. It has been slow and steady, so shouldnt have to worry about any washouts. Thanks for watching, I appreciate the support.
Renting a tractor is definitely a great way to go , I own mine , for my small 37 acres an a couple of leases I lease by myself, it is convenient, but when something tears up , I pay for it , when renting, no more than you have , you don’t have any expenses towards equipment upkeep , pay the fee , get your stuff done an carry it back , you can spend a bunch of $350 ‘s rather than $15000 for a decent used tractor, an that front end loader is with its weight in gold !!! Keep the shows coming, greatly enjoy watching your shows !!!
I hope u have a food plot update. What kind of seed did u plant
I planted MonsterBuck Overcast. It is a mixture of brassicas and clovers. A few of the spots I planted straight clover
Glad the flyer buck is back..I know you got a spot on the wall already picked out for him!
Oh yeah, just need to seal the deal this year!
Good luck with your food plots
Thanks Clay! Have a great week.
Keep it up bro! It's going to be one heck of a season ahead.
Thanks brother! Looking forward to it 👊🏻
Can't wait. Good luck this fall.
Thank you! I’m looking forward to it. Thanks for watching
Best of luck this fall season

Ethan, you need an intern! What's Bill doing? You should hire him.
This is the best thing I've read all day! Ha, @bill-winke are you in? Thanks for watching.
@@ethan_stubbs That actually does sound like fun. Let's do it. I will film you shoot the Flyer Buck! Just don't hunt him for two straight months like you did last year.
Hoping to have a few different options this year!
Bill’s pretty green. Be sure to not overpay him!
Food plot looks good Ethan, so glad to see Flyer Buck made it, he’s a brute now, sure hope you can hang a tag on him this season, good luck
Absolutely. His body size dwarfs all of the other deer on the farm. Looking forward to this fall!
Looks awesome. Best of luck to you!
Thank you! Good luck this fall!
Sweet little setup to rent! Perfect size for doing small plots like that! Them whiteflash photos are baddd!! I have a couple ordered so hoping I have a buck like that on mine when I get them out lol!
I’ve been impressed with the flashback cameras so far!
Ethan, your plot looks great!! A tiller really makes a great seed bed, that's for sure. Wondering, did you do a soil test? My similar sized plot needed a bunch of lime when we started it several years back. Look forward to seeing how your plot turns out. Take Care, Dave P.S. Good luck with Flyer!!
Yes, I did do a soil test. It wasn’t nearly acidic as I thought it was going to be. I may do some post emergent fertilizer depending on how the plot is looking. Thanks for watching!
Flyer added a drop... say whaaaaat!
That's what I was sayin! Should be a fun fall.
Glad to see you caught up with him! Good luck this year Ethan!
Finding him is half of the battle! October 1 can't get here soon enough. Thanks for the support!
If The love of hunting is measured by the work you are willing to out in it... Ethan, you and Kaleb Griener have solidified your standing among the channels i follow. Much success to you this season. How many bucks are you targeting this year
Thanks Woodland Gangsta. Kaleb and I have been good friends for quite some time, and we even got to hunt together during the fall of 2021. His work ethic is unmatched! Have a great week.
Man alive. $350 to till the ground to plant food to kill a deer. With the tractor, chemicals, fuel, seed, and time, you will have over $1000 invested in the food plot. I can buy a lot of beef for $1,000 and have it wrapped and sent to my home. I am sticking to traditional deer hunting with restored natural resources. I find that natural thick cover (TSI), the drop from farmers' crops (FREE) and natural prairie (CONTROLLING INVASIVES) can be as effective for deer health and harvest as food plots. Good luck! I hope your investment pays off!
Time is by far the most valuable asset in this type of work. Sure you can buy beef from a store, and it may even taste better, but it surely isn't as fun! I enjoy the "chess match" like approach of finding a property and putting in the work to not only increase the chance of a successful harvest, but also increase the property value, and I sure have a heck of a fun time doing it as well. I always find it cool when people go with the more traditional style of bowhunting. That's how I was raised! I haven't been into food plot work until the last 2/3 years, so to each their own. I'm hoping we both have big deer on the ground this fall! Have a great week and good luck!
@@ethan_stubbs I'm for anything that keeps people in the woods! Keep up the great work!
Great Job Ethan! Looking forward to watching the story this season, and good luck!
Thanks for watching! This fall is shaping up to be the best one yet!
