You beat me to it! I actually know the guy who took the video...
Wow. They have the video for that! Still unreal that they didn't choose to go around.
I just don’t get it. It’s the year 2024. We can communicate flawlessly with satellites and spacecrafts millions of kilometers away. Yet in aviation, people’s lives literally depend on poorly pronounced English over a noisy radio connection, every day. Why aren’t crucial pieces of information, like frequency changes or altitudes, transmitted in text form directly to a display in the aircraft? Can’t be serious that this is not technically possible? I will never understand this. Prayers to the people on the aircraft, so sad.
Totally unacceptable! There is zero excuse to run into another aircraft in VFR conditions. Grumman should have his ticket pulled for that!
Allegedly the Grumman had an "emergency". The emergency was being NORDO. The crash video was posted by a passenger in the Grumman. No words.
@@ernies7174 NORDO isn't an emergency. Last time I was PIC; my plane flew just fine without a radio. That said, nothing prevented the Grumman from landing on the taxiway, which was clear. If Hans Solo can do it; a Grumman can do it.
I felt like they could have handled the situation a little better too.
@@mrwonk NORDO absolutely is not an emergency. Poorly phrased on my end. This PIC panicked for no damn reason and created an emergency situation because he was NORDO. He could have done so many things differently. Literally anything to not destroy 2 planes and nearly kill 5 people. 44709 this dolt.
Extremely professional and tactful ATC. You can hear the pain and hope in their voice with those last calls.
The Coast Guard was probably close to gross weight and knew that they would be lifting 300 -400 pounds of new people onto the helicopter
Collar your autopilot servo circuit breakers. If they fight you pull them. Lots of pilots don't know what to do if a servo gets stuck and constantly tries to override your input.
So, in cases like these, sunken, beached planes etc, who or how do they recover the aircraft?
I think there are commercial solutions for these difficult conditions. But I am not too sure about that too. The marsh conditions will definitely make it even more challenging.
Boats with cranes
Request for not native English speakers; write numbers in 1-2-3 or 123 format and not one two three etc please. Easier to read
Thank you for sharing, that's something I have been thinking about too. As to which will be easier for everyone to understand.
can someone explain why did the CG need to dump fuel? I’m not that well versed when it comes to this kind of stuff but i’m curious
Hovering the helicopter during a rescue(hovering in general ) puts an IMMENSE load on the helicopter , uses the most horsepower and burns the most fuel . Contrary as it sounds dumping all that fuel is saving a TON of weight & is allowing the helicopter to have more stable performance and power on tap incase they need to maneuver . Now they are done searching they know there they are they can dump the extra fuel to get better performance out of the helicopter .
@@euba0149 Thank you!!
@Kjubb Also may not have been expecting two male patients. So max weight may could have been a concern. Like he said they get better performance if they're lighter. No idea what their standard operating procedures are. But makes sense to me that they'd always take off with full tanks. And dump fuel if the mission requires it. You can burn and dump fuel if you need to. But you can't put more in.
Who is responsible for FOD??
Yeah, sweeping the area might have helped prevent this.
Sometimes, only GOD! 🤪
Having a senior moment, from the sound of his voice.
Seems a bit premature… wouldn’t want you investigating.
@@A_A_J. I have seen enough incidents were some oldtimer who had no business flying solo any longer refused to see reality and got himself in trouble becaue he was simply not up for the task at his age. And this guy sounds old and slow. So my money is on task saturation due to old brain and no 2nd pilot on board to correct his mistakes.
@@Quotenwagnerianer & Ive seen enough envy to spot jealousy. One thing I can't see clearly is the photo credit to KTVU.
That looks like a rough spot to be in for the pilot. Any idea if those on board survived??
Yeah. Both on board survived. But they were seriously injured.
It happens. 🤷♂️ No evil intent.
Yeah, but it won't be a good day after that.
Why both to have a number to csll it djould have just been the culprit plane this is why tgey need good cctv all over the airport area
This is why they need cctv sll over the runway areas
The Korean air was an A380 as well. But it's gonna be hard for a CCTV to capture flying FODs.
Would be hard but top quality snd more of a webcam device thsn cctv as there very clear as I watched animals from africa on thrm and if someone live in control tower was watching them . Thanks you for replying to my comment😊
The controller sounds like a AI generated robot.
Now that you mentioned it.
I was driving l Past this as it was happening. Terrifying knowing I am learning out of the same airport
It happens. But thats why we practice! Stay safe out there!
Why are there 4 marking points around the temperature control knobs in the air-conditioning panel P5 of 737 800
Exploaded like a bomb. Was enormous orange cloud, red Sun and mushroom smoke, like earthquake. What is the difference of they said 2700 ir 2300 of the plane was bombed?
A security video.of the approach makes it look like the tail end of the plane suddenly drops, and the nose goes up. My theory is a load shift inside the aircraft, with heavy items sliding backwards.
I saw that video too! I am curious what the investigation will reveal.
I was holding short of 9L and watch the whole thing go down. Poor guy must have been freaking out , he could barely hold 600 feet in the pattern
I would have been really stressed out too. Thankfully everyone made it out safe.
No mayday or anything at all
Indeed! Not what I had in mind before hearing the recordings.
Be cause probably he got shot by fast rocket due to his content. Vilnius had enormous orange cloud, red Sun and mushroom smoke. He couod have crashed on purpose ir was shot. Many videos and whitness. You all start from the wrong point.
Hey asshat, Boeing didn't crash the plane the company who owns it did. Tired of seeing crappy reporting by folks who obviously have no clue what they are talking about.
That ATC woman sounds half asleep. Need to be sacked for putting the Tech crew in harms way.
2700 lady says pilots ok 2300 👌 ok she'd should of said no dummy 2700 that what of fix it but lady atc not paying attention
Only people that can speak clear and precise English should be flying or controlling.
That is going to limit a large part of the world from doing so.
It was yesterday
What got me curious - why do speak about the flight level in complete numbers in Feet?. Twothousendsevenhundred takes so much longer than Two Seven and leaves so much more room for errors.
I might be reading your question wrongly, but the ICAO phraseology does spell out how they need to say it.
This is scary and ridiculous. What can be done about future communication?
Honestly, that's a real difficult problem I think.
Miscommunication leads to the most fatal crashes
Its always the miscommunications.
I flew in the Middle East in a previous life. In some airspaces there, if you would read back a wrong instruction, you wouldn't be corrected. Pilots had to monitor themselves all the time, regarding radio comms. Poor fellows, hope the ones injured can survive.
I don't want to jump into conclusions here so this is just to list my observations after listening to the conversation a few times. The pilot in BCS18D uses non-standard phraseology. He wants to know if they are cleared for the approach but he uses terms like "authorized" and "confirm to the ILS". He also seems tired, for example using incorrect callsign and using a lot of words to ask for simple things. The same goes for the approach controller. Her phraseology is sloppy and she seems tired, for example she doesn't correct the incorrect QNH readback from BCS18D. Also, she doesn't seem to understand the question from BCS18D regarding the approach clearance. But none of this should bring an aircraft down, so I'm curious to get more details on what was going on in the cockpit.
So why you are here if you dont want to jump?
I am waiting for more details too.
crash happens at 1:46
As of this morning Lithuanian authorities and DHL were probing the possibility of sabotage from terrorists, or the Russians according to the Associated Press. But after looking at a couple of security videos of the crash it looks a lot more like controlled flight into terrain to me. Hard to imagine these days with EGPWS and the radio altimeters on a smooth descent, but that just goes to show you we’re far from done with air accidents so long as the human factor is involved.
The video did look a lot more like a controlled flight into terrain. I guess we will have to wait for the investigation to shed more light into it.
😢
The transcription is poor. There are several mistakes. Please review it.
Sorry about that, i did try my best but there are parts which were challenging for me to catch.
Sounds like rather a lot was lost in interpretation, if not translation! Non-English speakers from different countries getting it horribly wrong.
It was rather challenging trying to transcribe the audio.
SLOW DOWN CLICKBAIT FANS IT IS NOT THE 1,000 SEATER CLICKBAIT EXPRESS JUST AN OLD PLANE ON THE EDGE OF THE WOODS
The 737 Max is a death trap PERIOD. It is a crime against humanity and the truth will come out.
Apparently a flight just before the crash diverted and weather was gusty. Would bet on windshear or icing not communication problem. Seems to be significantly warmer in Germany.
I should look more into that. Thanks!
They turned onto the runway so late.
It seems like a combination of factors led to this tragic incident just moments before landing. Miscommunication played a significant role: the pilot was given 2700 ft but read back 2300 or 2500 ft(?), and this was not corrected by ATC. The QNH was also misread (1019 instead of 1020), and again, no correction was made. Additionally, there was confusion regarding the ILS confirmation, which the pilot repeatedly requested, losing valuable time. On top of that, the ATC used 'th' instead of 'two' and omitted 'decimal' when giving the frequency, potentially adding to the misunderstanding. If the wrong frequency was indeed used, this might explain the lack of communication in the final seconds. This highlights the critical importance of precise and timely communication in aviation. My thoughts go out to everyone affected by this tragedy.
It's a tragedy indeed. Unfortunate how all of this aligns. But I am hoping the preliminary investigation will shed more light on how it happened.
@ATCSpotlight I absolutely agree with you. Miscommunication undoubtedly played a significant role in this tragedy, but it doesn’t change the fact that the aircraft, under the pilots control, continued descending in clear visibility, far from the runway lights. They should have seen that there was nothing ahead and that they were too low. This only reinforces the pattern we see in many aviation accidents: a chain of small factors, each insignificant on its own, gradually builds up to disaster. It’s a sobering reminder of how fragile safety can be and how vital it is to address every detail before it’s too late.
DEI hires.
@@Instant_Nerf tf is that supposed to mean? Because ATC is a woman it could only possibly be due to DEI policies?
@eglevyzintaite4171 yah the lady's not even listening to the pilots she said 2700 pilots ok 2300 she should of said yo I said 2700 jerky wth
i always hated the fact that they use such english and speaking very fast not really caring about it. english is not their first language why wouldn’t they speak slower!!!
Yeah, for the untrained ears like mine, it was a struggle for sure.
Perfect point. Also valid for a much broader use of the language. I say this being a Lithuanian too and getting frustrated every now and then, whenever I hear a fast English speech, especially with a strong accent (or especially a dialect): - Why people just don't talk slower?
With that name you should know how busy bravo is, the stress that ATC are subject to is inmense, pilots are trained to listen well whats called aviation English, while for the untrained ear sounds crazy for me it makes sense, sad accident regardless @saulius2
@@pedromejias4552 here we understood that they’re not really well trained. readback a few times if needed. do you really know how many crashes caused the misunderstanding?! let me tell you then: Avianca Flight 52 Air Florida Flight 90 Singapore Airlines Flight 006 Linate Airport Disaster PSA Flight 182 American Airlines Flight 965 Tenerife Airport Disaster I know the pressure, I’m not in aviation but I read about so many investigations, I watched the videos of tower staff working. in aviation you don’t have a second chance most of the time so there should be new rules. let them fly 10-15 mins more but just make sure that the numbers are correct, speak slower, especially in bad weather and night time. there’s no need to rush, people better wait than die.
@claudian6257 the reason you don't understand what's like being either on the cabin or in the control tower, each accident leaves a lesson learned the reason why aviation is the safest way of transportation, English is not my mother tongue but I'm certain that the industry is well built to maintain high safety standards, perhaps fatigue played a part in both parties involved, specially at this period of the year
DHL still shipping arms for Israel’s Genocide.
The Pilot asked several times whether the ILS aproach is aviable, this was confirmed several times too. But it looks like the ILS was faulty, they changed suddenly the glideslope and the nose gone steeper down. May be pilot error Or ILS error? Technical issues?
Good point
Yeah, I saw the video of the crash too. But I am not too sure about that.
Another video: ruclips.net/video/MXyXgSu5CBE/видео.html&
I believe you have the wrong transcript at 1:07. The pilot also repeated 2700 feet. It just sounds a bit like 300 because it is said so fast. Listen to it without looking at the text and you'll notice.
Yeah you got a point. I slowed it down and it does sound something like “say hundred feet” due to the accent.
Nope, been listening to it tens of times, different speeds and all TRYING to by any means hear "2700" or the "2300" suggested and all I hear is a clear "five".
@@jm-holm i can hear 3 and 7 but no five. Well, we can't really know until the official report.
