THINGS TO DO SUNSHINE COAST | EUMUNDI MARKETS | QUEENSLAND | LOCAL HOTSPOT
A must on the To Do List when exploring the Sunshine coast, is the Eumundi Markets. Located in the heart of Eumundi, a small town located about 30-40mins from the Sunshine Coast airport by car, this deadly market has been a local favourite since 1979.
The "Make it, Bake it, Grow it, Sew it" theme of the markets highlights a diverse range of offerings, all crafted with care and skill by local artisans and growers. Here's what each component of the theme typically entails:
Make it: This includes handmade arts and crafts, ranging from jewellery and pottery to woodwork and paintings.
Bake it: This focuses on homemade baked goods, such as bread, pastries, cakes, and cookies. These items often us...

    It’s a great hotel, we’ve stayed at all of them and keep going back to the Shangri-La. I will say it needs a revamp it is getting a bit tiered in places and the rooms get a lot better as you go up. The Blu Bar is fantastic and superb cocktails but the great thing after the views is it’s location

    Great video again this week. Kamay NP actually has two distinct areas as you probably know. The Northern area you showed today, and a more Southern area around near Boat Harbour. This area has a natural rock pool (also used by divers to the area to access dives site to the south) which is an even better place for whale watching - although most people don't know it. I have led many, many dives out of this area (and The Leap as well). What is little known is that from this area an underwater trail to the south (which would not only have been visible 19-20K years ago), but would have been walkable to a very significant site which has overhead protection for the indigenous population at a time when sea levels were 20m lower than they are today. Surfers often use this area as well and call the spot "Suck Rock". I often take people here as part of a Scuba diving experience. As an archaeologist, I would love to do more research on this area, but I can't imagine anyone would want to fund it. Whilst the sea has covered the rock walls, it would be a good bet that stone artefacts could be found in a number of spots I know of. The area goes down to about 24m, which would have been the ancient shoreline. It would have been a beautiful area 20k years ago when sea levels were lower. Thank you for showing off the northern area today. You might care to walk all the way around past the light house and out to the souther shoreline area and find the rock pool where the cliffs end at a beach area. Alternatively, you could contact me and I can take you and show you the area. Message me here if you wish. Cheers GB.

      I have actually never heard of "Suck Rock". Unfortunately I am not trained in scuba diving but is on the to-do list for 2024 before we head up to the Reef later this year. Awesome GB! Thanks mate

    • @gbsailing9436
      @gbsailing9436 5 месяцев назад

      Suck Rock is a local surfer term for the spot. Most refer to it as VooDoo. The name reflects what happens to the wave as it passes over the "passage/trail" area I spoke to you of - the wave dies and collapses. If you watch a white water wave closely you can see this if you watch it to the south as they roll in from the east. Have you been to the area? The rock pool is great at high tide and safe for children (even better at low tide - albeit a lot smaller) as they can't really be washed out to sea even though it may resemble a bit of a washing machine at times. Parental guidance is always recommended of course, but it affords parents the opportunity to help teach kids to review fish habits, in both macro and micro environments. When submerged, the rocky shelf can be walked around on safely in bare feet (even when underwater) which is nice, but using small fins and swimming is always a nice conservatory plus for the environment. It would be great if you could do a separate video on this area combined with the adjacent Boat Harbour area. Feel free to make my comments above on the area your own for the benefit of viewers. @@kylene_anderson

    Hey thanks for putting this together. Great video nicely presented, albeit somewhat in a non logical/non sequential order as the path flows. Please cover Darook Park next with the walk coming in from the very south end of the park showing the southern Nudist Beach and then the more frequented Darook Park beach and sand bar - which literally extends (and can be walked in water) all the way to the other side of the river to within 30 m of the western shoreline!!! It would be good to show a google map arial view of the sand bar for viewers to see this aspect! Will you do the Deban Spit off Bonnie Vale when you do the Royal NP? It is a great walk at the end of the day, looking for shells and drift wood , and just watching sunsets, etc.
