We did the hike in from late November to early December. The weather was generally good, though the wind was as strong as advertised, and there was a blizzard at the end. 🌬❅❅ Thanks for watching!

@@natasha_rihs Tell them Meownderlust says "Hola!". We did Huayhuash in July and the weather was perfect. The Andean summer, which is roughly May-September, probably gives you the best weather. I hear it is very green and beautiful if you go a bit earlier than that. My understanding is that November to February can be quite rainy/snowy, and some of the passes can be closed at that time. Whenever you go, it will definitely be cold at night, so bundle up! Have a great trip!

We saw Rainbow Mountain in the distance and thought it would be cool to add to the itinerary, but we didn't have the time. Gorgeous trek regardless! Tough question! We would love to do more trekking in Peru. Huayhuash and Ausangate are definitely the top two. We might give the edge to Huayhuash because we spent more time on the trail there. We only did day hikes in Cordillera Blanca, but it was stunning and we would love to return. Of course, Salkantay was great, too. Peru is truly a hiker's paradise!

@@pkmexplorers Salkantay wasn't as crowded as I expected, but there were certainly more people than the other treks in we did in Peru.

We visited in April, which is in the rainy season, so the lagoons and canals were quite flooded. You can visit any time of year, though you may have a different experience/environment. I believe September/October are the dry season in Cuyabeno, but the forest might still be flooded. However, there has been a lot of drought in the Amazon recently, so it is probably less predictable. Even if the forest is not flooded, I'm sure it is an interesting place to visit. For example, that is the best time to see anaconda 🐍. Enjoy your trip! 🐒

Cheers! Yeah, I’d say it’s necessary. We encountered a couple without a harness, and they had to use our rope to get up. There are three peaks total. We did the south one, so I can’t say for certain if the North and Central peaks require a harness, but probably. Beautiful hike!

Glad you liked it! No other equipment required, though we did come across a couple groups that roped up for the final ascent/descent, so I guess it depends on your comfort level. We didn’t think it was too bad, but it can be slippery if it’s raining.
