D Led asked Kirk about health in general after benching. Not just Achilles. Kirk denied any health concern. Said it was all about turnovers and decisions. In the GMFB interview he also says that his Achilles was healed but the ankle wasn’t right. Even though he said all season that his ankle was fine. Kirk saw a drew bledsoe Tom Brady situation and refused to step aside. By definition a reportable injury is one that requires the player to miss time in practice or a game. Even if the shoulder was sore,if Kirk took every rep and played every game, the injury was not reportable. By reports, the clerical error comment was made by Kirk, not the team. They listed him on the Wed report in week 11! This is as you said, Kirk knowing his time in Atlanta is done, and knowing that the only way he gets out is via trade. The only way he gets traded is to make his poor performance a result of injury, not judgment. Even though he told Dan Orlovsky during that period that he would come off the field asking “why did I just do that?”
