A co worker has a half ton Chevy with the 6cylinder diesel gets 33 mpg no trailer on the road
PLEASE HELP. I need to rent a Sienna or a Pacific. I need to accomodate 4 adults, 3 kids (7 at total). However, I need to carry 7 large cases in a 3 hours travel. Which one would be better for carry such people and cargo? Not sure if I can acomodate some of the cases on the corridor of the second row seats. In Sienna seems I can use the middle removable seat for one kid and fold one of the seats on the third row. So, looks like to me that the Sienna would be bigger in such scenario, right?
@@sandrocamillo honestly, either would be fine. However, since you’re traveling 3 hours, I might lean towards the Sienna for better fuel economy assuming the Pacifica rented for the same amount
Does anybody know what graphics package he is using in this video?
Make it like new, again! Why drive crap?
I have a question for those who tow with the 3.0 Duramax. How is the engine braking and exhaust brake performance when towing and going downhill?
@@jimbrown7082 from my experience towing my camping trailer (which is just like the one in this video) over to the coast, it made a significant difference. It radically reduced how much braking I needed while going downhill.
My new purchase was an Altitude (not L). Coming from a Tundra V8, making 12mpg, I am really impressed with this V6 averaging 22mpg. It did come with a tow package, but I had to get U-haul to add a hitch, which would have been nice that it were included stock. The seats are incredible, for someone with back issues, this was a great surprise. I foresee lots of travels, and MANY fewer gas stops!
Thinking of getting one of these. Think it can handle a two horse trailer easily? Total is about 5300lbs.
@@petered92 absolutely. My camping trailer weighs a lot more than that and tows it great with a weight distribution hitch.
Really glad you did this video. I've been considering the zr2 with the duramax but was on the fence about it towing my trailer. This answered and lot of the question's I had.

I was totally SOLD on the AT4 till i saw your video. I’m a Toyota guy and was looking to upgrade my 2009 Tundra. Didn’t like the newer Tundra’s with all the engine failures the last few years and the decision to change engines from the old proven v8 Tundra’s, so I’ve been looking at other brands over the past few weeks and i was sold on the AT4. But this video kinda changed my mind and got me researching the ZR2. Gonna definitely try to test drive one soon and if i do purchase this truck i will definitely go for the 6.2 V8 model.
GET KROGER DISCOUNT FOR DIESEL IF YOU HAVE ONE NEAR BUY. i get a $1.00 off each gallon each time i go

Jeep used to offer a lot of things as standard on the Limited trim model. They have tossed that to the wayside in favor of greed. The rearview mirror, for example, on the WK2 Limited had homelink, auto dim, etc. The mirror that comes on the Limited for the WL model is now a 20-year old manual dim. That's it. Oh, you want the auto dim with digital rearview and homelink? Now you have to ADD the Tech II package to get that. Absolute bullshit. Same with the 2-speed transfer case option ... it came standard on the WK2 Limited, now the WL Limited is just AWD with the traction settings. These are just a few of the things ... they changed the front fascia/grill between the Laredo/Limited and the Overland/Summit. So if you WANT to install the tow hooks, for example, you would have to change the entire lower bumper cover and grill, etc. That is bullshit engineering.
@@rarelibra I agree that the amount of packages offered and the amount of features that are package locked is absurd. Jeep isn’t the only offender and manufacturers need to go the route of offering more as standard and the higher trims should truly have more and be exceptional
@@MOHAWKAUTO this all happened after Covid ... the 2021 model was the last WK2, and the WL came out in 2022 with all of these weird package options. And you can't install an aftermarket autodim mirror with homelink because even if you know how to tap the map light to power it, you need the dealer to flash the ECU to use it. Here's another thing I noticed on my new WL ... I needed a tow package (instead of installing the OEM tow package like I did on my WK2) ... luckily I bought one with it ... I've heard some who thought the "tow prep" package was a tow package ... yeah, they should probably read (and actually LOOK at it like I did before buying) ... on the Overland models, there is a "tow eye" in the back that screws onto a thread hidden by the lower left "square" on the bumper. Does my Limited, which has a tow package, have that? NO. Why? Their logic is that you would use the hitch area instead. Just weird.
@@MOHAWKAUTO and speaking of tow packages and such ... when I did install the OEM tow package on my WK2, it came prewired. VERY easy to do. Now, on the WL? Nope. You will have to buy a harness, install it, and then flash the ECU to use it. We had to do this on a friend's 2021 Cherokee Trailhawk... we had to run a harness, etc. Cherokee is not the luxury model like the Grand Cherokee ... just wondering why they are doing this, because it cheapens the Grand Cherokee name.
the 3.6 Pentastar is grossly underpowered, and has been for years. It is a reliable engine, but don't kid yourself on "improvements".
That is NOT a WK2 platform. That is the WL platform, dude.
These things are a beast in the snow. Very aware it’s no where near as close to it’s bigger brother (actual bronco) but this is still a pretty good weekend warrior.
The older Grand Cherokee models were pretty tight in the rear especially in the footwells. Sitting behind a taller person meant your feet got caught under their seats. That would be my concern if I bought a 2022-2025 Grand Cherokee.
Man Diesel is much cheaper down in twin falls, nice truck, good video! ZR2s really lose some mpg vs the standard truck
@@ZebulonDmax it’s true that they do lose the mileage, but that suspension is so much nicer.
@ that’s why I want to get one, but I don’t want to get rid of my LBZ
@ I’d love to have an LBZ and I don’t blame you for wanting to keep it.
11:41 Lots of room? U filling up the entire driver's side rear of cabin.

So did you calculate the actual milage or just go by the app
I think the ZR2 is probably more of an issue than the 3.0 LZ0 as far as towing. That off-road suspension is just a little loosey-goosey for me. But I am absolutely kicking myself for trading my 3.0 LZ0 for a 6.2 as I do pull a heavy boat 6 times per year, but the other 359 days per year I commute. MAN I miss that 27 MPG on my 3.0 Silverado. I also miss the drama-free driving up and down hills in the 3.0. so buttery smooth and almost no gear kick downs due to the power is in the lower rpm range. Just love that motor! If I was pulling a travel trailer or even my boat regularly, I would go 3/4 ton, but 90% commute and light utility hauling in the bed, the 3.0 is my favorite motor/powertrain ever in a 1500.
@@dalelangehennig161 I agree. The suspension is one of the ZR2’s best qualities, but it is also the reason it sags more than other trims. However, that can easily be corrected. Since this video was posted I purchased a trailer very similar to this and a weight distribution hitch and I’ve had no issues towing.
@@MOHAWKAUTO Awesome! Such a great truck and drive train, and I love the ZR2 suspension, just mentioning about the towing issue. I bet the Weight Distribution hitch helps a lot. Either way, it is a super great truck! Hope GM keeps the 3.0 in the line up as a staple and continues to refine. After owning all brands full size and HD, the 1500 3.0 is my final choice as the best combo unless extra heavy towing. I can see myself driving that drive train in all my trucks going forward. Absolute butter smooth. Thanks again for the great video and content!
Limited listed with same MPG as the XLE
Buddy of mine bought 2024 RsT 3.0L Diesel and he get amazing fuel economy….all the tower power and the some as opposed to his F150 with the Coyote…he has an 18’ boat, says doesn’t even realize it hoked up compared to the F150. Over 1000km or 630 miles on a tank..when hauling his boat, he normally has to fill up on the way up and back, towing his boat…with the RsT, he fills once about half way…on the return trip. The one thing he complains about is the infotainment system and how GM rooks you into paying in order to use Bluetooth CarPlay..so he has to wire up in order to get it…plus he can’t seem to get ride of programmed apps that forces ads ….and really shame of GM. Other than that…as a ford fan, & was originally going for another Ford with the Coyote …but when he test drove the 3.0L diesel he loved the Silverado so much, took him 20min to ditch the Ford as an option….
I'm interested in seeing the next video. What did you do with it? I'd definitely put new paint on it and change the front grill and bumpers. Hope you still got it and it went well. All the best, Pat
@@EverythingRVbyPat I still have it and I have done some much needed maintenance. I plan on focusing on the motor and making sure it’s running at its very best before worrying about its cosmetics.
@@MOHAWKAUTO Of course you have to get it running top notch first. I was assuming that was the case. LOL!!! Looking forward to seeing more videos on this guy... Thanks again, Pat
I towed an empty 18 foot toy hauler and got 6 mpg with my Tundra. Just sayin
Ok, but too much talking. Just to the trip and give the stats. Makes the video about five minutes lone.
Good luck getting these junker serviced or getting parts in a year or two when they're out of business
I have a 2022 with the same engine. You need a helper spring on these 1500’s to help keep the nose of the truck down. Before i did spring modification i had people flashing their brights at me all the time, it was blinding oncoming drivers with just the normal headlights.
Wow thats awesome real world towing like all 1/2 tonners Cali Squat check 😂
The 10 mpg your buddy is getting is likely due to a heavy foot and his lift kit and bigger tires. I have a 2018 GMC Sierra Denali with the 6.2L engine and the onboard computer is showing an average of 17 mpg but I drive mostly in town. When I'm on the interstate I can easily get 21 mpg. Plus, the smiles per mile is waaaaay higher with the 6.2 vs the 3.0 Duramax.
That could be true if you added up multiple years. My 2024 iforce MAX has had 0 recalls. Chevy’s rust out something awful and have shitty transmissions that GM is getting sued over plus the lifter and cam issues plus injector problems. Well I hope my Tundra has an engine recall I would like a new one. One thing is for sure we looked at Chevy trucks and they are junk on the inside. The 1794 tundra is no competition for a Chevy. It’s a fort escort to a Cadillac.
I love it, but many say jeeps dont last. Can't believe as expensive as it is, dont last.
@@juanrosa2653 idk why people say that. Like many vehicles, when properly maintained they can last a long time. Also, it’s important to modify them properly and I’ve seen plenty of examples of people going cheap or taking shortcuts to save a few bucks and then end of having much larger and more expensive issues.
Great Story! Thanks for trashing those Gross Chrome rims..
@@redneckindustries thank you for watching the video! I’m glad you enjoyed it.
Why this truck has no front differential lock and sway bar disconnect function? How can it be great off-road truck?
I’m 6’5 I feel like there’s no car for me man
There’s a good amount of vehicles you can fit in. Midsize and larger SUVs and trucks tend to allow for taller people to fit well. However there are cars you should be able to fit in well, but rear occupants may not have much room behind you.
I have 5ok on mine and have towed a lot. Mine is 2023 gmc at4.
Only fuel any personal vehicle until the nozzle kicks off. Don't keep trying to squeeze it to top it off. There's a vent hose with a charcoal filter and it will ruin it.
12:38: You got it to START? Jeep's reliability is sub-par.
It's your boy.....errrrrrr...I almost down voted you lol.
Squatted trucks are dumb. I don't care what clown thinks it's cool.
If someone doesn't want to spend the money on a proper WDH, they probably shouldn't be buying a camper.

I have the 3.0 Duramax and towed my TT to Yellowstone and back, around 2300 miles. My TT is closer to 8000 lbs. Got around 11.5 mpg. But the big consideration for me in trading my 5.3 v8 for the 3.0 was operating rpm. My 5.3 had to spin around 4300 rpm to handle mountain grade hills and couldn’t really go much over 50 mph. The Duramax handled them at 2500-3000 rpm and could maintain 65 mph and usually accelerate up those grades.
I love the Grand Cherokee and wouldn’t need the L because it’s only me and the more seats you have, the more people invite themselves into my ride. 😅 I made a HUGE mistake selling my 2020 Grand Cherokee when the market was great for selling. I had the Altitude package with the blackout. It was that lovely StingGray color and I named her Stormy. I replaced my GC with a Ford Bronco Sport and I’ll say that I’ve had it for 2 years and I’m going back to a GC next year. The two don’t compare. I feel like I’m driving a tin can, so it has to go. Nothing compares to a V6 (Bronco Sport is a 1.5L). Great review!! I’m soaking it all in.
It’s always a head wind going from Boise to mountain home lol my truck feels it all the time but coming back to Nampa is a breeze
