    I have just purchased the 8x32 NPL absolutely love them, ideal size for me, particularly in woodland, and light for when I'm carrying photo gear, nice and clear, great FOV, best binoculars I've ever owned. Great review.

    They are expensive but one benefit is that they are analog. There are no computers or batteries. This means they can last for many years and perform exactly the same. If you are younger, buy them before your eyesight starts to degrade and you will likely be able to enjoy them for the rest of your life. It seems the rubber shell is the weakest link that will dry rot after 40 years, but they designed that to be removable, so it can be replaced easily. The body is metal. Optically and structurally they are robust. I really think these can last a lifetime or more.

      @@jrnumex9286 The normal aging process causes difficulty distinguishing colors, needing more light to see well, difficulty focusing, poor night vision, and other changes. Your ability to hold binoculars steady decreases and your physical ability to go places also decreases. And this is all for normal aging. Diseases you can develop are age related macular degeneration, cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, hand tremors, mental disorders, MS, cancer, and a bunch of other conditions that will make it difficult or impossible to enjoy binoculars.

    Super, interesting comparison video. I have the Leica Q2 and Sony RX1R mkii and find myself using the Sony most of the time. The sensor combined with the Zeiss sonar creates beautiful sharp images with wonderful micro contrast. Just make sure you take at least three extra batteries with you for a day out! Most of the RUclips and Internet photography channels, are commenting that camera manufacturers should be producing more premium FF compacts. Fuji have at least updated the X100 with the VI but Sony have only released the A7Cii / A7R which are not RX1R replacements. OM Systems have not replaced the PENF. They are failing to address the market demand and losing potential sales. Camera manufacturers are still focussing on the hybrid video / stills / creator space. Its full of offerings and crwded market. Do something different and adventurous!

    One more good video but at the end It would be interesting To see the Photo. One question why do you use A velvia film and not a Provia 100 f? One more question where did you Buy your cameras 612 and 617 Horseman?... because these cameras are not easy To find

    • @Fabsinthewild
      @Fabsinthewild 4 месяца назад

      I still have to develop the film, will share the results once done, just takes time. I like Cloudy day = Velvia Sunny day = Provia I think Velvia is at its best when you have a lot of greens (like a forest or lawn shot), but otherwise I prefer Provia. Horseman 612 can be easily obtained, 617 is almost impossible, nobody sells, very limited production, and probably the best 617 ever made

    Im so struggle to pick between 8x32mm and 8x42mm, I do use it on dusk and twilight sometimes, but I kinda hard to justify is the 200g weight different make much different..they about the same size tho, so my only concern is the differences between comforts( weight etc) and their optical difference on cloudy day or twilight.

    • @RedShiftedDollar
      @RedShiftedDollar 2 месяца назад

      I recommend the 10x42. The reason is that the FOV is similar to many 8x binoculars, so they will give you that wide feel, but they give you a little more magnification too. Then get the forehead rest which improves stability and makes them perform like a typical 8x pair in terms of steadiness and shake prevention. The forehead rest makes a big difference.

    • @Funkfuzzz
      @Funkfuzzz 2 месяца назад

      The 32mm’s are very bright as well.. I compared them and couldn’t justify the price and weight difference.

    • @user-yt5xc2sn3d
      @user-yt5xc2sn3d 2 месяца назад

      I have bought the 8x42, Im very happy with it, 32mm might be an option but I guess I can appreciate either of them, if I can't handle the weight for long period of gazing then I'll just use a monopod etc for it.

    • @RedShiftedDollar
      @RedShiftedDollar 2 месяца назад

      @@user-yt5xc2sn3d good choice. You can’t go wrong with any variants of these binoculars. Some of the fundamental benefits of the 8s are a brighter image, larger exit pupil for easier positioning of your eyes, wider FOV, and increased steadiness- especially with the forehead rest. One thing I experience a lot with the 10s is that the FOV is so wide that I get to move my eyeballs to look around. But with the smaller exit pupil, the turning of my eye moves my pupil outside the image circle and my view goes dark. The depth of field with the 8s is also thicker so they are easier to focus and keep moving subjects in focus as you track. The 8s are better in a lot of fundamental ways. I also like the 42 best because of ergonomics. They fit perfectly in hand with the twisted wrap barrel. They are surprisingly small too. They are a lot smaller than a lot of other 42s from other manufacturers.

    Nice cameras. I owned a Horseman 6x12 with a 45 or 47mm lens( I forget what Rodenstock it was. I'm guessing a 47). I changed to a Linhof 6x17. The 6x12 didnt feel cinematic enough for my tastes.

      I used to shoot with 613 Technorama and 65mm Super Angulon, but the pre rise (or fall, if you flip the camera upside down) prevents from doing levelled symmetrical shots. That’s why the horseman SW617 pro might be the perfect cinematic camera 😉

      In my own experience, a fast ball head works for video if the camera isn't heavy. If you can quickly level it (because video needs that horizon) it can work because you can pan with a ball head, but as soon as you want to tilt it's gonna be a bit finicky. On my ball head, I can use an xt4 for video but when I get the xt4 on a rig with battery, cine lens mic handle follow focus, it becomes too heavy for a regular ball head so I use my fluid head.

    Is there an option to turn off HDR for these videos?

    • @Fabsinthewild
      @Fabsinthewild 4 месяца назад

      Not sure tbh, try this: 1. The first method, if possible, is to disable HDR on your device. If you have a PlayStation 5, for example, you can go to Settings > Screen and Video > Video Output and then set HDR to Off. With HDR turned off, the RUclips app on the PS5 will display videos in SDR even if you decide to play a HDR video. 2. If you don’t have the option to disable HDR on your device, then you can try watching RUclips videos over a browser. For example, the Google Pixel 6 phone does not let you turn off its HDR display. This means that HDR will be enabled when you watch a HDR video on the RUclips app.
