Happy new year Ali , I just started my chilli seeds too, trying to stick to doing 7 varieties, and not too many this year , I have over wintered 5 chillies from last year at home for the first time so fingers crossed the come back strong . Good luck for the new year growing . Let’s grow …….
Happy New Year to the family 💜🧡 I too am trying not too many but Jason and Jimmy sent me challenge chillies. I don’t know how Jason keeps track of his 🤣🤣 I’d be a basket case looking after them. I know Dipak the Raw London Gardener over winter his with great success but my one attempt they went mouldy. Here’s to a fab season 🤞 well once it stops being minus 4c 🤷♀️ in the morning
@ I have an orange flame overwintering and it’s looking great fingers crossed , just removed the last of last years chillis that don’t make it , and already have good new growth , the one last at the allotment inside but I heated all went mouldy and are now empty . I thought I would give it a go this year .
It truly nourishes the mind, body, and soul. Thank you for sharing your passion and positivity.
Thank you 🙏
I am a little late to this one, sorry Ali. Great to start the sowing year off
No worries Mike I can relate to that I get behind and have to play speed catch up 🤭. Have a fab day and sorry about the Santa 🎅 beard your chin will be cold 🥶
@@myrustygarden you are so right there I have missed the beard, so cold!
Hi Ali, I'm late to the party again. 🤦♀️ I've been in a self imposed YT hibernation...I just needed a break, but now I'm trying to chatch up again. This is a lovely update. Good luck with the chilli challenge...it will be interesting to see how they all fare. Take care, Annie 🐞 🐝 🌱
I can totally understand a break Annie it can be daunting all this social media. I normally don’t do chillies as we don’t use them but for Jason and Jimmy I was willing to give them a go 🤭. It’s super cold here s9 I do my catch ups in the morning -5c usually 🥶
Hello I have just watched your video you are really sharing a lot of great things. I am your new friend
Hello, welcome! I am so glad you enjoyed the video! 😊
Wow. Great.sharing Majoy Kaloy's Isto 2
Thank you 🙏
Hi Ali, how are your seeds coming on? I can't remember seeing your chilli's or aubergines last season, do you grow them in your polytunnel or are your summer's warm enough to plant outside? Have you resown your onions yet? You had so much on that table and it's only January 😂 Take care 😍
I didn’t do eggplant last year 🤣 because we don’t eat them. The hot chillies will go to my daughter but I’ll use the milder ones. I have some onions 🧅 that I will concentrate on making the cut 🤦♀️. I don’t remember ever having so many issues with seedlings 🌱 but alas that’s gardening 👩🏻🌾
@ do you think it’s the compost? Mine are not thriving at the moment, the onions are ok but my mustard, lettuce and spinach are not doing anything and they are under grow lights 🤷♀️
@ you know I never thought of that perhaps I’ll try another brand of compost and seed
U sold us on the chili, keep growing ❤
Thank you, I will 🙏
Hello watching from Kenya I have subscribe to your channel my dear 😘😘 friend be blessed ❤️

@@maisaovlog2632 oh sorry 😞
Interested to see how the garlic turns out, when planted all together like that.
@@moorsidegardener a fun experiment 🔬
Need to sow my chilli’s but waiting until I have the Polytunnel. Great choices 😊
I just hope I don’t kill them all before they are big enough to go in the poly 🤣. Have a fab day Ems look forward to more updates on your poly build 👍👍
@ Nah you wont kill them. You love them too much. Plus your a pro
Crazy but great, just watching nature doing what it does!
Couldn't agree more Iz they’re very cool 😎
Hi Ali happy new year. Lots being planted. 😊 i got a root trainer today so hoping to plant something soon.
Happy New Year Jane and clan 💕. I think 🤔 I’ve been good so far not getting carried away but never say never 🤣🤣
@myrustygarden 😆 🤣 you've got the passion and space so it's all good. 😀
looking forward to the chillies! keep us posted
Will do Dipak if there’s anything you want to try let me know 👍
@@myrustygarden i dont mind something that worked quite well for ya, just a seed or two 🙂
@RawLondonGardener I’ll message you on insta for your address 👍
Happy new year Ali.i have been sowing a few flower seed too.(lissianthus and lavender) i started early since they took long to germinate ans grow.
Happy New Year Faye and family ❤️. I got out my flower seeds yesterday 😂 I just have to sort them all
@myrustygarden that's good.❤🤗
Ooh its great to experiment and see what works best 😊
Thank you! Cheers Tahira it’s always good to add something silly in the growing process 🤣
Chit, soak, soil!! 🤣🤣 You’re so well organised Ali! I’m going to have to take a leaf out of your book! X
Oh I don’t know about organized 🤣 Gerald says it’s my ocd I need to be doing something crazy or not.
I can’t even find my table 😂 brilliant. Great idea trying different methods for germination, be interesting to see if there’s any difference. Take care, Pete.
Thanks Pete table MIA still but soon enough it will all be out in the greenhouse 🤣. I think I should have started chit first but hopefully it will be ready in a day or so to plant 👍
Happy New Years Ali...Nice selection of seeds to plant, love all the egg plants and peppers. Can't wait to hear more about the chilli challenge. Have a great weekend.
Happy New Year to you and yours Ms Ursula 🥰, I’m already thinking about how I’ll be using all those eggplants as we never really ate them before except as a dip 🤣
Very excited to try that patchwork variety you sent. The garlic will be lovely "SPRING GARLIC". Man you have a lot of eggplant on the go.
What’s funny is I don’t know what I’ll do with them. I love baba gnosh so perhaps there’s hope for me 😂😂
I like the poor man's tip, putting the seeds on top of the fridge. Why'd I never thought of that? Happy New Year Ali. Love the cheeky racoon. 🦝😊
@@wildlifegardener-tracey6206 it’s quite warm on top of the fridge so it’s a nice out of the way place. I just have to remember they’re up there 🤣🤣
Hi Ali, good luck with all the challenges you are doing.
Thanks Ady I think there a lot to keep track of 🤣 I’ve had to make a list 🤦♀️
I have a murder come through my area daily. I'd love to start a friendship with them, exchanging food and gifts, but the other residents in the apartment complex might not like it 😂
🤣🤣 there’s a man down the road that feeds all the crows and seagulls. His neighbors aren’t happy as they sit on their roofs waiting for him and there’s poop everywhere 🤦♀️. At least these ones don’t stay around all day 👍
@@myrustygardenAnother good reason not to try. Leave the seagulls at McDonald's, 100 yards away, on the other side of the fence. Ahh city living
Hi Ali. Your garlic can't wait to grow. Don't forget if they are outside, they could potentially split so I'd separate them to plant individually. Christmas is a busy time for all of us 😁. I've got to sow peppers. I need to buy some in. I've got to sort my seed out. I like your idea of three methods of chilli seed planting 👍. You nearly caught a critter lol. They must like the smell of the bait. They're hungry too 😂👍 Good luck with the chilli challenge. Take care Ali 🌱🥶👍🌶🌶🌶🍆🍆🫑🫑
I can’t believe how fast shoots and roots grew. It is hard to keep up with everything and I over do it with so many channels but I love it all and it will slow down (🤞🤞). Some of the peppers are thinking I’d germination but only the regular peppers 🫑. We actually had to block the traps so the raccoons don’t get hurt as we only want the rats in there. Have a fab week Elaine and Richard and all the little Joys 🥰
@myrustygarden Ali, take it easy. Yes there are loads of channels out there. You'll wear yourself out plus you have your own channel and garden. I have my firm favourites I watch but I can't watch everything as much as I'd like to.
I have to try this with the garlic as well. There are some cloves sitting in the kitchen that I can just put into water. Good luck with your chillis 🌶🌶🌶
It was amazing how fast they got roots Heidi like in days 👍👍. Thank you we don’t usually eat hot chillies but a challenge gauntlet was thrown 🤣🤣. Have an amazing week
Good evening Ali. I’m glad I’m not the only person who’s dining room table looks like the local branch of the seed library. I’m a little late this year but it’s a long season so there’s no rush. I was thinking of trying the different methods of seed sowing for peppers to see if there is any difference. I tried chitting carrots and parsnips last year and there didn’t appear to be any difference, but it was a poor growing season anyway so no matter which method I used they wouldn’t have been great. This year, however will be fantastic for us all.
🤣🤣 it’s almost visible now, almost. I find it super easy to chit larger seed like squash and beans etc the peppers seem to be taking a bit longer. I should have started them first. I think it works well to check viability of seed instead of staring a pot of dirt 🫣
@ I’ve done my fair share of dirt staring ☹️
👍❤🥶🥶
💕🙏
I thought you'd been busy ☺ Garlic is doing well. Good luck with the Chillies. We don't eat enough of them to make it worthwhile growing them but we're doing a few sweet peppers. You'll be better off dividing the garlic and spacing at 6 inches, they've made good root growth already but they'll need the space to blub up 🙂 Hope you have a lovely week ☺☺🪴🪴
@@ziggyscoastandcountryside3773 ok I’ll see if I can find a spot for garlic. I wouldn’t normally grow chillies except for Jason’s challenge we don’t eat hot either 🤭
@@myrustygarden A pot each would be fine Ali, they just like a bit of room 🙂 I grew 5,000 of them until I got onion white rot 😬🪴
Hi Ali, Where's the table, Where's the table? So much going on ❤ I need to get my rear in gear❤ ❤Peggy❤ Watched twice!!!!
🤣🤣 I cleaned it mostly then added more 🤦♀️ I think I may find the table by June. Thank you Ms Peggy 💕💕
Soooo many chilli’s! I need to get on and start mine. I’ve only sown flowers so far. I hope you’re staying warm over there Ali 🥶😊
I have to go through my flowers next and see if any need cold to germinate. It’s been cold and foggy until today and today is gorgeous sunny 🌞 7c. Have a fab week looking forward to seeing your new allotment come to life Clare 💕
Hi Ali happy new year, it’s a great feeling starting the new year sowings, your doing amazing Ali 😊
Happy new year Tracy it’s so good to feel actively planning and sowing again 👍👍
Hey Ali 👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻 Please 🙏🏻 put the garlic in a pot how it is, it would be interesting to see how it goes...😊 I loooove experiment's 🤞🏻 Habanada, or habanara,, are they pepper or chillies 🤔 . I I write my comments as I watch and can't be arsed to take the beginning off😂 Have a good one my friend...😊🐮🐮🐮
Garlics in a pot now 👍. Habanada I hope they grow well they look good on the package 🤣. I have now taken to making a notepad comment and adding at the end 🤭🤭 I wrote a novel once someone’s channel once and deleted by accident 🤦♀️
@myrustygarden I am in the belief the the " nada" part of the word mean " no" or " not" meaning they are not hot! You can also get nadapino's = jalapeños with no heat.. a youtuber called " living tradition homestead " grows them..
Raven and crows are social able creatures . See this all the time
They are definitely and interesting create and we have loads of them to entertain us 👍👍
Love all the varieties of seeds you try, they are great inspirations for us all.
I love a good seed package 🤭 but every year I say I’m going to do less and then someone has a challenge 🤦♀️
Another lovely challenge Ali! Lots of varieties there. Will you be growing them in the porch greenhouse area? I like the idea of testing all 3 methods. Our chilli's pepper haven't germinated yet. Tbh, i haven't been paying much attention to them and the other things i have sowed just yet as been catching up on stuff. Was really cold here and about -7.5c below av temps for the time of year! Got to -6c here and was beginning to worry about not covering the beds so i stuck some old net curtains down on the beds. Apparently, it has been the coldest January for 15 years, which sounds about right as last proper snow here in London. No snow here yet though, despite it trying. Hope you and Gerald are well? Take care. x
I’m hoping the peppers and chillies can grow nicely in the greenhouse as it’s quite warm in there come summer. I have a new irrigation system I’m going to use 🤞🤞 as well. No action yet on the seeds but the chit ones will take a few days, if I’d have thought about it I should have done them a few days ahead. Your weather sounds like ours last Jan when it hit minus 14 but other than cold dam foggy days it’s been fairly mild here. Good bad and ugly though as if it’s too mild it won’t kill off slug eggs etc. Have a fab week ahead stay warm and spring will be here soon 🙏🙏
Happy new year dearest Ali and Gerald See your off and running with your seed sowing and experiments, wonderful to watch and follow.
Happy new year my lovelies 💕. Oh I love a good challenge and experiment or there’d be no funny jokes at the end. Hope your all well and staying warm over there 😘
Hey Ali, looking forward to seeing how your experiment turns out. I haven't started sowing anything yet, don't start till Feb! Happy sowing.🌱🌱🌱🌱
🤣🤣 I wouldn’t be either Sharon but people will throw down the challenge gauntlet. I’m hoping I can just do some flower seed sorting and direct sow some of those next.
@@myrustygarden Glad you said that, was beginning to feel like I was falling behind - everyone seems to have started so early this year!
Hi Ali, seed sorting is on my to do list. Good luck with the chille challenge. Looking forward to seeing the results
Next I have to sit and go through the flowers Art and that will be a big job because some need direct outside now while it’s cold and some in starters 🤦♀️ so many things on the list 🤣🤣
Hi Ali I need to go through my seeds to see what I need to buy but I'm not organised yet 🤣. Good experiment with the seeds looking forward to the results.👌🙏👍😁❤️
Seed sorting for flowers is next on the list and what I need to cold stratify. Let me know if you need anything cous and I’ll pop it over 👍👍
Happy New Year Canada!!! 🇨🇦 Your getting well organised Ali, I look forward to seeing the garden you create this year , Steve and what you grow! 💚
Happy new year Steve and family here’s to a fantastic season ahead with less slugs more sun and happy days 👍👍
Hey Ali, great video. Glad you recieved the seeds i am looking forward to seeing how your experiment goes ( soak, chit, sow) The garlic looks really healthy, 🥰
I will definitely keep everyone posted to see if it makes any difference. I was just saying to Mark my nan wouldn’t have even known what a seed tray or grow light was but she grew exceptionally well. But then I doubt she entered a chilli challenge either 🤣🤣🤣
@myrustygarden 🥰
My Bell peppers are just through the compost. I'm hanging on to sow any more stuff as I just don't have the space once they need pricking out.
I’m hoping mine do well this year, last year I started them late and then funny enough it got so hot the flowers all dropped and we got very few fruits 🙏🙏. They will be split between me sis in law and my daughter so hopefully not too many 🤣🤣
Ali hello .good idea soak chit and sow I am interested to see the difference if any 😂🌱I still have some beans you sent last year so I will be sowing them soon ,I have a video out soon for a tomato grow along of some rare and unusual varieties ,If you want to join in I will send some seeds 🌱👍🇬🇧
I find that a lot of the “myth or theory” are just the entertainment factor tubers add on. My nana grew loads and never once was there a seed tray or grow light in the mix. But it is part of the fun so I’ll keep everyone posted. Ok let me know what they are and I’ll try of course 🤣🤣 she says right after saying I’m growing less tomatoes
@ I will post some out to you Ali 🌱👍🍅 watch the video it will give you all the info you need 🌱👍👍
Love your experiments, Ali.
Thanks Patsy let’s see if we can do some myth busting 👍👍
Looking forward to see which method germinates first 😬 Thank you for sharing Ali 🫶👩🌾👨🏾🌾
I should have started the chit ones first as they may take a few days but soak and soil are done as of yesterday 👍. Hope your all well and keeping warm 💕💕
Wow!! Will you sow all those peppers?! If that were me I'd end up not knowing which variety was which! 😂 can't wait to see them all grow and see the different types mature! Great update! ❤
🤣🤣 against my better judgement probably. But some will be given away to sis in law and daughter (she says hopefully). I am trying hard to keep better track than last years ok let’s see what they are when they get fruits 🤦♀️. Have a fab week Jenny and anything you see you’d like to try let me know 👍👍
Love to see how that garlic pans out! I love King of the North so they’ll be on the go soon. Pepper experiment sounds interesting! 😊 have a great week, Pammie x
I was shocked by how fast the roots grew it was like 2 or 3 days. Maybe that’s the trick next year 🤔 instead of starter trays. Peppers 🫑 and 🌶️ are on the go so let’s hope they all do well. Have a super week Pammie stay warm 💕
Happy new year, I hope you had a lovely time. Lots of seed starting going on, I’ve mad a wee start too with some lobelia and pansies and pompom daisies. It’s an exciting time. Good luck with your chilli challenge. I love how the garlic has rooted, I think I’m going to try that, looks fun. I haven’t had any success with garlic so who knows, this might be the way to go. 😊
Happy New Year to you and the family I hope you had a lovely break. I have yet to sort my flower seed but I need to get going in case any need cold stratification or direct sowing. I was just saying to someone else this may be the easiest and definitely faster way to start off garlic 🧄. Have a fab week and stay warm over there 🙏
