I had traditional, sister and I’m currently starting my microloc journey. One thing that I absolutely loved about my loc journey is that it almost gave me incentive to take care of myself more. I know it sounds weird but tbh I think it was because I wanted my hair to grow long and healthy and my sister locks consultant DWELLED on the fact that your hair in most cases is a reflection of you on the inside. Take care of yourself and your hair will grow type deal. Idk if I was brainwashed or if it was a real thing but ended up getting in the gym, I lost weight, I was pressed to sweat lol in my mind the sweat was helping my hair grow I guess, I started taking vitamins like.. I was doing the thing and my hair really was flourishing. My loc journeys were and have been more than just a hairstyle to me. It was like I morphed lol my body looks different my skin looks different and lowkey my whole mindset was different. It’s not the gospel or anything but it was pivotal for sure.

I heard rosemary oil helps with hair stimulation.

Have you ever considered washing your hair once or more times a week? Now that you have locs, the process wouldn't be long. Your hair would be moisturized and wouldn't tangle. I don't have tangling or dryness or breakouts caused by the hair on my face. I work out, too. I have 4B DIY 2-strand twist microlocs (no interlocking). As of this year, I use conditioner, as well. I'm on year 3. I spray my hair daily with rose water (I soak rose petals in water) enhanced with drops of various essential oils and rosemary herb. People say the balls at the end are a normal stage in the maturation process and they shouldn't be removed, but I don't get those balls, IDK.🤷🏾‍♀️

Hey sis tmi but didn’t you mention you were getting off birth control? The acne and hair thinning could be from the hormonal imbalances until your body adjust

Right now I'm using the ordinary salicylic anhydrous solution for acne - I have hormonal acne in my 40s 😭 so maybe you can look into getting that for your acne too!

Great video I'm on my 11th month. I was wetting my hair daily then I realized it was drying and feeling crunchy so I only wet my hair every other day. I thought I needed oil but my loctition said no oil. She put some pumpkin seed on it only after a retie. In the first 4 months I was getting a retie every 4 weeks, now she's doing it every 6 weeks because it's growing really fast and she wants the roots to stay more thicker. I started with it at my ears now it's shoulder length with a cut done just recently because I want it to thicken up more than the length. Thanks for your tip on braidouts because I was definitely doing that and seeing as it mature was getting skinny. Keep these coming the info is really keeping me encouraged because I was so ready to give up. I had to switch to a different loctition because the one that started my journey seemed like she didn't care. My new tech is god given she understood my pain and somewhat correct the damage that was done over the last 10 months.

Interlocking definitely cause locs to become compromised. I had to combine a few as well but switching to retwisting has saved them. I do understand that some may have locs that are too small though

how tall are you and how much weigh such a beautiful woman like you?

I will be at 3 years in October and have gone through a few different phases. I got pregnant with my second daughter 7 months into my loc journey. So I experienced extra thickness from prenatal vitamins. Then an extreme caution because of postpartum shedding where I did absolutely no styling. My daughter is now 18 months and I really just started pulling my hair up into a bun. My hair is armpit length just for context. I still take it out of the bun as soon as I in for the day and make sure it is loose when it goes up. I wear my bonnet around the house to make sure she is laying on my hair.

Hiiii! I’m two and a half years in . I agree with all you said especially about them getting thinner and the need/ desire to combine locks. I ‘ve done the same to twist two together because I didn’t want them to break before my next retie. I still don’t regret the decision to lock. Love my hair! Yours is looking amazing too!
