“Single Stage Press Reloading is TOO SLOW!”.... or is it?
Просмотров 8162 года назад
Well, I’m sold, in fact, I think this is the same annealer Jaegerz999 uses
My Intellidropper constantly drifts by a couple tenths of a grain, why? It drifted a full grain when I left it unattended for a few hours. Does anyone else have this experience or know how to keep it from drifting. BTW, there are no wind currents in my reloading area that would cause the scale to drift.
So just wondering. When you pour the powder in the hopper. How many charges do you run off to get the powder to settle before you start taking weights for consistency?
I think I was throwing around 20 or more charges before beginning the test
That case holder id the deal
Nice job man good video! You helped me make my decision to buy the Ugly.
I ordered the RCBS after watching all your comparison videos. Thanks for offering these videos!
count me in also. great video!
I would think you want the flame in the middle of the shoulder rather then bottom.
With this type of machine you don't have to worry about melting rotating drums when you're doing short brass like 300 blackout or 221 fireball but the drawback is you have to load each one manually. I am going to make one.
When do we get a charge master lite vs new rcbs match master video?
It’s stainless steel and aluminum. You don’t need to run them again to put a sharpie mark on your brass. Just use the bottom hole and mark them (mainly for people who want to make sure they get their fire formed brass back) and do it while you’re annealing. If you’re hearing them to where the glow or heat gets as low as the bottom sharpie hole, you’re hearing your brass way too much. lol
1/2 the video is on the camera and pipe cleaner….wtf. It’s supposed to be a video on the scale.
Definitely made life easier. Your instructions were easy, especially pulling the strap through the keeper. The MAGPUL instructions, either the included or the RUclips instructions, are close to useless. Enjoyed your sense of humor also. Being a Yank but having lived for 35 years in Virginia, I found your accent was a bit of 'down home.'
Haha thanks so much, and thanks for watching!
I wonder how precise this would be with something like N150?
It’s been my experience that stick powders just don’t get along with very well with this type of powder measure. It’s just the law of physics haha
on your auto charge, has the powder drop tube ever unscrewed or backed itself out so it no longer dispenses? my brand new one appears to have just done that. not sure it's something you can put back yourself
I couldn’t tell you. I no longer own this unit. Hope you get it back up and running! I would call Hornady. They are usually pretty good about helping out.
mental gymnastics with these slings brother but THANKS again!
THANKS brother.... and you are RIGHT, the Magpul video version is clear as mud and yours is just CLEAR!
I have an AP, too. I had a similar issue. What I did was take the indexing divots on the plate and put a “comet trail” with a ball mill on a Dremel tool. It allowed a gradual slide into index and gets rid of the jarring.
Thanks for that! I’d love to see it!
@@stricklyreloading8494 I can make a video sometime next week.
Biggest part for me enjoying a progressive press is for processing my brass for competition. For loading, I’m not concerned about speed. Dandy little funnel holder you have there. That’s smart. I do mine with an old-style funnel with my brass on a tray and sear while my SuperTrickler makes the next round’s charge.
This is easily my favorite new relooading channel. Great tests and data!
Thanks so much! I would appreciate you subscribing to my channel if you haven’t already! Also, if you like music and guitar building, check out my other channel called Strickland String Instruments
Great review...thanks. I am now going to order one for my 45-70 and 45-120 brass.
Thank you so much for making this video! I came across it after viewing Magpul's official "instructional" video and I completely agree with your comments in the first part of your video about their version ^_^
Love my Ugly Annealer
This channel is quickly becoming one of my favorites. Subscribed!
Good video, short ,and to point. Good job.
Magpul should pay people for these instructions!
😭😭😭😭😭😭 why didn’t you weigh the overcharge before throwing it back!!!!!!
Excellent informative comparison. I use a chargemaster lite and back it up with a RCBS balance beam. Wish the CM was a tad faster. I find myself waiting for it to finish up. Also, I need to let the CM warm up. If not it the zero can wander a tenth or two. Agree that round count is unnecessary and about as useless as the strobe function on a flashlight.
you and I must be cut from the same cloth! I absolutely despise strobe flash lights haha. Thanks for watching!
For pistol calibers especially, add the Hornady PDX powder tube (rcbs may offer a version, too). It replaces the lower powder drop tube and expanded the case mouth at the same time case is charged. There is also an external travel stop to add to the linkage for this. A bit fiddly to get set up initially, they work very well.
Good video...thanks for the help man!
Thanks for the reviews! I'm torn between this and the AGS 3.0. Which one do you like the best and why?
They are both nice machines. My advice would be if you weren’t doing high volume annealing (such as just doing your hunting ammo or whatnot) go with the AGS because it takes up so little room. The Ugly Annealer really shines when you need to anneal high volumes of brass like for competition shooting.
Thank you
Don't you worry about fps ?
as in velocity, or E.S.?
I use a RCBS 3 way trimmer it cost 1/8th the cost I have 7 sizes. when you size 10,000 at a time thats costly.
The exhaust clamp is genius! Where do I get that particular one you are using?
Excellent video! Thank you for showing both your results as well as how you tested. I've had nothing but problems with my Mark7 powder measure, which came with my Apex 10. This includes powder spillage as well. I stoppped using it, but maybe I'll clean it up and try it again. In your opinion, what is the best powder thrower you've measured?
Thank you for posting this video. Good thinking on the pip cleaner idea and a few other tricks you showed. Invaluable info for new reloaders. 👍
OCD?
I use the Lee drum with Hodgdon HP-38 and CFE pistol(both small ball powders) running 3-6 grains and it stays consistent from start and check after every 20-30 throws to +/- 0.02 grains, Nice to see further validation! And no leaking. On their website they have an upgrade package that includes the old hopper and improved riser, FYI.
Very cool! Thanks for that info! I’ll have to check them out!
Great video
I do pretty much the same thing though the difference is I use scoops for manual charges which is painful…. I haven’t made a decision yet on which powder dispenser to go with yet.. just can’t swallow the Fx-120 cost. If you did this process with the Hornady auto charge pro or rcbs Chargemaster do you think it would be similar speed? It seems like when you dump your powder the charge was ready and waiting for you, so it doesn’t seem like powder drops are the bottleneck, at least with the AT system that is.
You most certainly could use a charge master or similar and accomplish the same thing. You are correct that it will probably slow you down about 10-15 seconds per round (from my experience with other dispenser systems vs the AutoTrickler). I would recommend trying the new ChargeMaster Supreme, as it has the “powder learning” feature that may help speed up the time.
Great test and data collection. Excellent video. I'd love to see a test like this done on the Redding 3BRK.
I wanted to test the Redding measures, but I wasn’t sure if they could be rigged up in a way to be case activated, and used on a progressive press?
You are eventually going to knock over that powder container …..it’s inevitable. At least get it away from the edge of bench. Better yet, get an ultra clean mason jar and use that instead. Put a lid on that expensive powder!
It’s actually more than half full of powder, so it’s pretty solid haha. Thanks for watching!
I've only experienced my intellidropper and heard the greeny is slower
My fa is much faster than that
What year do you think yours is? Think they modified them a bit since the making of this video? Also, what powder are you using? Thanks for watching!
The powder calibration measures the density of the powder
Love it! Just bought the scale. Great idea with the pipe cleaners! I am just using my phone camera.
Great video, thanks!
What program are you using on your laptop
it's Google Sheets. A free online spreadsheet program very similar to Excel. I set up the formulas and such to make it do what I needed it to. Spreadsheets are awesome tools for many things!
@@stricklyreloading8494 Thanks, how are you getting it to show SD & ES
@@andypitchford9357 you enter formulas to make it do that. I think I made a video on using spreadsheets for reloading. Check it out, and if I didn’t show how to do that there, I will assist you further!

I started marking the powder charge on each case after I dumped a box of 30 test loads. Had to pull the bullets and start over 😠
we've all been there. unfortunately, that's getting to be a more and more expensive process these days!
