As mentioned in my earlier comment on your day 1 trip; myself had covered the entire stretch of 2000 kms from Mumbai (then known as Bombay) to Kolkata (the known as Calcutta), some 32 years ago. Anyway, that's a very old story. Things & even our lives have changed drastically, since then. But, I have traversed this same stretch from Sambalpur to Kolkata, SEVERAL, times during the last 4 years, on the NH 6. Excepting a few patches through the forest areas, the entire 4 lane stretch is in EXCELLENT condition. The total distance is around 560 km. 500 km is straight 4 lane stretch, with a few diversions. 50 km stretch is also in a good condition, but just 2 lane. Maybe, around 10 km stretch, at most, is rather off roading, ridden with potholes, at places. But, this is very much doable. Last done this trip, using this route via NH 6, just 6 months ago, in a Maruti Brezza, in less than 12 hours. I appreciate & admire your spirit of adventure & endurance. But, DON'T be guided by rumours. We have experienced far far worse conditions in those days.
My heartiest congratulations! Myself had done the very same trip on Premier Padmini car, some 32 years ago. Wayback in the year 1992, something unheard of, in those days. Advancement in the field of communication & information technology, have revolutionised our lives, no doubt. But, had not been, the dramatic improvement of the highway infrastructure, during the last 25 years; these cross country trips, were considered impossible. There was no such expressway in those days. Followed the NH 3 & then NH 6. (OLD NOS.)
Great to know you had done this trip when we had probably just been born! Our parents also said the same thing that roads have improved by a large extent, which has allowed us to even have the courage to plan such a trip! We will upload plenty more videos of our journey. Hope you like them also :)

Sorry for the late response but we faced absolutely no issues while crossing so many state borders. But just make sure all your paperwork is in order when travelling such long distances.

For fellow travellers, please note. I just traveled To Durgapur, W. B yesterday through GT Road. Worst situation, specially in Jharkhand. After hajaribag the road is beautiful. In jharkhand it's worst. No cleanliness, people have no commonsense. From Chandouli till a portion of Hazaribagh work is going on G T road. From Chandouli till certain Kilometres you may not get Petrol. Many pumps jave diesel only.

I used to travel from pune to jamshedpur through the same route.
those who cross kanjipani ghati and bangriposi ghaati are the real drivers..................... that route is short as well
We consciously didn't take that route since the road conditions at Jashipur are really bad, as pointed out by many people. Our idea was to enjoy the drive rather than just reach from point A to point B and showcase our driving skills 😀

If you see the video carefully you will notice that we didn't go via Deogarh to Kolkata. We had taken a different route altogether. Plus, this video covers the journey from Nagpur to Sambalpur, and Deogarh comes after Sambalpur when travelling towards Kolkata. We feel bad that you didn't like the videography. However, would love to see some of your samples to do better the next time. 😀

The work on Bihar stretch has been going on for years and the diversions are a pain. How much time did it take you guys to cross Kolkata and enter into Jharkhand?
It took us 5hrs to reach Jharkhand.

Hi, we wanted to visit Varanasi actually therefore we took this route. Kolkata to Mumbai via Sambalpur is the shortest route otherwise.

Nice bro. Not sure about sedan cars but Compact SUVs and above segments performed awesome, no bumps felt. I used to travel in this highway in every 3-4 months and travelled by Nexon and Creta.
Not sure about whether the problem is only with sedans as I have heard from other people who have driven their SUVs in Samruddhi, especially the new stretch between Ghoti & Shirdi exit, who have complained about the unevenness and bumps in some patches. Nevertheless, the expressway was a great boon for us to cover such a large distance in a short period of time.

Hi First time watching your video I have been travelling both by road and by train. The roads in Bihar as observed by me ,are the worst. It's not the fund but misgovernance is the reason behind it. One must drive in Uttar Pradesh - total transformation under the able guidance of yogiji. Another is Gujrat and Rajasthan.In Rajasthan ,it's an experience to drive on NH 11 ninety degree perpendicular straight, length around 850 Km. From New Delhi.///
In our journey from Mumbai to Kolkata, Varanasi, Jabalpur, Nagpur and then back to Mumbai, we found some of the best roads in Chattisgarh, Odisha, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and parts of Maharashtra and West Bengal. Rest of the places there is a lot of road widening work currently underway. Really hope that the construction work gets completed soon at these places as it is quite a challenge to maneuver through the diversions / pot holes in the highway. We will surely visit the roads of Gujarat and Rajasthan and post our experiences here. Do watch the other videos on our channel to see the current road conditions in the above mentioned states.
