- We continue our cross-country roadtrip journey. This time we travel from Kolkata to the holy city of Varanasi. We mainly followed the GT road but there were several diversions along the way as there is a lot of road widening work happening. Do watch the full video to get a good idea about the road conditions.
We covered a total distance of 687 kms in approx 15 hrs.
Total Toll cost: Rs 870
Total Petrol consumption: ~45 litres

For fellow travellers, please note. I just traveled To Durgapur, W. B yesterday through GT Road. Worst situation, specially in Jharkhand. After hajaribag the road is beautiful. In jharkhand it's worst. No cleanliness, people have no commonsense. From Chandouli till a portion of Hazaribagh work is going on G T road. From Chandouli till certain Kilometres you may not get Petrol. Many pumps jave diesel only.

First time watching your video
I have been travelling both by road and by train.
The roads in Bihar as observed by me ,are the worst. It's not the fund but misgovernance is the reason behind it.
One must drive in Uttar Pradesh - total transformation under the able guidance of yogiji. Another is Gujrat and Rajasthan.In Rajasthan ,it's an experience to drive on NH 11 ninety degree perpendicular straight, length around 850 Km.

In our journey from Mumbai to Kolkata, Varanasi, Jabalpur, Nagpur and then back to Mumbai, we found some of the best roads in Chattisgarh, Odisha, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and parts of Maharashtra and West Bengal. Rest of the places there is a lot of road widening work currently underway. Really hope that the construction work gets completed soon at these places as it is quite a challenge to maneuver through the diversions / pot holes in the highway.
We will surely visit the roads of Gujarat and Rajasthan and post our experiences here.

Hi, we wanted to visit Varanasi actually therefore we took this route. Kolkata to Mumbai via Sambalpur is the shortest route otherwise.
ASANSOL SE KOLKATA TAK ROAD THIK HUA HAI KYA. MAIN JAB DUSSERA MEI HARIDWAR SE GYA THA TAB ROAD EXTENSION KA KAAM CHAL RAHA THA
Pura nahi..till Panagarh the road is good but after that there is a lot of road work happening with diversions every now and then.
The work on Bihar stretch has been going on for years and the diversions are a pain. How much time did it take you guys to cross Kolkata and enter into Jharkhand?
It took us 5hrs to reach Jharkhand.
