    Man I remember those days, I wrapped up the title in the front row of the little bikes that morning and loved the track, so decided to line up in the unlimited class and race again, it’s a KX 100 built to a 112 and I still have that bike in my garage, I won 2 National titles and 3 of 4 local titles on that same bike and setup

    Big bore bikes trying to negotiate real fast , quick tight turns on a track like that is nuts. Ever try leaning a Segway over? I ride a 500 an there is way to much rotating MASS to lean into the corners. Way to much work.

    I own the KX, a few buddies of mine are who own the CR. My 99 250 frame was bare metal for years longer than the particular person who owns the CR5, this is pre-rusted out frame (and it's a shelf queen). Same goes for my 500 frame. That is why I feel there is basis for debate. But as mentioned, I was going off of numbers released from the manufacturers as opposed to individual dyno runs. I take no offense, thanks for the concern. Idk if I come off hard headed, just try to be as clear as I can.

    The Kawasaki dampers that are like 20 bucks a piece? lol Yeah, you tend to run through at least one in the front a year and every other to every 3 years I replaced the damper mounts nearest the tank. Comes with being a 2 stroke big bore I suppose. I'm trying to have polyurethane damper mounts made.

  • @91lxstang
    @91lxstang 12 лет назад

    When I say mounts. I am talking about the rubber mounts that attach to the frame and have a stud run through the rubber.

  • @B0DYR0T
    @B0DYR0T 12 лет назад

    lucky. I run a pipe built from BiMotion software so the mounts are quite different from that of a commercially available pipe. All of the factory faults can be dealt with fairly easy, though I say junk the frame and drop the motor into a modernish chassis. Needless to say I'm still not a fan of the performance I've seen from the variety of years I've been on. The motor performs more like a 4t than a 2t, and makes nothing for power past like 4grand. The KX5 will rev to the moon.

    I've yet to stick a valve on my post-89 cylinder and I'm considering pinning my PVs wide open on my 87-88 cylinder. Most time people have problems it's lack of maintenance or they can't time them properly. Yes, I agree aftermarket chambers are poorly built and require a gusset however the stock chamber is much more stout. I haven't seen a mount break on a stocker.. As for vibration, my KX5 vibrates less than my kx250 did has a Hotrods crank which was never balanced, it's possible I just got..

  • @91lxstang
    @91lxstang 12 лет назад

    Saying your freinds KX frame has lasted the test of time is no way to compare a bike. There are too many variables to even consider this as a plus for the KX. My KX frame looked like dog shit when I bought it. Had to sandblast it and repair a few welds. You cannot compare your friends bikes and argue with someone who actually OWNS both. As for the HP comment, I have seen different numbers for both bikes, the KX500 has far more stock dyno runs out that make more power than a CR.

  • @91lxstang
    @91lxstang 12 лет назад

    You say the kawi has piss poor plating from the factory, which it does. The KX also has KIPS. Yet another thing almost every KX500 owner has a problem with. Whether the pins are worn to an insane amount or the rod retracts too much and causes hard starting. KX500s also vibrate far more and always tosses hardware unless it is swapped for better stuff. They also break exhaust mounts like its part of its job. These are all of MY experiences with MY bikes.

  • @B0DYR0T
    @B0DYR0T 12 лет назад

    Keep in mind I'm not referring to varying dyno numbers but that generally accepted as the stock HP.

  • @B0DYR0T
    @B0DYR0T 12 лет назад

    Sounds like an article from the early 90s. It's a 1 horse difference and I believe you have it backwards, the CR puts out more not the KX. It's also common opinion that the KX5 was the best built big bore engine (going off big name engine builders) and common fact horsepower isn't everything. Reliability from factory yes, the CR has the KX only because of the piss poor plating Kaw did on the cylinder but I can tell now my 2 friends of the same year (88 KX and CR) the KX frame isn't rusted out.

  • @91lxstang
    @91lxstang 12 лет назад

    And don't take this as an aggressive argument against the KX. I love my KX. Just not the rear fender.

  • @91lxstang
    @91lxstang 12 лет назад

    Close to the same as in "performance". I did not say they were close to the same in how they get their power or how they go about suspension setups. In fact, most KX500's in stock form put out a few more HP than a CR. For you to say a CR doesn't hold a candle to a KX in any way is a bit ridiculous. The only thing I would say my KX is better at, is high speed stability because of the longer rake. The CR is far more reliable and that is a common opinion between many people who own both bikes.

  • @B0DYR0T
    @B0DYR0T 12 лет назад

    On my end it seemed like we were comparing anything worth comparing. I have enough access to a CR500 to spend as much time as wanted on one, that being said both KX and CR require a different riding style to each frame, much like the WR or YZ big bores. Also I have to disagree, it's not an opinion when porting/rod ratio/gearing is completely different. I mean you wouldn't say a Pug is almost a Wolf because it's part of the canine family would you?

  • @B0DYR0T
    @B0DYR0T 12 лет назад

    May handle better, but the frame geometry is still crap compared to a modern chassis. The power delivery on the CR is absolute crap (subjectively speaking of course). KX making the same HP and torque but has twice as tall gearing(mildly exaggerated). Though I have a hybrid KX5 in which I can assure you would stomp on CR regardless of terrain. I'm sorry but I have no love for the CR, to say they're even close to the same is preposterous.

  • @91lxstang
    @91lxstang 12 лет назад

    I have both and they are about the same. Cr handles better.

    @brapboys503 Wow... thanks for the Fast and the Furious flash back [rolls eyes]. No kidding. I highly doubt that NX, NOS, or any number of other N2O system manufacturers make a damn kit for a f'ing KX85 to begin with. THUS you would have to either build your own system, or modify an existing kit. Get off your damn high horse and enjoy the damn video. It would be too much to expect someone to be able to read sarcasm once in a while. Oh Wait, this is the internet... everything is serious.
