Just found this channel because of this video, but I just wanted to say that I really enjoyed 5, but the fact I could beat my second playthrough with only the welrod (yes, even the very final shot took a lot of trial and error)

Thanks so much for appreciating the sexworker representation! Its actually consistently one of my favorite little bits of the worlds in the AC games up to AC4 (where they kind of disappear afterwards afaik, they show up a bit in Unity if I remember but after that, gone. but i havent played syndicate), as someone w experience with IRL sexwork its really cool and rare to see them depicted casually but correctly and as you said, in a way that humanizes them. Usually the only media that gets this right is something where its like...a given, very rarely do sexworkers show up "incidentally" while not being very problematically depicted.

Am I lucky then to have antialiasing on to 4x and still get 60 frames? This is 72 hours in the first game with it on and I have had no problems oh and also if you didn't know in the first mission if the Germans see you as well as the tank they won't shoot you because you are wearing a German uniform

I know a fellow history autist would appreciate this, so I have to say that “white death” was not actually a contemporary soviet nickname for simo häyhä, it seems to have been instead a reference to particularly bad winter conditions. Häyhä was, however, nicknamed “magic shooter” by the finnish press, which is a pun on the finnish word for “sniper” (“accurate shooter”). “White death” as a nickname for simo häyhä didn’t really appear until the 1980s! Wild, eh?

The limited sightlines in se5 is mostly just because of the location. The bocage in France was compared to the cqb fighting in jungles. And in some cases I'm sure it was worse.

I love this game series. I have nerve damage in my hands so traditional shooters are harder for me to play. I love sneaking up on enemies, successfully getting trap kills, and getting out before anyone knows im there. These games are like crack to me

sniper elite 5 ended the series for me, they removed a shitload of features and put the most basic ww2 weapons behind paywalls. Fuck Sniper Elite.

I rage quit this video during the SE5 bashing, I played 5 first, than bought 4, I like 4 but I really miss all the refinements of 5 and the much more realistic photogrammetry based maps. Yes slightly less sniping... but more immersive believable maps with better variety of combat/stealth encounters, the AI is also both more tanky and more cowardly in SE4 so anything other than a head shot gets punished with the ai soldier running behind cover and hiding for 5 minutes. In SE5 IF they live from being shot through the chest/neck they slowly limp to cover and will occasionally blind fire or attempt to peek out to see where you are, they also can be incapacitated and other soldiers will attempt to pick them up move them to cover and give them first aid.

Thanks for all the SE analysis! Part of me wants to condemn SE5 for not delivering the pure sniping joy that playing SE4 gave me, but they did enough right that I enjoyed the game immensely. Invasion mode saved SE5.

I had a blast playing 5, as I did with the previous 4 games. Customization of weapons in 5 was awesome. I created a silenced sniper pistol that was quite satisfying.

The two "season passes" combined - even when they went on sale on Steam - still cost more then I'd pay for a full game. Users' reviews are also consistently negative. This is the first time Rebellion is forcing me to skip SE content and I won't forget it. Screw those greedy bastards.

Just got the game myself and played through most of it. My only pet peeve is what is the point of the disguise if you're just gonna get lit up by Germans anyway? Like it makes 0 sense to me. During the first mission, it stated you didn't have to worry about the Germans due to your disguise. But every mission that followed that was an entirely different story. Initially when I had to infiltrate the Reichstag, I thought maybe they were shooting me because they had orders to shoot any unauthorized personnel.

In all fairness, satchel charges are not mandatory to complete the primary objectives, there will always be at least one other option that usually doesn't even require tools. If you absolutely need them, they are almost always around the objective (even secondary ones, can't think of any exception, on top of all of the ones scattered around the map) and a quick look around in focus mode will reveal them (crowbars, bolt cutters and charges are highlighted in orange). Every other criticism is more than fair tho

I’m still mad over the fact that we didn’t get the M1 Garand in SE5. And instead we got the Pedersen rifle which hardly feels like a substitute since it offers only iron sights and mediocre stats across the board.

You didn’t include how any of these maps feel during invasions. Invasions on the DLC maps would’ve been fun if most of these DLC maps didn’t have the exfil take place at a single high point on maps like on Landing Force, Conquer, and Kraken Awakes. Anyone with knowledge on the map’s layouts and objective locations can simply camp each other out which makes invasions boring at that point. Target Hitler ain’t much better for invasions as cuz of that one tunnel that first time players need to go through in order to get to Hitler which becomes a bottleneck at that point. The only DLC map that is good for invasions is the Rough Landing DLC map as that one has various ways for completing each main objective and multiple exfil points for when you beat the mission.

Lots of people say things like: after playing the game for the fifth time and replaying Sniper elite 4, I can say SE4 is better. It’s like, bruh, if SE5 was bad, you wouldn’t have replayed it that much. SE 5 definitely has some problems, but it’s definitely a really good game overall. Also is the first game to implement invasion. Everybody loves it

Nubby has always been my favorite character. He's the reason I used to want to work on cars for a living. Sorta abandoned the idea as I got older.

one thing i hated about alot of the missions in sniper elite was that you HAD to go loud in order to complete a mission , which i somewhat hate because i try to avoid killing most enemies unless they are key targets like radio operators etc , killing everyone on the map feels unprofessional from a commando standpoint and overall meh , i get the same feel in most games where stealth is a big part of the gameplay a sabotage mission turns into a bloodbat which ends up feeling unsatisfying , and since i immediately went into sniper elite 4 on authentic plus without the hud basicaly it meant that enemy never stopped searching for me
