Assassin's Creed (2007) - The Start of Something Great (Retrospective)
Просмотров 1,4 тыс.2 года назад
A review-style analysis and retrospective of Assassin's Creed (2007) by Ubisoft. This retrospective contains spoilers for the whole game, and all of my thoughts are coming from 15 years of perspective on the Assassin’s Creed formula. We’ll start with a brief history of the game’s development, we’ll then analyse the story, gameplay and world-building that turned this game into a franchise and ha...
"Not a damn thing." I love your videos dude. It's like sitting on a couch and hearing your friend ramble about games and real life.
Sniper Elite 3 & Sniper Elite 4 are both Masterpiece
stealth in SE5 is bad but Sniper Elite 4 is the best sniper elite
I found using rocks as the best way to take out lights. This game franchise is so much fun to play and its a shame its short. 4 needed to be a bit longer.
No Smines no crouch running Limited *TSA* From my experience i say its *FAIR* 😢😤🤷🏿♂️
As someone who grew up when pong was a thing, its hard for me to be too critical of this game. The care to the environments is truly commendable. Its a beautiful game to just look at. I have spent an unhealthy amount of my life playing this and have minimal regrets.
Sniper Elite - 00:00 Sniper Elite V2 - 21:09 Sniper Elite 3 - 48:04 Sniper Elite 4 - 1:18:12 The boardgame? - 2:10:48 Sniper Elite 5 - 2:31:23 5’s DLC - 3:27:31
I enjoyed the 4th. The open level and stealth sniping is well designed. But the 3rd ans 2nd are pretty differents.
I wanna remake of sniper elite 1! Great game had some rough edges but awesome!
Amazing video champ
I bought this for pc when it came out was a awesome title! I do miss game manuels some were awesome! Diablo 1 and 2 had some sweet art work!
I was born in 2004 which meant I never got the chance to play Lego Island myself. However, I do feel a weird sense of nostalgia for it ever since I watched Brutalmoose's review on the game he made 12 years ago. Even as an adult, I would absolutely love to try this game out for myself on a modern pc.
Fun review. Rewatch every now and then because video's spirit is the same as the game: something familiar and entertaining with its own soul. And waiting dor the next video to drop 😉
I got this game for fathers day a couple of weeks ago, best gift ever from my kids (or wife). Some how i missed this game series so Sniper Elite 5 was my first. This game is perfect for me since I am now 41 years old and I do not like MP and fast gameplay anymore, but more games where you can plan ahead. Anyway, I just wan’t to give you a big thanks for the videoes and guides, I have subbed to your channel and looking now forward to Sniper Elite 6.
All of the jagers are fallschirmjager. Valkyrie jagers are just a fictional super-duper-elite version.
17:42 This is like the Target: Fuhrer mission in SE4. About 30% of the mission is outside a base, and the other 70% inside. If you are seen outside, the main entrance to the base is closed. If you are seen inside, the entire base is placed on high alert, and Hitler runs to escape on a boat next to the entrance. If you destroy the boat before he boards, he will instead retreat to a saferoom with guards.
I don't get this cellshaded look the remaster is going for. It looks like a TellTale game sometimes with all the thick outlines around everything.
Thank you for this insightful retrospective. I did 4,3,2 and 5. Three was the hardest and most frustrating. With V2 I have a real soft spot for. Love the missions and the environment. Not as open world as later games, I enjoy the linear progression.
I hope SE:Resistance is what 5 should have been. I like the more realistic take on game but i want more enemies to shoot in maps, sometimes they felt empty
Why the gameplay like a splinter cell blacklist movement 😂 this is ubisoft or rebellion dev?
That mini montage at 41:18 really got me 😆 Really appreciate the work, humor, and time you put into your video esaays!
"One P I do have a taste for - Presentation." That got a good chuckle out of me.
Oh man, this is a GREAT video!! Thanks for all your effort, what a trip. I still wonder tho what took LEGO so long to get into games. Definitely a good point about the crash, but then you had the NES revitalize the industry. By the 16 bit generation the industry was beyond solid, pretty sure even bigger than non-LEGO physical toys by then, and this didn’t come out till the 32/64 bit generation IIRC
Any update on the next video project? Really looking forward to the next upload!
On the G MY ninja 🎉
I'm glad someone's covering the entire franchise. I'm hoping for a 6th game featuring Karl but where do they go after Sniper Elite Resistance when we're playing as Harry?
This game never gets old. I wish there were more than 14 levels. Game has very atmospheric graphics.
2:06:52 oh no
Just realized what’s with the third game in a series going to the desert
Used to play this on Ps2 back in the day. Had a great online community. Miss those days
SE5 gets so much undeserved hate
The reason I don't like it as much is because they took out the trip mines and s mines in the campaign.
Ive played the 1st game along with the 3rd 4th and 5th game. I absolutely love these games. As I was watching this video, I thought back to other games involving sniping. And now I want a video like this on sniper ghost warrior games. ❤
(PPSH) smg - "The go-to tool when you want to shoot 30 rounds into someone as a warning shot....hahahaha...I'm DEAD!..haha.
3:50:53 now I just want a video of you pointing out every typo
I bought it for the Axis Invasion mode, since I found the campaign worse than the fourth installment. In LATAM, the Axis Invasion game is in less than 5 seconds
Oh nice! Yeah LATAM is what I found myself bouncing to when the NA servers were iffy
@@Analog_Nightmare What a shame, it's really a cool mod
Would you be willing to do some biowsre games? I really enjoyed this one and the assassin creed ones!
Yeah! I was going to hold off on doing KOTOR since the remake was coming out, but seeing as that's not likely anytime soon I don't see why I couldn't look at them sooner. Any in particular?
@@Analog_Nightmare I mean I love the mass effect series the best but any of them honestly, dare I say all?? 😂 KOTOR would be awesome too!! My sister is really not into video games at all and she got sucked into watching your videos with me 😂
Oh that's awesome! I started making videos specifically because of doing exactly that, getting sucked into video essays, retrospectives and documentaries on YT, especially ones I wanted to share with friends and my family. Very cool to hear I get to be that for someone else!!
Since we are pointing out mistakes: the word is "foliage," not "foilage."
And I'll never take that advice for granite.
Awesome video, just finished watching the whole things, keep up the good work
Thank you for this video. What bothers me with Rebellion is that they become more and more greedy and lazy. It just baffles me that Sniper Elite Resistance will keep using the same engine, animations and overall graphics that have been used since Sniper Elite V2 (just barely improved). Yeah the levels became and more complex throughout the games but not making an effort on the rest is pure greediness, and that was also why I didn't buy Sniper Elite 5 day one and waited for the price to drop.
I just redownloaded 3 and 4 off a steam sale last month, and was looking for some hyper fixation content for my favorite niche franchise, and happily stumbled upon this. 4 hours of a game I've been playing since 2013 when I managed to find V2 on sale at GameStop for ten bucks, and it's well made? Yes please!
Overall I LOVE the SE series. 2 complaints about 5, blowing AA guns every other level gets boring. I'm supposed to be a SNIPER, not a sapper...AND removal of anti-personel mines because Rebellion suddenly decided they were objectionable in a war game (hopefully, the "non-lethal" nonsense won't be in the next game..
Nah they nerfed his mug face💀
its the best in the series :P
What's your thoughts on the Complete Edition?
sniper elite 3 is a masterpiece
As a child, the major appeal of this game for me and the thing that still makes it stand out to this day from the subsequent games in this series was the atmosphere and ambience. The music and environment, with the screams of unseen civilians, explosions and missiles being fired in the background was truly discomforting for eight year old me. This game depicts war as it's supposed to be. In fact, it felt almost like a horror game at times for me in some of the more intense sections where you can hear the creepy action music with the shouts of enemy soldiers in languages you can't understand. Fighting the tanks was legit horrifying because they truly look like gigantic monsters with roaring engines from your lone infantry perspective. The other fascinating thing was how you can injure enemies and hear them scream in pain for help, and what made it even more fascinating was how you can turn that into a trap because their comrades will actually try to carry them to safety, giving you a chance to kill them, too. Enemy snipers in this game, although they were awful because they almost never landed a hit on me, were still very creepy because of how sneakily they fire at you and you gotta look around at all vantage points to spot them. That sniper on the Brandenburg Gate was especially eerie. On top of that, keeping with the historical accuracy, there are also Soviet female snipers near the end of the game, who caught me off guard when I first encountered them. The very main menu theme of this game is literally the darkest and gritiest sounding one in the series and it's basically what WW2 sounds like to me. The newer games in the series completely lack this A+ WW2 atmosphere and grit and have replaced it entirely with a Hollywood depiction of the conflict and X-ray nut shots. They don't take the war seriously like this game. Gameplay wise, the newer games are absolutely superior, though.
I was aware of these games but never seemed to pick one of them up and give them! I was browsing the PS Plus catalogue and saw it on there and decided to give it a shot, and god damn this game is really good. I’m about halfway through the campaign and I’m loving every minute of it!
The official name on Steam should be "Sniper Elite v2 REFUNDED" 😀 (That's what I did anyway). I remember they kind of alluded to it being a rebuild using the SE4 engine, and of course it was just a cash grab reskin.
I'm sitting here with 2 tabs open. One with your review of SE4 (which I know is awesome, but i've 100%'d years ago), and here, SE5 (which I uninstalled unfinished 2 years ago because it wasn't as good as SE4). Which one to reinstall ? Watching this review reminded me of all the reasons I disliked 5....... Just watched your 4 review. It's gotta be 4 hasn't it. Use WeMod, give myself infinite mines etc, and go have some sandbox fun. Thanks for your existential assistance in coming to this decision. 🙂
What the hell?? As someone who has the original CD-ROM on his shelf right now, I completely forgot you could play as characters other than Pepper! And the PIZAZ sign is a crazy detail, I wonder if I ever got that as a kid
