    Nice program, and good analogy. At the turn of the century horses were the primary mover for transportation, and they legitimately could say that horses had literally hundreds (thousands) of years as a proven, established, reliable, and commonplace resource for transportation and industry. But as internal combustion engined vehicles evolved, and gasoline became more commonplace, gas prices dropped, and gas powered vehicles simply became better and more convenient than horses for most people. Similarly, EVs are evolving to be more efficient, more affordable, cleaner, quicker, quieter, more comfortable and more reliable. And with the Aptera, future EVs will be lighter, simpler, and far more efficient. Especially with solar assist reducing the need to recharge.

    Can't wait to get my Aptera sitting in my driveway. My cash investments are significant amounts of money to me, but with the transparency of the company's management and engineering team plus the fact that the PI builds are not only underway, but have already been paid for in full, once the validation testing and marketing tours are underway and/or completed then the capital raise through the convertible notes will likely be completed or nearly completed. One financial expert friend of mine actually suggested to me that the target raise will be oversold by a significant amount with impending economic news here in the U.S. In any event, my delivery date is still H1 2025 and Aptera assures me that they are still on target for that.

    Own an EV - it's a smart phone you drive. Nobody has wall phones anymore, or flip phones even. Is the aptera gonna sell? I doubt it. Sure, some will buy, but it's vaporware from my perspective...keeps getting redesigned and not coming out. It's a MOTORCYCLE, at least in my state. Need a different license to drive it. It's weird - look at how the cybertruck is being received. I'm interested...but i'm also gonna wait to see how it goes...if it ever goes. with phones, apple went from nothing to a new idea and the king since. Tesla holds that spot with EVs. Model Y is best selling vehicle worldwide...sound like iPhones? And i remember many phone companies - blackberry, nokia, motorola, even the google phone that are now all gone. Car companies may likely follow to a large degree.

    Healthy scepticism is always good, especially when it involves money. The Aptera is not yet ready. BEVs are barely ready, but getting better, with poor infrastructure and battery degradation. Without scepticism we'd ALWAYS be chasing new shiny unproven tech. Let's be open to new tech AND examine the pros/cons long term.

    Your angle was useless because it didn't justify the Aptera in any way. I own a BEV and have done for more than a year, and am not the sort of person to spread FUD about EV's, but the Aptera has a lot to fear, be uncertain about and doubt. Just because some in the past have spread FUD about something doesn't mean it's wrong to alert people to someting else in the present or near future. That's illogical, but it's the premise you infer. With Aptera, you can fear death in accidents with those massive pickups you have so many of on US roads (just one example to fear). More so than in another pickup, at least. With Aptera, you can be uncertain it will get you ten miles without overheating (just one example of many). Dozens of current EV choices don't have that uncertainty. My EV has done 40,000 kms without ever overheating, but not all at once. I have done 320 kms in one stretch on hot Summer days a number of times. With Aptera, you can doubt you're ever going to get one because it hinges on not folding like last time (just one example). Not getting the funds and not making the PI's gives plenty of reason to doubt, besides many other factors. You may as well kiss your money goodbye now. Besides all that, the premise that solar on a moving vehicle is needed is unfounded. I charge from my house roof solar, and on the odd occasion where I am too far away I can still charge from a charging station. I don't ever need to generate my own solar on the move. The science doesn't support it right now, and I don't mind admitting that in the distant future it might, but intelligence says order an EV when it does, and not before. There's no need to pretend the tech is here and dupe poeple into doing their dough. I am happy to discuss this in detail until you realize what a deceiver you are.

      Go back and look at the earlier descriptions of the Aptera. The solar cells were an afterthought like the tent or pet package. Most people were ordering them as an option because they only added $600 to the price. Seeing the interest, Aptera revised their marketing strategy and started focusing on a $600 option. Suddenly the focus was "Solar Mobility". To this day they have not demonstrated any benefits of their solar cells beyond their effectiveness as a marketing ploy.

    The USCG effort should be telling. Over a month since the presentation and they were projecting 60-90 days to complete the offering. So roughly Election Day. Seems like they need around 1,000 qualified investors to review the data and engage. If they could complete a PI to a decent level and send out an update to anyone who inquired @ USCG, that would presumably go a long way.

    • @rchender
      @rchender 2 месяца назад

      My sincere hope is that USCG doesn't mention a single thing about where they are in the offering, how much they've raised to date or how much longer they're going to run the offering. That amount of capital raised is information ONLY FOR Aptera....and certainly NOT for the likes of trolls like aussieidealess man, skripmtopia, kukumber, etc. The first sentence from hellman clearly reveals his intent for getting his grubby little paws on that type of funding information.

    • @bobhellman8676
      @bobhellman8676 2 месяца назад

      @rchender My intent is to see if they even have a program here. More specifically, if they show a $30K BOM, that’s typical of a $75K product for a fully viable company. If the average person drops $100K ea., on this, that’s 600 qualified investors that looked at those numbers/losses and “went for it”. I honestly don’t see this as sound. If they do a Sept. update and proclaim “We sold out!”, you can absolutely call me full of it. More on that Sept. update: You’re hoping for some kind of statement on the lawsuit, no? You’re hoping to see a PI chassis complete? Body fully trimmed & bonded? Doors and rear panel hinged and on the struts? Seats on brackets? I presume you’re looking for more than the worn out “cool” and “We’re working hard” spew, no?

    • @bobhellman8676
      @bobhellman8676 2 месяца назад

      @rchender Also, for what it’s worth, when the USCG presentation was made on that data, I looked @ the 12% & risk, given what I’ve observed on Aptera’s last 2 years. I then, for the absolute f_ck of it, went out & bought a “qualified investor” sum of TSLA. As an endorsement of the 6 years of success my wife has had with her Model 3 Dual Motor. And out of believe that Aptera hasn’t shown any ability to manufacture their way out of a paper bag. It’s up over 30% as of today. So they can stuff their 12%/YEAR.

    • @rchender
      @rchender 2 месяца назад

      @@bobhellman8676 First of all, there is no 'sold out' on a convertible note!--especially this one. They close it when the two writing parties agree to close it. That's in the first and second party contract or aren't you familiar with convertible notes? And I really don't give a tinker's damn about whether or not you see convertible note capital raising as sound--these notes are done every day--I have done several myself and they're more often than not a great deal. And if Aptera's attorneys are worth their salt, their advice would be: "Say absolutely NOTHING about the threatened lawsuit. Are you really that stupid that you've never seen or heard of an attorney telling their client to not talk about it? (Why am I wasting my time even replying to a negative nancy who knows NOTHING, LIKE YOU! And it doesn't matter what the date/month if and when they show us P1, P2 and/or P3. Thank you sir for covering this topic in a clear and data driven way. Although your hybrids are marginally better than large or less efficient internal combustion engine cars, you failed to mention two of the two most consequential costs of ICE/Hybrid vehicles compared to EVs - namely, air pollution and the impact on climate change. There is tremendous cost to society as a whole, including your family and mine, of continuing to operate ICE vehicles. There are the thousands of deaths and high medical costs associated with ICE vehicle air pollution, and the many costs of increased occurrences and intensity of weather emergencies, species and habitat loss, warming and acidification effects on the ocean, and increased climate migration. These costs should be an important part of any vehicle selection analysis. The Aptera gets high marks here for the electric battery and drivetrain, and the reduced embodied carbon footprint due to the carbon sequestered in its body and the low emissions profile due to the extreme efficiency and direct solar to running miles from the built-in solar panels. I too am an Aptera investor and reservation holder, and am excited to finally have this vehicle parked outside my home.

    The Aptera concept has a number of plusses, but the reality is that the vehicle is still far from production and doesn't seem to be getting any closer. The entire drive train has just been re-engineered. Who knows what other major change is coming before someone says "put down your pencils" and they get on with production.

    • @cybernoid001

      What do you mean with not getting closer? They've finally secured enough funding, and have their OEM partners lines up and are starting various equipment fit testing and crash testing in this next quarter? Yeah, its a bummer that the wheel hub motors are still in development, so they had to adjust the drive train, but they went with a known well established motor to use until they can get the hub motors developed so that they can start delivery. I do think that in Q2 of next year, people will start getting delivery.

    Hi Bill , have you looked at Atieva ( Lucid motors) battery patent? Seems aptera has exactly the same design, thats going to be a big problem, the battery pack they have been showing will need to pay lucid licensing fee and/or royalties. Are you aware of this? Being an investor I think its your right to know this.

      @@ChasingAptera Seeing aptera battery design I noticed all the welds are at the top of the cells, both pos and neg. The neg weld is on the very thin side of the cell top ( the positive in the middle). This was unusual as most battery packs connect the negative at the bottom of the cell. This sparked my interest as I thought it was a bad way to do it since there is so little room for the neg weld on the rim of the top of each cell. I did some posts saying I thought this was a bad idea to do it this way. Then some months later I was watching lucid battery video by its ceo, and low and behold they do it the same way. So since its quite an unusual way to do it , it stood out as being same as apteras method. So I looked into lucid if they had a patent, and they were known as atieva in the past, and yes they have a patent on that method of cell connection. The patent also includes a bottom cooling plate. Pretty much its exact same as apteras design. So did aptera copy or come up with same design independently, we will never know. But it does mean that aptera will need to pay lucid motors a licence fee etc, or they need to change their design of the battery pack. Its not been discussed previous to my research finding out that they have 'copied' lucid motors battery pack. You will need to find atieva battery patent to see the details of their patent, but its same design I can assure you. I was pretty surprised that lucid motors did it that way, but they are using cells have a little wider rim on top for the negative weld, so seems that is not an issue. Lucid puts their pack upside down in their cars, so that if there is a fire it goes vertical downwards. The issue will be leakage of electrolyte over many years since the seal is on the top, the electrolye has a sneaky way of getting out via seals.

    I also live in Georgia and hope to fly to California and drive an Aptera back home, but I decided last year to buy a lightly used Bolt EV in the meantime, so the level 2 charger in my garage has something to do. I don't know how much I'll drive on solar energy ultimately, but I've always considered the Aptera's solar panels gimmicky. If the company's claims pan out, the vehicle's aerodynamic efficiency will double the range per kWh that my Bolt delivers, and the Bolt is already a very efficient EV. Even with no solar charging, Aptera's efficiency improvement is groundbreaking.

    It costs me $70/year to insure my 150cc Honda scooter. It was $6,000 new after taxes. It gets 80mpg with mixed city and highway driving. Has a top speed of 70mph. This is what I use as my daily commuter and short trips around town when the weather is nice. Safety is a concern, I have been in one motorcycle accident on larger naked motorcycle after colliding with an SUV the pulled out in front of me. They had insurance so no costs from it, just permanent bodily harm. Aptera claims there three wheel car will be as safe as 4 wheel car, but they aren't required to meet the safety standards of a 4 wheel car, but being an enclosed vehicle with seat belts and air bags makes it vastly safer than a motorcycle (assuming the airbags don't malfunction and explode on you or start a fire and the battery doesn't have issues). I have invested some money in Aptera and hope they succeed. It would make a great daily commuter for a lot of people and if the insurance rates are less than a typical sedan it would be cheaper to drive than even a fuel efficienct scooter. It also would be a great road trip vehicle for two people as it's smaller battery pack means it's should be able to charge to 80% capacity in less time than any Tesla, while having access to their charge network without an adapter.

    Assuming they have the pet divider kit ever you never want an unsecured pet or pet in crate in the trunk space of any vehicle. So unless Aptera has tie down points for the pet crate you are just risking your pet's life. The price you quote is not the price they told US Capital Group which is $39,000. Given the told reservation holders that new price after telling the company responsible for securing them funds, who do you think got told the truth? Put it this way, US Capital probably forced Aptera to open their books. But go ahead and believe your lie. They confirmed that openPilot will not be available for some time. Insurance is likely to be much higher than any motorcycle because of the 40 kWh battery pack. Given the nearly all custom parts in the Aptera insurance will be higher that a comparable car. Sorry, I know some fun people and they laughed when I asked. I live in the same state :) The solar electricity handbook, look it up, can provide you sunlight exposure values for your home. Just understand the panel angle will never be ideal. Georgia electricity prices in my area are 11c a kWh. My maintenance on the Tesla has been cabin air filters, tire rotations, and such. Aptera safety is very suspect. They are claiming to meet FMVSS which is an absolute minimum standard. They certainly will not meet the safety standards your 2007 Prius did which at the time was rated at four stars and the Prius has side air bags as well. Quit believing that lie about carbon fiber usage in F1 cars being comparable to what Aptera is using. Aptera is using short strand carbon fiber - the cheapest method out there - the method companies like Harley uses for FENDERS. You cannot be daft enough to believe any of that. Resale value will only exist if they make only a handful but the real reason there will be none is that it does not move the needle at all. the automotive world is not excited let alone interested in it.

    Aptera yes. Good point about the pets safety. I hope nobody buys a gas car while they're waiting for Aptera production.

    One point of disagreement. Aptera is one of the best EV’s where there are few superchargers. Both because of the solar capability, and reasonable range from just a standard outlet. Still, I really enjoyed the video. Liked and subscribed.

    Aptera looks small when you see it in photos because of its rounded shape but it's quite roomy inside. It's also quite long at almost 14'.

      I will be driving from Cali to Miami and I'm a little bit worried as I have owned a Tesla 3 only and no other electric car so have no experience charging other than super chargers which you don't need to worry or do anything. Depending on how Aptera develops regarding charging specs or access might consider the option of a car hauler.

    I have told my wife we would tow the Aptera by our RV as it weighs just 2000 lbs. It would be great if it had a drive assist to minimize any range impact as well.
