    I have one. It does a lot of really cool stuff but there are some weird software design decisions. For example the default reverb is VAN? Screen calibration screwed me during a gig. Suddenly all input channels were set to "from SD card". I did not press that object. Took me a minute to figure out why everything went silent. The multitrack recordings I sound very nice. And the Capture app is great.

    hello. I just purchased these. I have a venue tetra control which is fairly simple to use. I just want all them to be the same color and I bought some similar lights which are the retro lamps. they have d setting where I was about to set at d001. unfortunately this just shows A001 which I'm not able to have all of them a single color to fade into others. any ideas how I could get this going? thanks for your help!

    When looking at large mic counts/ IEM counts, this system scales up at a lower price point then buying individual pieces. Amazing product. Can't wait to see them in the real world. Let alone how much this is going to change the industry as we know it. Broadway musicals getting performers to have mics and IEM's in one pack. Glorious!

    I think its fine to have 32 wireless mics come back to one unit. Like You would still be coming back to 1 stage box what if that stage box dies? plus also being able to have 4 antennas off one unit means its probably really reliable, IF THE SOFTWARE IS GOOD

    30 channels is useful for corporate. I get your observations, it one thing is, if you have it for multiple instruments, it’s got 30 channels, so you can have a bunch of transmitters at the same time.

  • @martinlonek8980
    @martinlonek8980 14 дней назад

    thank you for great review. but there is a misunderstanding@min 14. the rack unit pictured supports a full 32x32 channels, not just 8 as you say. these eight units you see underneath the main unit is a 8x charger 1u rack unit that's sold separately. also, this doesn't send/receive individual 32x32 channels. it only has one ultrawide 6-8MHz channel, heavily protected with advanced OFDM (orthogonal frequency division multiplexing) modulation. This is incomparable to any other existing "dumb" rx/tx systems including shure axient/workbench or anything older by sennheiser or sound devices. All these systems use individual channels, each causing intermodulation, their txs don´t know anything about receiver, they just blindly transmit. Also today´s receivers only can operate transmitters using supporting technologies like BT or Wi-Fi, which usually have less range than the system alone. This ecosystem uses the same sub-carrier used for main signal to completely control the bodypack - this is where the revolution is. Also read more about OFDM on Wiki, it is fantastic, used in other fields for years now (LTE, 5G) e.t.c.. I´m looking forward to see the real performance of this ecosystem. They plan to introduce small bodypacks for film/TV/Theatre, the handheld microphones and lots of other stuff as well, rumours say some of it will come in the end of 2025. I also hope the competition will raise to this WMAS from other manufacturers, would be nice to see something from Shure.

  • @lucidlx
    @lucidlx 15 дней назад

    I’m surprised no one hasn’t done this sooner. SDRs have been a thing for a long time now. I suspect all the magic is in the antenna. That is where the SDR will be. The base is probably mostly just a management computer.

  • @mashzmash
    @mashzmash 15 дней назад

    The cost savings -- at scale -- can be ridiculous. If you're considering a transmit and receive for each performer, the intersection seems to be around 8 people (using ULXD4Q+ULXD1 and PSM900 system as a comparison). At 4 performers Spectera is about 30% more expensive but at 32 performers it's about 30% cheaper -- and that's not counting antenna combiners, good coax, all the rack space. The thing that I'll need some time to get comfortable with is the use of the wideband TDMA-like scheme in an unlicensed band that is already saturated with a lot of traditional analog (or "dumber" digital) devices. There's built-in resiliency in their protocol but what isn't quite clear to me is whether you need a solid consecutive 6-8MHz block to operate the system properly. It seems that with a wide band like this and constant bi-directional control over the same antenna (much better than ShowLink), we can have bodypacks hopping around to adapt. But I'm still concerned that a single significant interferer can take out a large number of channels at once. It will also be interesting to see what handheld options they come out with down the road too.

    10k Euros (inlc. Taxes) only for the base-unit. They should sell this at 5k for base-unit and 899 for the bidirectional trans/receiver. It'll sell like hot cakes. But 10k for the base unit alone? No thanks.

    • @lukasbunk3047
      @lukasbunk3047 15 дней назад

      You know how expensive the other options for wireless microphones are, do you? For the base unit you would just get like 12 channels of EW-DX (only the reciever). So the price is pretty reasonable.

    • @martinlonek8980
      @martinlonek8980 14 дней назад

      For movie/TV use, Spectera is worth it if you have more than 16 channels. Compared to Wisycom, Senn. d6000 line, Shure Axient. But that´s a primitive price calculation only, it doesn´t take the robustness of this system in consideration.

    How many mixing consoles do you use on a gig? How quickly can you swap in a spare and restart the show? spring clamps or lockjaw pliers make an easy way of anchoring cables :) so I now expect you'll have done all this, and then decide to go for IEMs for the musicians/singers (singers are musicians) for all bands in the future. I love your M32 and X32 cases. I'm sure it should be possible to do all the monitors and FOH from one console, but obviously lots of switching of displays/controls. Are you considering a multi-track recording from them, or just a stereo feed for livestreaming and recording concerts? And yes, the joy of live soundchecks when the band shows up an hour late.

    Good cables aren't important. Wiggle wiggle wiggle YEAH! (then apply lots of gaff tape) Not having a monitor tech/desk sucks, cause friends don't let friends mix monitors. Seeing the low number of inputs, looks like 11 inputs on deck, you could just double up your channels and get independent gains and q's. 1-16 House, 17-32 Monitors using inputs 1-16 (remember to flip pages). That way my lazy azz doesn't have to move a desk. What if the band has 24 inputs? Just put the vox and whoever else is being "extra special person" on doubled. Not perfect but neither is moving the other desk and still cheaper than a monitor tech. FYI, More beer for me and I'm asking for a raise.

      @@DCAVL Really sounds like a cable issue to me. AES50 works fine between x32 and M32 from my experience. We do 2-3 shows weekly with a x32 Rack as Stage Monitor Console and M32 @ FOH. Only difference being that we use DL32 as a stagebox and our monitor console is controlling the headamp / gain on all channels, so our FOH guy gets digital trim only. But it works great. For like 5-6 years now

      @@TinoSchulz1990 it 💯 was the cable. Sad thing was that I had 2 bad cables. After you use your back up you start questioning if it's the cable. After I got the crappy cat5 from the bar it worked all night. So guess I'm buying new shielded cables.

      @@DCAVL nah unless it is power. just put some cable hangers or zip tie on a screw to hold it to the 2x6. Just not on the ground. If your site is inspected by the city then you may have to hop through some hoops getting to code.

    Do you made a fixture for Onyx?

      I should make one. I tricked the system. Added 6 rgb lights and intensity fixtures to get them to work. I was trying to make this video in a day due to time. I'm getting them out for a show in a week or so and I can list a fixture for Onyx then!

    I'm new to digital mixers, how do you get your internet to the router in the field like that? I have the Yamaha DM3, it has apps for Ipad, its simple to connect at home but idk how to get linked over wifi out in the wild. Watched several videos but I am missing something.

      I used to have a perfect one! We would use this van all the time so we used a ramp most of the time to pack. We kinda outgrew the van, started doing bigger shows and ended up selling the ramp. Now we are kinda in a season of going smaller and I need a ramp again. Thanks for watching!

    So Sweetwater is having a crazy sale on Behringer mixers right now. Was about to throw an X32 compact in my cart (as an alternative to my X32 rack and iPad and 22 inch touch screen. I use a DL32 stage box for that Midas flavor goodness), and watching you wrestle that big ol M32 helped me decide that I'm perfectly happy running shows on an iPad. Lol.

    I never attempt to mix FOH via headphones, because that's obviously not what anyone else is hearing, but aside from checking sources I use them quite frequently in smaller venues to check what's stage volume and what's via the PA. You can better understand what changes to make when you know which components/proportions of the mix are actually going to be influenced by that. Things are what they are and they do what they do. It's really just about making solid decisions on the basis of that rather than rote learned rules of never do X, always do Y.
