I am surprised with NomadBSD ... very good system
I used LXLE for a number of years. Unfortunately it is no longer supported and is quite far behind on the development tree. Too bad. It was very user friendly.
Is it possible to create desktop shortcuts? Just installed it and SUPER not obvious how you do it :D
Next level is transparent Wayland. Are you there? 😈 I'm almost there, but on FreeBSD (14.1, Nvidia gtx 750 ti, trying to get rid of Linux ABI. I hope that recompiling an open source Nvidia driver will help me in that) About Network transparency there are no ideas yet.
it gives macOS vibes
Hi my name is d I love your videos you're doing a great job but one more thing I've been in hacked real bad. 👍
Why. Is. Bro. Talking. Like. This. ?. Lol.
I appreciate this video. I'm about to install FreeBSD and thinking about giving Enlightenment a try, too.
Stuck with it. Divorced Windows (after 10). Tried several Linux versions. They all broke or didn't do what I needed. Finally found Solus. It's been my daily driver for 2 years. Printing is my only big complaint.
Choose your life. Choose BSD OR GNU. 😊 I chose BSD 😈
Great review. concise and clear. Just what I was looking for in "What is Redox OS" intro. Thanks mate.

They really rewrote Linux in Rust 😭 😭
Does NetBSD 10 still use tons of memory to the point of freezing the entire system and requiring a hard reset? I'd love to give it another go, but if they haven't figured out the memory problem, then I'll stick with Linux.
I much prefer the Rust4Linux team to rather focus on Redox OS instead of Debian...with the "move fast and break things" mindset, do exactly that in Redox and please stay away from Debian. Rewrite all the codes you want in Rust to your heart content, nothing stopping you in Redox OS...but don't break things in other distros especially important ones like Debian.

Hey, what's up? Where are you? Come back!
That’s my favorite distro ❤
I can't get Cinnamon to work correctly in Freebsd 13 or 14. No desktop background and it fails to load applets. Cinnamon is my favorite DE and It sucks it's broken on Freebsd.
I got the network manager running with the networkmgr package.. disable the applet though before u install. it will appear bottom right corner
WHY is Haiku worth looking at? WHY would anyone want to use it? What can you do better with Haiku? I cannot see anything in the video. Sure, nice for geeks to have something new to play around with. But is there a good reason to actually use it? It's like all those different Linux distros that damage Linux as an alternative OS. Instead of having few and focusing on getting those advanced, there are plenty dead and dying branches that cost a lot of energy and go nowhere.
Still work with Linux softwares?

Just went back to using Solus now that the chaos seems to be over with.
Thanks for the video and showing htop! I thought my OpenBSD build was the only one running at 1.2gb of ram because so many people on forums say it’s lightweight.
Do you know of any downloadable prebuilt, Freebsd (KDE) QEMU images to try? I can't seem to find any. I have tried GhostBSD and others as a live image on USB though, which seems to work fine. Just want to try it via QEMU.
show the installation of freebsd + cinnamon + zfs for root, home and swap
Linux user here, but I've been intrigued with BSD lately. I don't ever foresee myself daily driving a BSD, but it would be fun to dabble with on a seperate rig
Question can you Game on FBSD with Steam?
Is FBSDs documentation better than Gentoos?
As this project seems to be moving quickly, can you do a “check-in” video for Redox every 6 months or so!?
Could you tell me how you got the automount to work for the USB, etc?
I tried many times to get FreeBSD running with a usable GUI but was unsuccessful, I was overjoyed too early to see your video, but there are a lot of works to do before I can get to that stage.
Best and fastest distro I ever tried.
Liked your Video ! Thanks !
Not only do I get BSD info but, you're classy enuff not to stick your face all over the screen!!! You sir, are awesome!
Looks interesting, but has a major flaw: it uses systemd, like most (but not al) Debian-based distros do. And it's not lightweight either... it consumes 1 Gb of RAM at startup, even with Openbox as the window manager. A full XFCE system (with bluetooth, picom, etc) takes over at least 250 Mb less RAM on my system.
So Crowz Linux can be a choice: Devuan+Openbox....
@@arturofatturi9490 Thank you for pointing this out. Crowz still uses elogind - which is a minus - but it's definitely lightweight and an interesting option.
At 6:52, you're undoing the ribbon data cable. It would be helpful if you could spend some time there explaining how to unseat the clip.
i tried
this is realy useless system, i need for work /hobbies eclipse (SAP ABAP and STM32 microcontrolers), phpstorm. KiCAD doesnt work and i dont know why so I jump back to ArchLinux
Greetings from Venezuela, This is a great video, helpful, my problem is that I want to record the mix, not the mic or monitor sound, but the mix, in order I can stream it, can you help me with that?
Networkmgr can use xfce also?
How can I install the network mgr when I don't have wifi
Six months late. But, If you have, use ethernet. Otherwise, use your phone's USB hotspot.
Thanks for putting this together. Some unsolicited feedback: Your audio has too much boom making your speech difficult to hear.
It's Not Redox but Red Ox? 😮
I'm sure there's an OX-FORD comma in, there somewhere
hello i want to play audio over btsco0 but i always get error messages. im hsing usb dongle which is working fine and i trying with my bluetooth headphone but i can't recording or playing audio. the error message after try to record audio is btsco0 device time out and after try to play audio with audioplay -d /dev/audio1 example.au or example.wav i get write error.
Of the different BSDs throughout the years, I've primarily used OpenBSD since 1998. I already had eight years experience in various Unix shops (everything run from the shell prompt, no GUI & DE). I actually prefer using the prompt over a DE. I feel so much more content and it actually makes me think, unlike these Linux distros where you're practically handheld running the OS.
You can use Linux without a DE.
I'm on break and I'm bored and kinda interested in trying out FreeBSD. Can it handle the gaming hardware I have on my laptop? I am not gonna be gaming on it. BSD gives Linux vibes I like it.
Nice video! I just installed Bunsenlabs on my wife's 2018 cheapo laptop yesterday. Gotta admit it was just because I couldn't get Bodhi to boot properly. It's runs well. Not super snappy but adequately. The Openbox menu is responsive and well-designed. I had terrible Ubuntu flashbacks when I saw the big fat left-side vertical tint2 panel but was glad to see it was easily moved without too much haxing. I'll pretty much use the laptop for Morrowind modding so I was dismayed to see the latest OpenMW package isn't available. How very Debian. Thank god for those backport repos. Also, why can't I find flatpack? I'm too dumb for this.
Have you tried Antix, it will be snappy if bunsen not working out dor you. Its a shame that Bodhi didn't work for you. I had a great experience with Bodhi linux.
588 mb in my case
