Mr. Rogine, I don’t know if you’ll see this message but I hope you do. I was a bass student at Five Towns College way back in 1981-1983 in Merrick and then Seaford. I had you and Mr. Carbone as my teachers and I learned so much from both of you during my time at Five Towns. I just now found out Mr. Carbone passed away. I was shocked to hear that and I’m very sorry. Thank you so much for making my learning experience at Five Towns fulfilling and rewarding. All the teachers at Five Towns left a great impression on me and I still think about all of you more than 40 years later. (Mr. Kalisky, Mr. and Mrs. Berardinelli, Mr. Mymit, Mr. Scerbo.)

@@BarryCudaknifecombat, I could be way off and I apologize if I am but I had a few classes with Barry who played the trumpet. I remember being in one of Joe’s classes, maybe Harmony or Theory, with a Barry and Joe made us learn and play the arpeggios over and over. Chuck was one of my favorite teachers. I’m sure you remember Mr. and Mrs. B., brilliant teachers and musicians.

Hi Peter. Love the story regarding your D’aquisto. I wanted to ask, did Jimmy remove the internal sound post when he thinned the body depth, or did he cut it down and re-fit it? Basically does your version have an internal sound post? Are you also sure about the year? There seems to be conflicting dates regarding Jimmy’s reissue of this guitar with Hagstrom. The date given widely is 1975 so these models (the one you have) should have come into existence as early as 1975. Your thoughts much appreciated.

As a Gibson amp aficionado, I'm envious of that GA-77. The "Vanguard" amp with 15" had the circuit Vox copped for their "top boost" circuit in the AC-30 amp, maybe that was from the later version? The octal preamp tubes don't generate as much volume or gain, but for warm clean tones they are hard to beat..................!

Studied with Joe at FTC, but in the Dix HIlls location. He was my biggest supporter in a time when I was a young father trying to make it in college. He had a famous saying that you had to recite whenever he asked you how you were doing, your response had to be "I'm overjoyed and bursting with emotion". If you didn't say it, it was to the library to write your scales a hundred times. If you didn't have your homework..... poor you, he would make you stick your head out of the window and scream it at full volume while all the students would yell for you to shut the F&^k up lol. A true master and a rare friend. RIP brother, you will be missed.
