We love Bruuuuuuuuuce! 😍😍 Also, one thing that helped me re: grocery shopping is doing the Walmart online shopping. I still go pick it up myself to not spend extra money, but it's a lot harder to be tempted by stuff when you're not walking through the store and randomly seeing it. Online, you really have to search for what you already know you want (and it makes it much easier to compare cost per lb./unit). Ps. When I was really doing my best to pay off debt (a cycle I'm about to begin again after many years, with an unfortunate new debt), if my frustration about "living poor" got too intense after a while, I'd hit up the Dollar Tree once per month or once every other month and let myself get whatever I wanted. Granted, this was when everything truly was no more than $1, but it's still a nice way to feel like you're indulging without burning a hole in your pocket. As an added bonus, some of what you get is truly crap and it reminds you of the pitfalls you're trying to avoid at a bigger dollar amount.

Helpful for me is I created a meditation, stretching prayer life instead of shopping.

I'm doing a no buy January (bills, food and petrol only) and set a saving goal of £500 which is to be spent on experiences for the family. Looking at something and thinking I could buy this or have a day out with my family makes it easier to put back. I do every January as we've just had Christmas and I like to use up things we've just got any extra of like treats or toiletries

One time I had a running watch that I wanted to upgrade to in my cart and I left it there overnight and the next day I got an email that said an item in my cart was on sale and I saved $200. I figured that was a sign I needed to buy it

Really helpful tips, I got my first part-time job last year and spent so much on unnecessary stuff... Especially now that I had my own money as a teenager, I get fast influenced by trends, but I hope a low buy will help me to be more mindful of my consumption 🙌🏽

I'm 34 and I feel way behind compared to other "peers" especially those 5+ years younger than me but unfortunately I think we hit growth milestones at all the worst times. I know back in 2020 my career was realllllyyyyyyyyy starting to take off. I was saving up and looking to buy my first home, and add another child to our family, and boom I was suddenly jobless and any savings we had. GONE. Of course I was pregnant so that didn't help matters lol. I'm just now to the point I've recovered and paid off the debt I got and in a good place with a new career. It took almost five years to get back to close to where I was. People in their early 20's were still in college five years ago. We were at different life stages when things hit the fan. It makes a difference. Don't beat yourself up.

A shopping tip I have is before you pick up an item in the store or look at the price decide what a fair price is for the item. Or even just guess the price. Try and be quick and rapid fire a price in your mind. A lot of times the price is much more. New shiny enchantment broken! Focusing on the price and making it a bit of game helps you maintain the money consciousness without it feeling like a drag.

I declutered and created an inventory of all the things I own. It takes forever which is also an extra motivation to get rid of as many things as you can. if you have a lot of things it'll just take longer to complete. Now, if I bring something home I need to add it to the inventory. It just makes the buying and adding process much more mindful.

I am really bad at budgeting. Thank you for your great tips. I am starting my own low buy year 2025. I realized there are things that I'm wasteful out of sheer lazines. And thanks to you I'm keeping more meaningful things in my life troughout the year (hobbies). There may be ways to spend less money on them. Greetings from Finland 🇫🇮

Thank you for this video. I'm going to attempt a no-buy January, so I appreciate the tips. I noticed your love of candles and wanted to mention something that worked for me this year. When I use up a candle, I put the empty jar in my pantry. I bought a big bag of bees' wax pellets, some wicks, and a metal pitcher online. When I have half a dozen or so empty jars (I also saved other glass jars besides empty candle jars) I melt a pitcher's worth of bees' wax and refill the jars. Then I have a whole new set of new candles.

Need to know where those chocolate brown ribbed pants are from!

I would get rid of the black dress before the white striped one. I could be wrong, but I think it's much easier to find a cute comfy, inexpensive black dress than to find that unique linen one! Or just send it to me, and I'll wear it. 🤣 But seriously, when I have something I'm not sure about, I try to force myself to wear it in the next few days. If I don't, then that's a sign I'll probably rarely wear it if I keep it. If I do wear it, I'm usually reminded "Oh, yeah this is why I don't wear this as much. I'll get rid or it so someone else can enjoy it." OR I'm like, "Ohhhh, I like this! Why have I not been wearing it?! I'm definitely excited to wear it again." Then I'll keep it.

It really is hard to declutter and talk about it for a video at the same time! Good luck on your move! We move in 6-8 months...it's a good decluttering motivator, but I feel like I'm already decluttering throughout the whole year. 😅
