a while back a girl i was talking to (ended up dating later on) listened to me sumarize all of jojo's bizzarre adventure parts 1-7, she wasn't a nerd either, she didn't watch anime hated, video games but she was still really into me. Despite that i still went on to be ashamed of playing video games and watching anime to the point that i'd act like i didn't know what they were because my friends said it'd "scare away the hoes"

I don't know if this is on topic but i just wanted to say something. In secondary school/high school, I had an interest in anime (which I've had for a much longer time but not knowing what it was called). As I became more attractive in secondary school, more people began to take an interest in me. I often shared my interest in anime which got me laughed at most of the time by people who don't watch it and approached me. I now made a "friend" who was also interested in anime. He did some weird stuff though😂 (but I didn't really complain because that was what he liked and was interested in). After a while, he started acting weird but I found out later on that he "liked" me (which i brushed off because i knew nothing about romance and wasn't interested). Then it hit me some time later that this person did not really like me for me but for the imagination of me he had in his head. Whenever we were discussing on an anime topic, he shared his POV on some stuff and i listened. But when it was my time to share my POV, it got ruled out as stupid or not valid. He talked to me extensively about so many anime waifus that he was "down bad" for or found attractive which i listened and laughed along but doesn't pay attention whenever i talk about a male character or tells me to change my profile pic if i put a male character. He talked down on his other friend to make himself look good, he was acting so weird as if he'd won a price whenever i say hi to him amidst a group of people I don't know (I can't greet people i don't know cuz i was socially awkward). There were more but it didn't take long for me to realize that the "like" that he "likes" me is the person that he thinks i am in his head without individually trying to get to know me. He was just interested in the fact that i also liked anime and was pretty and nothing else. There were some other things he did which i was uncomfortable with but i couldn't really speak up because i didn't have enough confidence in myself at the time. I still get mad thinking about those times because I really thought i made a friend who i shared interests with and could speak about some things on different perspectives but it wasn't that. Looking back, i was just convenient for him and his ego because i was kinda close with him (I didn't really know how to make many friends because I'm kind of socially awkward😂). And it's not like he wasn't good looking at all. I just felt bad that someone was just using me for an ego boost rather than getting to know me (at least how i saw it). Moving on to university, I'm less socially awkward and talked with some people. Most of the time, they aren't interested in what i like or respect it. I even got called weird a couple of times because i didn't conform to the image of me i had in their head. And the funny thing is that they still try to get me close to me after making fun of me in many ways and seeing we have nothing in common. I feel insulted by this because it's like I'm not being seen as a person but as a decoration to show off to people. And that was where it hit me that not everyone that wants to get close to you, has innocent intentions. Though there are some people that i had good times with. So what i have to say is that it doesn't matter if you are a nerd or not, attractive or not, or whatsoever. There will be people that won't accept you for who you are and expect you to conform to the image of you they have in their head. And there are people who won't want to associate or accept you because you are not what they want even if you share many things in common. It's not about being a nerd or not. Some of those so called "nerds" still end up treating some people badly even if you share interests with them. So no pointing fingers at women or men when we are both equally the problem. Rather than looking at everything through the lens of gender differences, look it it through the lens of people being people regardless of gender. Not everyone has good intentions for you as you may also have for them. Make sure to not allow anyone to disrespect you and if they do and still want to get close to you, have it in the back of your mind that they won't be a solid part of your life. And also, don't change yourself for anyone (except if you are a horrible person, you need to change but for self improvement. Definitely😂)

I don’t understand why we continue to use encompassing statements like “Black Women don’t like nerds” as if that’s all Black women. Now I wouldn’t go as far to say that everything is this video is right , but for the most part, Pillboy got it right. Black women nerds got the same treatment as Black men nerds. The problem is the black nerd community as a whole has a tendency to point the finger at each other when they both go after people outside our group, that clearly aren’t attracted to them or aren’t mature enough to understand anime is hobby not a personality. So when they get rejected both put that on black men or black women in general for not liking them, which in turn results in these 2 groups constantly complaining about each other. When in reality they both tried to get someone out of their range, so now they blame the group as a whole and big up other races in the ac as better because they didn’t learn from rejection properly and understood that they should date amongst themselves if they want the results they’re looking for.

I don't think this applies as to everybody as a whole, but one of the biggest reasons why it's difficult to market non-white media to a white audience, especially the terminally online, is because a lot of white peoole do not like being confronted with anything that doesn't conform to their narrow-minded view of both how things are and how things should be. It's why we've been hearing a bunch of bullshit about AA, CRT, and DEI for the past few years; they can't fathom that you can be a minority and have something worthwhile to say and/or they can't fathom the idea that the systems in place that necessitate these kind of programs give white people an advantage and non-white people a disadvantage. But this is preaching to the choir. On another note, I gotta know the tracks you used for this video. That music was great.

As a teen i was always a bit if a weirdo, not "nerd" just a bit of a freak due to trauma and AuDHD, so i never really knew how to interact with people until my 20s when i started forcing myself into social situations to learn how to be normal. I also grew up in a self-hating household, black mom didnt like that she was black and tried to distance herself from everything that made her who she was, white dad was just a general racist and misogynist, so i always distanced myself from black people, especially black women. All that to say i was NOT a catch, especially for a black woman, dweebish awkward loser, but heres the thing: black women are cool as fuck. They'd still flirt with me, they'd still reach out to me, they'd still match on dating apps or go out of their way to make it clear that they liked me. After i worked on myself and realized my own internal biases i realized what was happening and ended up marrying a beautiful black woman. So yeah, if I have a chance, a skinny larping cosplaying dnd playing anime watching musical theater of a dweeb, then every single other black nerd also has an equal chance. Just learn the skills you need to be able to have a conversation and confront yourself when youre being shitty, and youll have a much better time.

Im sure I’ll take some heat from this as I know this was touched on in the video to extent. As a male blerd, a lot of resent comes from a large and rightfully perception of not fully being heard or corrective action being taken. What I mean is whenever we talk about our experiences of being undervalued, overlooked, rejected, ostracized, etc. the counter stories of black female blerds typically take precedent as now we have to unpack mysogynoir, colorism, sexism, etc. Next thing you know, we the male blerd isn’t even focused on anymore outside of “get over it” “it’s your fault” “you just wanted to mean pretty popular girl anyways” etc. Flattop Chicken also had an excellent point in his video: it’s not that female blerds didn’t like male blerds. It’s just that it was primarily the conventionally attractive men who happen to be blerds they really wanted.

What I find interesting about these types of videos that claim to address issues for everyone within a specific demographic is how the responsibility is always placed on the individual, especially when that person is male. If a man struggles to find a partner, the message is often that it's his fault. However, when women express the same struggles, the blame tends to shift to society or men as the cause of their difficulties. Even the advice we receive is influenced by gender.

Started of thinking this video may be onto something. Ended up being the same thing your types say all the time. Step 1 tell black nerds they got bullied to lower there guard. Step 2 tell black nerds you are being misogynistic for pointing out black women don't want them. Step 3 expand the definition of nerd so everyone fits making it mean nothing. "W- well lebron james is a basketball nerd and he gets women it has to be you!". Yeah I guess if you expand the definition to mean all black men then black women like nerds. But everyone knows what kind of guy we are talking about when we say they are a nerd and no that kind of man gets far less play. Nothing to do with them stinking or being mean its due to being a nerd and being a black nerd makes it double worse.

    • @ahmorgan

Normies have co-opted nerd culture, and I say this as a normie. It's like watching 21 Jump Street in real life, but now they're actually telling nerds it's their fault women don't like them. I've noticed a consistent message in these video essays: When Black men struggle with dating, the answer is often, "It's your fault, be better, get over your trauma." But when Black women face the same issues, the message is, "Never change, you are the prize, men are awful, society is racist."

I'm a black guy who's always been interested in "nerdy stuff and have always liked nerdy black girls, yet so often they complain no one wants them. But I'll be over here like "i'm attracted to you tho", but they really don't care and actually ust want the asian and white guys. Every time. Last girl I tried to genuinely talk to and was attracted to was obsessed with Eren Yeager from Attack on Titan and even made a post online about wanting to make a love potion to give to someone who looks like him. I've come across black girls in board game and anime meetup groups IRL who don't take interest in the black guys and pay more attention to the other races instead. It's honestly just depressing because it feels like so many black women go around dogging out men of their own race yet display much of the hypocrisy that they claim is rampant. I understand some have had bad experiences, so I have I. I grew up being constantly bullied and dehumanized by black girls(and guys) but I don't shame anyone and I'm not the one out here rejecting black women, nerdy or not. Black women do NOT want nerdy black men...unless of course, like a comment here said, they are "fine"/good looking. Just be attractive bro lol.

Comment section feels like a psyop what is the point in needlessly lying lmfao this is like saying black mens favorite hobby is reading books... the numbers don't lie if you had to rank which groups of women liked nerds the least in America black women come in first place. Not to even mention the fact the threshold for black people seeing you as a nerd is very low compared to what a nerd actually is.

Great video man. I love all the historical context and background given. love the nuanced analysis of both blaxploitation and tubi films and how things could be improved upon. This is the type of film analysis I live for!
