Gojira - Amazonia | REACTION & REVIEW
This was a very pleasant surprise after their previous single "Born For One Thing." Returning with a very interesting song from their upcoming album. "Amazonia" is in some ways a return to an old Gojira, but imbued with a renewed experimentation for form and sonic palette.

SICK RIFFAGE | Nowhere To Run | Interview and EP listen!

exactly. real criticisms are tough pills to swallow but you're right. i'm a big fan of sleep token, but sometimes his vocals are not completely in line and notes are kind of messy. it's holding back the feelings of the track. but the mix of genres on their songs are great and i love it.

I compare the here and there rhythm of this album to that of a symphonic orchestra where you have ebbs and flows with highs and lows that are meant to invoke a range of emotions. It is a syncopated cacophony of sound haha

These guys are the grandaddy of prog...at that time they called it art rock. 5 virtuoso musicians each given a chance to shine on this album. Groundbreaking at its time. Check out Yes Album and Close to the Edge for more from this Era of the band.

That song was even back in the days considered as one of their heaviest. And to me, it fits very well to the capabilities of the old singer Sushi. And I like it. But in the clean section you also kind of get it where was his limits. In other old songs it is more obvious. I think the problem with their older stuff is not that is necessarily bad but very generic. They still haven't find their own style. This kind of song was very common in that time. With the new singer Nico for them suddenly they opened up a whole new world of possibilities.

When you said "I am doing to do a serious critical reaction to this song" I was in stitches as I knew what was coming. BTW one of my favourite books is a "serious critical analysis" of early punk. It is called "One Chord Wonders" and I love the bit when the writer breaks down the lyrics to "Holiday in the Sun" It is hilarious.

I like your level of self consciousness and the fact you're not afraid to say you don't love something. Sometimes it feels like reactors go out of their way to please everyone and it feels just awkward. Constructive criticism is always good, I'm a fresh fan of ST music and just diving in their stuff, I love almost all of it, but I realize it's not going to be everyone's cup of tea, and that's also fine 👍 Edit: I just read some of the comments here and the level of butthurt is comical. To most of you commenting people - Calling someone pretentious for disliking something is a very funny way of admitting your parents didn't say no to you😂

Yes' version of Simon and Garfunkel's America actually appeared later on, when Wakeman was leaving the band -- it was called Yesterdays, a collection of songs from their first two albums, Yes and Time and a Word. America was added in order to fulfill Wakeman's contract for working on one more album. As a side note Chris Squire and Jon Anderson, who founded Yes, were actually fans of Simon and Garfunkel. Sometime later still, Steve Howe met Paul Simon and Simon told him he liked Yes' version. That's why America didn't really fit with Yes' music.

Love some of your thoughts and perspective but I think you've missed this one by a mile. All of the things you're thinking about are the things I also think about as I'm listening to something. My opinions seem to be opposite yours a lot of the time. It comes down to taste, I guess. Mine is different than yours. To me, the vocal is ultra expressive. A few moments of too much? Absolutely. But the variety in delivery and the vulnerability/weakness/breaking of the vocal is - to me- intended to emotionally unsettle much of the music and show disparity and turbulence in the emotional state of the writer. This is a broken person telling a rich and painful story and your dismissing it as pop might have dulled your sensitivity to the emotional intention. The vocal delivery and the intention I hear in it match. Are the choices the same choices I'd have made? No. But this also isn't my story and there's no way I can tell someone else's story the same-way they'd tell it. To me, the contrasting musical styles reflect the ebbing and flowing of the relationship the lyric talks about. Sometimes it's darkness. Sometimes it's light. The lyrics tell me a story of a one-sided devotion bordering on abusive relationship. A deity? A lover? What's the difference? The mix? I dig it. A little low end-y? Yep. Do I have an emotional reaction to it? Yep. Is it a Will Putney mix? Nope. Is it a Lance Prenc mix? Nope. Is it a Nolly Mix? Is it a Jens Bogren mix? Is it a Zakk Cervini mix? Nope. All great (what an understatement) mixers. Is the dark and moody emotional reaction I'm having to the song appropriate for what the song seems to be telling me? Yes. Does that mean it's effective? Very. There's no accounting for taste. I disagree with you completely on this song but your thought process is similar to mine and I'll be watching for your thoughts on other songs that interest me!
