John was probably replaying it in his mind because he felt insecure about the first and only take he did of this phrase for the "Rock 'n Roll Circus" movie, so these repetitions here are him trying to purge or rewrite the embarrassing memory through humourous repetition.

When Paul changes his beatles songs, people praise him. When George doing the same with his songs, and mind you, this solo is the way harder to play than original one, people says shit about him. And no, Clapton did not played on the record, it was Harrison himself, enough with this shit.
it blew my mind to hear him play it that way cause I was always under the impression from interviews and things that he basically didn't practice guitar for a decade or so before this and started playing slide guitar cause he thought he couldn't play lead well anymore.

The people complaining that this doesnt sound exactly the same as the 'original' are wrong ! George wrote this song and this was his orginal instrumental which he had his friend Eric Clapton play on the recording, but Georges playing is the 'original'. In any case when bands play their compositions live they are rarely ever the same as the recording, sometimes they are even better, but rarely identical.
Eric Clapton didn’t play the solo on this song that was while my guitar gently weeps. That is George on the recording.

Clapton often sounded Harrisony.
If anyone other than George Harrison himself were playing this, the comments would be awash with idiots clucking their disapproval at how much the sacred original had been deviated from. The truth of the matter is that Harrison's approach to compositional, pre- planned soloing still leaves plenty of breadth for self-expression as the original recorded version is only a map from which one can stray. Both Joe Walsh and Marc Mann have been heavily admonished for their supposed ineptitude/lack of reverence when playing their versions of this beautifully yet George strays a lot further from the blueprint than either of them here. And why not? This is the first time I've seen/heard him playing it live. 11/10 Georgie boy!
I saw one lady extremely upset with the way Prince performed while my guitar gently weeps (yeah, THAT solo) complaining about " desecrating "on clapton's legacy. Total idiot.

@@codetech5598 Not even by the man who wrote it? There are two reasons as to why Harrison's solo on the original is so special. One is that it is essentially a composition in itself; beautifully conceived by a master tunesmith. But secondly, it's because it was played by a master guitarist with great powers of self-expression. I'd feel very confident in suggesting that some of what he played in the studio was in the moment and that a following take would have been less than identical.
@@Maltloaflegrande No, even if he is the original author, he cannot change it because it has become a cultural icon, a brand, a recipe, and to deviate from the expected product defrauds the customer. (It's not like jazz wherein the musician is allowed and even expected to improvise.)

a good solo doesn't have to be complex jittery thrashing like claptop or hendrix, this solo is simple, sweet, and perfectly fitting for the song its on.
