Movaia Run Form Analysis - Testimonial - Laura
Imo, Gidey has the most efficient form of all women runners. Her form is clean as it gets, especially for a woman, as she has no apparent weaknesses and spends as little energy as possible. She's the most graceful of all.
Gidey is show !!!!!!
Unwatchable
We try to do better with every video, this is not easy :)
Well explained
Thank you!
Just got my first running form analysis from Movaia! Incredible detail and the first thing I found was this video to start improving!
Thank you Ashley! Great to hear that you found the analysis helpful!
If ground contact is 0.16 sec, how much flight time before next contact of alternate foot? Or, percentage contact time vs. air time?
Here we see a ratio of about 1:1 of stance time vs. float / air time (Compared to 70% stance vs. 30% air in typical recreational running).
Gidey breaks records when she runs alone or with men so she needs to front run if she is going to be able to compete with all these kickers.
Rest in peace Legend
The closing statement is so sad. RIP Kiptum! 😢
Yes, his family and friends lost him way too early, and we will never see his full potential as a runner. :(
He probably has the most efficient running style ever. I think its very influenced by his countless hours on treadmill. Its like he is gliding forward.
Could you maybe re-upload this without any music? It's too loud, making it hard to understand you. And if you could maybe add a few more captions and details that make it easier to follow, that'd be great. The great content deserves it. Thanks!
Hi, I am so sorry, I just saw this comment. Thank you for your suggestion, and I am sorry about the poor sound quality. A new mic is in the mail and in the latest videos the background sound is now much lower. You may find it helpful that the transcripts of our videos are available at Movaia.com/blog or for this specific video at movaia.com/kelvin-kiptum-running-form-analysis/.
Potato quality audio
agreed but the info itself is actually not bad
But eliud kipchoge run 1:59 in his Vienna run
True, however that run was not an open race and special measures were in place to help in achieving this time (rotating pacers, a lead car etc). Therefore, while it was an epic achievement, it is not recognized as an official Marathon record.
Obiri looks like she is about to fall down every second. She has more forward lean.
What matters most is that she won!!!
Up to a point the "instability" from forward lean helps in "falling forward" (i.e. running). Too much lean however will shorten step length and make it harder to generate power.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you very much.
Hop or jump or spring high enough so your landing foot has time to start coming rearward to meet the ground. If too little vertical jump your landing foot will skid the ground in front of you like a brake. If too high a jump then your landing foot will strike the ground behind your center and you will feel like you are tripping. Feel the jump in each step, try higher and lower, and see where higher and lower enable your foot strike to happen. Running is just jumping at an angle...
I've been looking for this kind of analysis for SO long, thank you. I think some people may call it dumb but as an athlete or aspiring athlete it's good to understand how you run and where your natural urges may push you to severe inefficiences --- even for your unique body.
Thank you, glad you found this helpful!
This is a so called 'new material' record. When all athletes use these new kind of springed shoes, then we're talking, so do not talk about running technique here ok. World records are falling like rain these days. Look at Kelvin Kiptum's running technique with his awful swinging from left to right
This kind of analysis is so pointless because not even Jakob himself has ever put this thought into it. The faster you are, the better your form becomes because you're a more efficient runner, generally speaking. When you are slow and in worse shape, running is harder for you and you have to work much harder to adjust your form. People should just run the way that comes most naturally for them and when they get faster, their form will begin to naturally change. Some aspects of a runner's form are genetic and have to do with the length and position of extremities, and foot structure.
I agree there are unique aspects to all bodies, and yes naturally losing 100 lbs will allow you to approach an "optimal form" as most think about it. I view this as a small tweakable thing for high level amateurs and even pros just to know themselves and their body's better-- and potentially shave a few seconds. Humans are certainly not rational and don''t always do the rational thing or the optimal thing just from experience.
Thank you for sharing your perspective. It's true that runners generally become more efficient as they run, and their form improves. It's also true that many runners get injured as they run, partially due to bad, ingrained form, that could be avoided by identifying weak spots in their form. There's a reason DPT's will often do a running form analysis to fix issues "at the source". Strength and mobility training can improve your form and your running and a running form analysis can give you pointers where to focuss on. Finally if you are looking to optimize your overall performance then running form does come into the picture at some point.
@@Movaiaincorrect
I've run for 15 years now at competitive paces with high mileage and I can't point to one injury that was due to anything but overtraining. In my opinion, the impact of running form has a miniscule effect on injury potential when compared to overuse without proper recovery. The average hobby jogger should simply worry about running faster and more often in whichever way comes most naturally for their body. This type of analysis uses a lot of data and modeling to say almost nothing comprehensible. If I had advice to give to people looking to lose weight and get into running, I would suggest that they lose the weight through diet before beginning running. The heavier you are when you run, the harder it will be on your joints and body in general.@@Movaia
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experience! It's true that sudden increases in training volume and invensity and overtraining are a significant factor in injuries, and your advice on weight management is spot-on. In our perspective, injuries often result from a combination of factors. These include individual physiology (such as weight, previous injuries, age), training specifics (volume/intensity, types of training), nutrition, gender, biomechanics/running form, surfaces, footwear, orthotics etc. While each runner's situation is unique, we believe that considering running form as a tool in the injury prevention (and performance) toolbox is valuable. A baseline check will be beneficial for most. Ultimately, the choice of tools lies with the runner and their coach.
Next time bernad lagat or hicham el guerrouj
yeah would be great to see like a cross chart summary of the metrics for like 5-10 great runners-- they are all super great elites but see where diffs come from and if they are explainable by like height or leg length etc
GOAT kann man euch ein video von jemand selbst schicken? bin mittelstreckler und würde auch behaupten einen relativ guten laufstil zu haben
Hi - yes, we do running form analysis for runners at Movaia.com. We are still in free beta, so a good chance to try. Please check out www.movaia.com/ video-requirements/ to ensure the videos are in a format our algorithm "understands". If you are open to have your video analyzed / published on youtube then please drop me a sepearate message, if I can find the right material, I'll be happy to do a comparison with one of the all-time greats!
The angle of falling is measured from ball of foot to hip, at the end of the fall when the swing foot passes the support leg. There ideally shouldn’t be any angle at mid-stance.
Who has this over analysis helped? I think what it does not account for is the desparation that drives African runners. These people are running to put food on the table. They are running to buy houses and farms in Kenya and Ethiopia.
Kiptim quando corre affanna.guarsatebil viso
Preferisco assolutamente la cadenza di kipghoce.E più fluida
We don't have all that in the motherland 😂 field over screen😊
The music is spoiling everything its destrucuting
Thank you for the feedback!
constructive criticism: we do not want to listen to the high volume music. We are interested in the context of the commentary which is what is important. You presented a really nice analysis.
Yes it was harder to hear him
Thank you, point well taken. I tried to do better for today's release on Jakob's form.
What about the knee bend? Looks like more than average to me.
Thanks,,,,,,💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩
How are they kicking their leg that high with that cadence?
Actually the kick (nearly touching the butt) helps with high cadence. If you imagine your hips as a fulcrum, the kick shortens the "lever" (your leg) and makes it easier to bring it forward quickly. There are a few things that go into this, such as hip flexibility, your hamstrings but one of the most important things might be at the other end of the gait cycle - your knee lift, which generates the momentum and speed for the kick. The amount of kick will depend on your speed, so for mere mortals there's no need to kick quick that high during a marathon distance.
@@Movaiayou just need to run with your hips. Push with your hips on every cycle and everything else will correct itself from there
Music is far too loud. But I like the content.
Thank you, definitely noted for the next video!
Just fucking lower the volume. Literally that simple
Why having the loud background music?
Will do better for the next one ;)
Everyone has their own running form that suits them best so don't bother learning from the elites.
We all have our own running form but there are things to learn. Thank you for your comment, that might make a good topic for a video!
Great video
Thank you!
So he basically trains running a marathons amount of distance every day
Plus strength training and drills. Even his coach is trying to hold him back for fear of injury
❤
Thank you!

Great job Thomas!
