I’m really glad that Viren decided not to give Soren that letter. He realized in that moment that all it would do is give Soren more pain and reopen wounds that need to heal. And at the end of the day, Viren knows he doesn’t deserve any pity or understanding from his son. No matter how bad he feels now, the things he are unforgivable. He blamed his own son for breaking their family, when all Soren did was be a sick child. Viren was the one who drove Lissa away. And really, Viren already told Soren what he needed to hear last episode. That what happened was not his fault, and he regrets causing him all of that pain. Soren doesn’t need to forgive Viren to move on.

3:20 There was a short story released on the official dragon prince website called Strangers that does show their interactions from season 4. It’s really good. Definitely give it a read if you’re curious.

I think this is my favorite episode not only of the season, but probably the entire show. I loved what they did with Soren and Viren’s interactions. It was literally everything I wanted to see after season 3. How Viren finally tells Soren that he’s proud of him, but Soren can’t accept it after everything Viren has done. And I really loved how Soren did not forgive his father, and Viren accepts that and even admits that he doesn’t deserve forgiveness from anyone. All he wants is for Soren to know that what happened to him wasn’t his fault and he didn’t deserve that emotional abuse and neglect he put him through. These actors gave a phenomenal performance. You can feel their emotions through the screen.

I’m glad you appreciate the pacing of the show. Everyone seems to demand instant gratification from their shows because they expect huge battles and explosive dragon scenes - they forget that we had entire episodes of GoT following Arya and the Hound just walking around the Riverlands, or Arya sitting out in the rain in Braavos, or Varys and Tyrion talking. If they’re finding Daemon’s arc boring this season, they really are missing the subtleties of the writing! Character-building and developing the plot make everything much richer.

4:20 "of Hull" doesn't have to do with being a bastard but with him or their mother being low-born. Hull is just a town on Driftmark and the common-born don't have family surnames. Only nobles have House names; if he had one, Rhaenyra would go "ah, House A from the castle B in region C" like immediately knowing his line and place. But he can't give that because he has no noble line, his family no castle. So he's saying "I'm from that town."

I love how everyone feels the same way about Rhaenyra's music. This show is far from being boring. It's character building and world building and the battle lines are being drawn. I don't get the impatience of people. I've loved this season and I can't wait for the finale!
